Trouble for Florida?

just a share:

old days, like where we live, logs were the only option to build a house, except brink, and there was even
a brickyard business right next to the logging business in a very small community where we live:
both of those 'old-ways' were over-come by 'new-ways', but some of their off-spring are still here,
and still 'logging for the world' in 'new ways'...for what the world calls 'middle-class', the 'logging industry,
on a home-family-level, can very, very lucrative...

the brick-yard lays empty, but the old train tracks that loaded and carried the logs,
are but a long, lost memory, but still just thinking about it and visualizing those ole-timers floating
those great big logs down that black creek, gators/snakes & all, and then loading them on
the waiting trains,
it's kind of thrilling to think about for us, because hub and me, we were privileged enough to ride our horses
over those beaten old paths for many years, and we heard the real history from many of those who had lived it,
their houses were built from it and so is ours today...
it was truly a thrill, especially being able to one on one talk to some of those who had lived it...

we really do live in a very special community, kind of like, 'apart from the rest of the world',
just in a different kind of way, because of God...we're very, very, thankful, always...

Oh,yes. Forgot that. That's something we don't have to worry about. No lakes near or ponds.

Don't feel overly bad, concrete homes still have wood roofs. Extreme winds will still blow the roof right off the concrete walls.
 
I just watched another periscope from the Keys. Their house is up on stilts and they are staying, plus many of their neighbors too. I think pets is the reason, and I can't fault anyone for that.

But on stilts?

Lord, help them all tonight. Many miraculous testimonies in Jesus name.

Ah, man! Now I'm picturing you two hunkering down in your house with horses in the living room. lol

What do you do with horses when a hurricane is coming?
 
I know Florida about as well as I know Mississippi.

Sooo, could you Floridians let us know when it's time for you to duck? That way, we know who to pray for when, AND can estimate about how bad it was by how long it takes you to return.

(Took me a week to hear from Mississippi cousins after Katrina. Took me on again off again for three weeks for my NOLA friend. So I know not hearing isn't all bad news. It has everything to do with how long before there's a way to reconnect electronically.)

Yeah, but hopefully there is a downstairs!

Sandy knocked a tree into Dad's upstairs, but he lived on the first floor, so he was safe.

The Lord finally put an end to our 'Horse Business' last year when he allowed an over 100yr.old,
pecan tree, fall directly onto our 7stall barn, which, was by His will, EMPTY at the time.:eek:

we took it in stride as His Will for us to make yet another, 'letting-go', a part of our 'old-lives'...

so, no horses, just our 'Prince Simon', our precious cat that our Father gave to us...:)
we're trying to keep him as 'stress-free' as we can...:rolleyes:

And he will do his catly duty and stress you out as much as possible. lol
 
yes, he tries his best to manipulate us at every corner, but we are experts at 'body-language',
human and animal, so always a few steps ahead'...and he has learned the hard way, that me,
the old-girl, will 'gently-boot' - or, if I absolutely have to, will, 'gently bodily-scruff and toss'...:)

so, let's get REAL, how can he compare to what the bears can do to you and John'?...
