Hi EG...I believed, that`s what I done, I believed all He has said to me:eek:...Yes the evil one has many times tried to snatch from , but each time when I wobbled I turned to God...God has given me revelation this morning of what His gift is to me, now when I read His Word, I feel as if my eyes have been opened more, I will see things in a new light, freshness, newness, I am eager to learn more...I will never turn to religion, I know where my worth comes from in God alone, I can`t turn away from this truth the Lord has shown me, it`s mine to keep and share :)...Although I have believed these past 22 months, I always felt something missing, then God showed me today that I did not understand what faith meant, I feel like I have been blessed, yes I have, I am blessed, all the glory to God...xox...

Amen, many do not understand what true faith is, thats why we have all these discussions, the disagreements seem centered around what true faith is

Morning all...I was just reading in Luke 7:50 when Jesus said to the women "Your faith has saved you, Go in peace"...I then stopped reading and searched what the word faith meant, yes I know walking with our Lord you would think I know the meaning, but I wanted to find out because Jesus said to her to go , that her faith had saved her, I did not understand how she was saved as He had not died yet, and when I found out what faith meant in the bible, and who gave me faith, my heart lept for Joy, and Ephesians 2:8-9 came alive for me...I know it may sound really silly to some, but now my walking with the Lord these past 22 months has all come together for me, I have saving faith, a gift from God hence Ephesians 2:8-9...Knowing this has now took a doubting nagging away from me, I feel secure knowing my faith is not something I have made up, my faith is real, my saving faith is real, I am not pretending, I truly am a Daughter of God, I truly am adopted, I truly do live in Christ, I truly am saved, my heart is Joyful, my life has just become so secure in Him, my Lord , my King, my everything...I can not believe these past 22 months I have been living in my faith , my gift from God but at times letting doubt come in that made me blow from side to side, I would then try harder to build my faith ( Works ) but I do not have to do that, I have a gift from God, one that He will not take back , now I can live in my gift knowing that I can grow in Him, He does all the stretching, He gave me faith the size of a mustard seed, today I grew a branch...Praise the Lord my soul, I shall shout from the roof tops all the wonderful things You O my God has and are doing for me, Praise the Lord \o/...xox...:D
The word "saved" has many meanings depending on the context. In the one verse you cited here - it speaks of "saved" as in healing and wholeness to her body.

The word "saved" or "salvation" does not always apply directly to going to heaven when we die. It speaks of wholeness, soundness, safe.

4834. σῴζω sōzō verb

Save, keep safe, preserve, rescue, make well.

The scriptures speak of 2 manifestations of "being saved or salvation"

1) It is used in the context for things pertaining to this life.

2) Is used in speaking about our Lord obtaining eternal redemption for us by His blood. Heb. 9:12 This is for being one spirit with Him and we are a new creation in Him. The Lord Jesus loses no one that belong to Him.

Good Morning Grac777, I like your post a lot, plus the study tool. I cannot afford the cost of a hard cover and I'm not sure congress (my wife) would approve this in our budget; I tried to open this study tool online (pdf) word press but it would not open. Without the cost of down loading Microsoft Word Press, is there any other way to access this cool study tool online?

The Complete Biblical Library Greek-English Dictionary – Sigma-Omega. very nice

Thanks for your consideration, wife and I will be out for a couple of hours later today.

AMEN again.....now stay strong and disregard ALL who will attempt to tell you that you have to maintain this stance before God based upon your merit, works, and or a false assumption that you can lose your position as a daughter of God based upon something you do or do not do.....it is Christ himself who BEGAN your faith, who will finish your faith, who will complete that good work he began in you, who will NEVER leave you or forsake you, who saves you to the uttermost, who keeps you by HIS POWER, in whose hand you are, in the FATHER'S hand as well, sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption and JESUS will LOSE NOTHING that the above applies unto.....we are SECURE in Christ and all who deny this or attempt to cause doubt concerning this deny and reject ALL the promises made by JESUS and state clearly that their God is weak.......OURS does not fail and eternal means exactly that...ETERNAL!

