Amen....and I must reiterate....ANY and ALL who have exercised genuine faith into Jesus for a total and complete, eternal salvation have already done the will and works of the Heavenly Father which is to BELIEVE on him whom he hath sent......!!!!!
This sounds like anyone who joins a fan club, really is a player.
But being a fan, like many agnostics, aethiests, ascetics, humanists are while never
actually commiting and following Christ, it means nothing.

Faith is demonstrated by becoming a child of God and walking in Gods ways.

Religious hypocrites are those who claim the morality and love of Christ but do not
live it. Now being honest about ones hypocracy does not remove its existance.

As a side note, how is it that someone who says doing good is not their core ethic
holds up the miltary service of 30 years ago as the image they want to portray to all.

Surely there is something more than learning how to blow bad guys away.
I did read Jesus commanded us to love our enemies not send them to an early grave.

Why is it that people in this thread, on both sides of the aisle, are treating each other so poorly?

If I was a hollow eyed atheist I would have thought this thread was hilariously accurate when it comes to displaying christian love, but since I'm a Christian it's just a sad piece of reading!

THE FIRST LIE IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN

Gen 3:1,

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Gen 3:2-3,
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Gen 3:4,
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Gen 3:5,
God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Key points from scripture:

  • The original deceiver the devil (v1)
  • Eve told the serpent that God commanded them not to touch or eat the fruit lest they die (v 2-3)
  • The serpent lied to Eve saying that you will not surely die if you don’t do what God asks. You will be like God knowing good and evil (v 4-5).

Putting it all together:

The fall of mankind was from the original lie (John 8:44; 1John 3:8). When God commanded mankind to follow him lest they die. The Devil’’s original lie was that you can break God’s Law and not die. The teachings of many false religions today is the same as the original lie. If God asks us to do something and you do not do it…. “Ye shall not surely die” (Gen 3:4). But God's Word says we will die if we break God's Law (Rom 6:23). Who do we follow God or man?

For those that have ears to hear.........

That same subtleness is thriving in this time...

The Messiah was not teaching you that, that was taught to those in that day under the Old Covenant.. before the cross.. We are under the New Covenant. Sad because the Word was being Spoken to fill the bottles receiving the New wine to be shared to the whole world for sinners to be saved... yes, sinners like us that were dead in their trespasses on the path to destruction.. yet having been Saved by a Gracious GOD through Faith in His Son's Testament and full of GOD's Love we share the Truth we receive freely only to be called workers for.. I guess we are Workers for Christ .. and really that is an honour to be treasured always.

Can you lose your salvation? (What does God say?)

Who is a believer and can a believer become an unbeliever and depart from the faith?

A "Believer" one that is abiding and following God in the present tense of the Word. An "Unbeliever" is one that is not believing and following God's Word.

Is it possible for a believer to become an "Unbeliever" and choose to go back to a life of not following God?

This is not to say someone that was a believer and comes back to God will not be saved as they certainly can be. They will be saved if they return to God (Prodigal son) but it is never God's will that we leave him and return to a life of sin (1 John 2:1-4). There however will be those that because of the freewill God gives us to choose to go back in to the World after believing God and decide not to come back to God. These are the class that God's Word says will be lost. Why because they have rejected God through their unbelief in His Word and loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. They have chosen to believe the first lie from the Garden of Eden "Ye shall not surely die if you eat of the forbidden fruit" Ignoring the Word of God that says "Not to touch or eat of the fruit lest ye die" or "the wages of sin is death (Gen 3:1-5);

Rom 6:23)

You can look all through God's Word from Genesis to Revelations and you will see that God has always had a believing people that at some point believed God but choose to go back into the world in rebellion and reaped what they sowed.

What does God say?

Eze 3:20
Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Eze 18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins, it shall die.

Rom 6:23
For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Mat 13:18-23

Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and anon with joy receiveth it <believer>Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arise because of the word, by and by he is offended ,<Believer leaves God>

Mat 13:22,
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word <believer>; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful <Believer leaves God>.

Mat 13:23,
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty <Saved believer staying with Christ>.

More Scripture support: (from another post)

Colossians 1v21-23
[SUP]
21 [/SUP]And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled <become believers> [SUP]22 [/SUP]in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— [SUP]23 [/SUP]if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Now what is plain to see is this:
-These were believers above
-They were to be presented holy, blameless and above reproach (no scope for unrepentant sin in a believers life)
-this is possible (IF THEY CONTINUED IN THE FAITH) - grounded, steadfast, not moved.

Other evidences:

Luke 22 v31-32
[SUP]31 [/SUP]And the Lord said,[SUP][[/SUP][SUP]c[/SUP][SUP]][/SUP] “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. [SUP]32 [/SUP]But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

Now what is plain to see is this:
-If it were not possible for faith to fail, as the strong delusionalists claim, then it would not be necessary for Jesus to have had to pray to the Father this prayer above.

