Which phone should I buy?

Wait a month for the iPhone X. I have an iPhone 6s and I love it. I've had it for two years...it's pink too. :o
 
"Which phone should I buy?" depends on "What am I going to be using this phone for?" If you're going to play first person shooters, get the latest and greatest Samsung whatever. If you're going to use the phone to watch youtube videos, send text messages, catch up with the forum and what-not, follow the excellent advice posthuman gave in post #12.

One thing to consider: Some companies load their phones down with "bloatware," preinstalled programs that you can't remove, that you don't want. Some companies do NOT install a lot of bloatware. Lenovo is a good choice for a clean phone without a lot of junk preinstalled, and there are a few others.

Another thing to consider: Even the best company can have product line lemons. Research the exact model you're looking at, don't just go by "Oh this is a Moto phone, they're always good." Even my beloved Lenovo has a few products on the market that I wouldn't recommend. Usually googling the exact model and "review" will get you a good overview of how reliable that model is.

I just got the LG G6 a couple of weeks ago.

I had the LG G4 and I really liked that one. The G6 is basically the same but with a better battery and maybe a little faster.

I think a phone is a phone nowadays. I prefer android because it seems more intuitive than the iphone. My wife had an iphone and it would ring and she couldn't figure out how to answer it before it went to voice mail. I told her at the very least you should be able to use your phone as an actual phone first and foremost.

But I'm old fashioned that way.

cell phones ain't meant for talking, you know. they're tiny portable computers meant to give people an excuse to all sit in the same room ignoring one another. lol

at best, they're meant for texting so you can avoid actual conversation.

I wish I could get on the smartphone wagon but the idea of having so many things to do on a phone is too much for me. I'd rather have a book in my hand or get on my computer to get connected.

I felt like I was losing brain cells by connecting everything and everyone on one device.
I need separation.

I do know some abilities begin to atrophy if you use a phone to automate them. Many people I know say they are no longer able to give anyone even the most simple direction because they have used "Turn left, go straight X miles, turn right" GPS directions to get where they are going for so long.

That will never happen to me though because I like to KNOW where I'm going. I use a phone, but I look up the location on the map and plot my route myself.
 
I am now killing time while letting my class working with an anlysis of a shortstory. And I am just playing with my brand new Samsung s8+. Not totally comfortable with it yet. But I'll get there. Rounds with pros and cons..... it was the right choice.

Speaking of GPS, my daughter has been to my place many times, but when she first started getting here on her own by taking the bus and following her GPS instead of following directions from mom, she got lost LOL. GPS often gives less than optimum directions, and does not keep up with road changes. When my twin brother was here a year ago, we wanted to go to the Olive Garden restaurant for dinner, and the GPS had us driving through a farmer's field to get there LOLOLOLOLOL
 
GPS is all conspiracy. The New World Order has chosen your route to distract you from their evil plans. I use maps and my nose. It takes some extra hours but I will get there.
 
Part of the reason I don't like smartphones. I'd prefer to work right myself. :)

I wish I knew more about cellphones so i could help you decide.. It's one of the things I am pretty clueless about. I have an iphone 5 and I'm pretty happy with it, but I don't use it for a lot. My singing app is the most demanding thing I use on it.

And we're not replacing God. We're replacing work. The more technology frees us from drudgery, the more free time we have to be bored.