Great message. Thank you for sharing.

I like the twist on OSAS, "when you are saved, always saved" he deepens the discussion for sure!

His teaching somewhat balances a number of differences that we have seen on this thread.

It made me think of some of the things I have disagreed with in a little bit of a different light.

And I also disagree with some of the things Platt said :)

Ultimately it is ALL about Jesus!

I will continue to pray on these things.

Thanks man!

Decisionism

Decisionism in Christianity is the belief that a person is saved by coming forward, raising the hand, saying a prayer, believing a doctrine, making a lordship commitment, or some other external, human act, which is taken as the equivalent to, and proof of, the miracle of inward conversion. It is believed that a person is saved through the mere means of external decision and that performing one of these human actions also gives sufficient evidence of regeneration. Many who do not use an "invitation" still hold a form of "decisionism" that Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones called "Sandemanianism" (Banner of Truth Trust, 1987, "Puritans: Their Origins and Successors").

In contrast, Conversion is the result of that work of the Holy Spirit which draws a lost sinner to Jesus Christ for justification and regeneration, and changes the sinner's standing before God from lost to saved, imparting divine life to the depraved soul, thus producing a new direction in the life of the convert. The objective side of salvation is justification. The subjective side of salvation is regeneration. The result is conversion.

I found this information to be helpful, (learned this word from Preacher4Truth).

these are good points, but let's also remember that sanctification / regeneration are different experiences for people who come to Christ.

for example, a person who got drunk regularly for many years could come to Christ, and never touch the stuff again.

someone else in the same situation could come to Christ, but still struggle to break the addiction for a while.

is one " less saved " than the other??

again, good points, but one should apply them carefully.

Hi NNM...I just sat and watched this and it really opened my eyes to more understanding...It sure does take away the osas and I can see why...We must live our life out day by day , obeying Christ, obeying His commands, love like Him, and not grieve the Holy Spirit because when we do, we will not have His Spirit to comfort us, and it is the Holy Spirit who gives us our assurance of salvation...A lot of people think that once they are saved, that`s it, but in reality they become deceived, salvation is a process lived day by day, moment by moment, and I will read 1 John this evening, so much to learn from it, and I now understand why osas is not written in the bible, thank you for this post...xox...

Just want to say also...If we abide in Christ, then we have assurance of our salvation:) but we must abide, we have the Spirit of God in us who works all things through us, but some do walk away as 1 John explains, they were once believers but then turned back, this is a false belief, that`s why we must ALWAYS check our selfs to prove we our walking in the Holy Spirit...xox...

i kinda liked how instead of "once saved" he turned it into "when saved"

before getting into his break down of "how we know"

i listened to it all the way through too

i also liked when he spoke of our works having nothing to do with salvation

but Gods works

Sorry...we don't agree....and that is not what I said in my post to you....IF we HAVE to do something to REMAIN IN HIM then it is a works based salvation that we DO and not him.....end of story....by saying what you say here you negate everything you said in the post I responded to....35147

You just went from SECURE in CHRIST to I MUST KEEP MY SECURITY in CHRIST by what I DO........

maybe i see it wrong
but i thought what she meant by "For those who abide in Him, who walk in His Spirit...I will not lose my salvation because I am truly His child"

as defining a faith that isnt dead

not a requirement of works

Thank you for this distinction between, sanctification and regeneration.

The objective side of salvation would be the Holy Spirit's regeneration of a born again Child of God. (Saved by Grace).

The subjective side of post salvation is sanctification; This is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring a believer to maturity in Christ apart from any works to keep you saved. Each new believer's spiritual growth and maturity in Jesus Christ will develop at there own growth rate in Christ.

The legalist would condemn the new believer who grows and mature's in Christ at a slower pace; The legalist would also cause the new believer to lose their Joy in the Lord. Their Joy would be diminished, their salvation remains secure.

True application or am I missing something,

God bless.
