I also consider myself a Dreamer. Maybe, foolishly, but still a Dreamer. Despite the fact that I finally learned not to hire Blacks for any responsible construction jobs, (although I will hire ONLY Black concrete subcontractors..... White concrete men just fall far short), I actually voted for Obama the first time around. And I wanted so badly for Herman Cain to run. I was also rooting for Ben Carson in the Primaries.... until I noticed that he rarely showed any backbone on much of anything.
I guess I am still influenced by being raised by Hattie. She helped me to believe there are a portion of useful, productive Blacks among the rest. But, age and experience has shown me that there are probably 100 rejects for every worthwhile one. And that was a sad lesson to learn. That's why I am still hopeful whenever I see a successful Black. I figure that they really must be one of the truly shining stars.
And I still wish we had Herman Cain as president.
