I've said I'd be alright going through life with no love relationship, but perhaps not,my heart is losing warmth and I'm losing my sense of mourning somewhat despite finding out that my grandfather passed away yesterday,I wish I knew someone who could understand my lack of emotion,I keep striving to love and mourn when there is a time but these feelings don't come so easily to me,and it tears me apart, anyone ever feel this way?

You may be emotionally overwhelmed and feel that your heart is becoming a dead zone. I have felt like this before quite a few times. I knew that God loves me yet I felt like He was somehow emotionally unattached. I just try to stay as close to God as possible, let Him know what I'm feeling and do the best that I can. Eventually, my heart felt alive again. I have said a prayer for you my friend. You sound very lonely and that's not a good place to remain.

When I first read the title of this thread, I first thought: "Joe, you shouldn't have the AC on that high...", buuuut I read the actual OP, and I think that may be the wrong thing to say now, lol.

I still hope you get better, though!

Yeah and still on the side of the family that doesn't show actual affection, they show that supposedly with items, money, cursing, bickering, and ignoring each other,I would leave to get my own place so I wouldn't feel so drained from their so called love but I don't have a place to go nor money enough for even an apartment, but if I can sustain until that time then I can live a better life,it's not all of exactly loneliness, more of I guess the atmosphere gets me feeling somewhat unemotional like the old days, and not to mention my repitious life here drains my spirit as well.

You care, so what's there to worry about.
Even though your grandpa died you're still composed, you already know that this life comes and goes like nothing and you know it's not the end. Sounds like you're good to go.

I had the same worries after seeing someone die in a car accident, even though they were a stranger I felt like I should have felt more.

I have difficulties mourning when someone dies. For me it is not because I am emotionally not capable but because death is not the end. And also because I care for the living not the dead. I mourn when loosing a friend or a lover. That is for me much worse, because the other person most probably mourns too. And I just want to fix things. I also deal with death as I do with crisis in general. Keeping myself busy. I play, I bake, I make the program, I call the releatives. I am used to being the strong one when it comes to funerals in my family. And my personal grieving comes secondary to the living people around me that needs my Comfort and support. I am not sure if this helps you.

I am sorry for your loss, and I pray God will be close to you and your family in this time of grief.

When I was a kid I can remember a point where I was crying and my father telling me to suck it up. I think this is the typical male response across age ranges. Problem is when you keep sucking in your emotions and moving forward at some point you just hit a limit. You're saturated and you can't take anymore. The tragedies around you don't come close to the cumulative emotion that you're ignoring in the bottle inside. There are questions that remain unanswered because you're scared the answer will just make you bitter. I'm always amazed at what a woman who's loved by a good man can be, but men need good love too. Affection and respect eases the pressure crucible inside. You need to seek the comfort of the Holy Spirit. And face what's inside, but don't let it get the best of you.

Edit: I realized there are a lot of assumptions in this post, so take it with a grain of salt.

Talking about weeping. It is difficult to weep when you are in your daily mode. I do most of my weeping when I pray. Then my heart is soft and it just is healing in weeping in the Spirit.

I honestly believe we go through seasons in our life. Sometimes we flourish and grow, sometimes we're cold and rigid sometimes we are bright and sunny. Maybe you're going through an emotional winter in your life. I pray you'll see sunny days again soon.

Yeah don't I know it,alot of men on one side of the family don't care about even themselves, where as my other side of the family actually show compassion, affection, and even weeping.

Hi Joe...Feelings come and go, God knows your heart, in time you will face this , but for now just rest in Him, at least your not faking your sorrow, this to shall pass, and then you will see you would of sprouted another leaf on your branch...We are allowed to feel not right, God knows we are weak, He is not only with you but He is in you, rest in Him...xox...

No one gets to tell you how to mourn; there's no right or wrong way to do it. Some of us say stupid or inappropriate stuff when trying to come to terms with loss, that's ok. Some of us just sit there like bumps on a log as though we've gone into emotional hibernation while we try to come to terms with the magnitude of it. Some of us collect a zillion mementos of the person and become temporary hoarders. Some of us bawl our eyes out. And some are pre-grievers (especially if it's a loss you know is coming up) and some are almost in denial until loss hits and then bam grief hits too. So grieve your way, whether that be emotionally demonstrative or just sitting there feeling empty. And if you want someone to talk to or just dump on (and I've always found it helpful for me to have it be someone who isn't part of that grief so that I don't have to censor myself out of concern for their feelings) there's me and several other people here in the forum that you're more than welcome to PM and just get it all out. Blessings.

Thank you all for your advice and sentiments I feel a lot more uplifted especially after going to church, thank you!