1 Timothy 2 v18-20
[SUP]18 [/SUP]This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, [SUP]19 [/SUP]having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, [SUP]20 [/SUP]of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.

2 Timothy 2 v16-19
[SUP]16 [/SUP]But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. [SUP]17 [/SUP]And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, [SUP]18 [/SUP]who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ[SUP][[/SUP][SUP]c[/SUP][SUP]][/SUP] depart from iniquity.”

Now what is plain to see is this:
-its possible to stray concerning the truth
-its possible to once have known the truth but to have strayed therefrom
-faith can be overthrown.
-these people are no longer saved. Because you can only receive salvation through faith.
-sin is still a factor " Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity". Contrary to what the strong delusionalists say.

Jude
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Now what is plain to see is this:
-contending for the faith - its a prize. It is to be protected, defended, fought for.
-by not contending for this, it can be lost.

2 Timothy 4v7-8
[SUP]7 [/SUP]I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:[SUP]8 [/SUP]Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Now what is plain to see is this:
-Paul, writer of most of the New Testament, fought the good fight. Finished the course. And KEPT the faith.
-why would it be necessary for him to write about "kept the faith" if it wasn't possible to have lost faith.

1 John 5v4
[SUP]4 [/SUP]For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our[SUP][[/SUP][SUP]a[/SUP][SUP]][/SUP] faith.

Now what is plain to see is this:
-Our faith is what overcomes the world. We are supposed to OVERCOME THE WORLD.
-What is the world? (definition:1 John 2v16 [SUP]16 [/SUP]For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world).

Revelation 2v10b
10(b) Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Now what is plain to see is this:
-Faith is not a once off, momentary decision, applicable for all time.
-Faith, once received, once believed, is to be maintained.
-the corollary is this - if you are NOT faithful until death, or lose your faith, you shall not receive the crown of life.

The word is very clear - its to him who overcomes:
Revelation 2v7b To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life
Revelation 2v11b He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.
Revelation 2v17b To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat.
Revelation 2v26 [SUP]26 [/SUP]And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—
Revelation 3v5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life
Revelation 3v12He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more.
Revelation 3v21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne

Now to those who lose the faith. Who once had the faith yet turned their backs on Christ, we have the subject matter of the 'other' thread. Which is clearly visible for all to see below:

Hebrews 6v4-6
[SUP]4 [/SUP]For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, [SUP]5 [/SUP]and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, [SUP]6 [/SUP]if they fall away,[SUP][[/SUP][SUP]b[/SUP][SUP]][/SUP] to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

Now what is plain to see is this:
-Let there no illusions that these were believers, and were once in the faith.
-once they "fall away" (and we can see that this is a very real risk warned about by the NT writers, as well as Jesus) to be renewed again unto repentance.

Hebrews 10v26-27

For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Parable of the Sower (falling away)

MATT 13
[SUP]18,[/SUP] Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. [SUP]19, [/SUP]When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart <UNBELIEVER>. This is he which received seed by the way side. [SUP]20,[/SUP] But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and for a while with joy receives it <BELIEVER>; [SUP]21, [/SUP]Yet hath he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, by and by he is offended <FALLS AWAY>. [SUP]22,[/SUP] He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful <BELIEVER THAT FALLS AWAY>.
[SUP]23, [/SUP]But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty <BELIEVER>.

Example of Judas

The facts are these;

1. Judas was one of the 12 disciples. You cannot be one of the 12 disciples without being a believer
2. He for a time was following Jesus and put in a responsibility of trust.
3. He was given the Holy Spirit and went out preaching the Gospel
3. He believed Jesus then he betrayed and fell away from Jesus and went back into the world. He was a believer that left God.

Scripture proof line upon line:
Matt 10:1-5; Matt 26:14; Luke 22:48; 23:3; Heb 6:4-8; Heb 10:26-27; John 15:1-10; John 14:15

Matthew 24:13
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

"...you are saved if you hold fast the word till the end..." (1 Corinthians 15:2 NASB)

You can indeed lose your salvation if you choose to live in a life of unrepentant sin. We only have today! In times of ignorance God winks at by now commands all men everywhere to repent and believe the Gospel.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Today if you hear his voice harden not your heart...

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word...

[h=1]1 Peter 5King James Version (KJV)[/h]5 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

I always refer to the Lord as the Good Shepherd which He is.. but above is warming and may the Chief Shepherd appear soon.

Most have you on ignore because what you post means nothing and rejects the truth regularly....what I posted is factual and scriptutally stated by Jesus....it is obvious that you neither know Jesus nor believe a word he states......!

And your ignorant statement about my Marine pic k
is exactly that...ignorant...I was asked to use it by another member on this site...so get the facts or get lost and do not respond to me...ever!

Hi Susanna, who said this was a Christian thread?

Do you really think people are really this niave, to believe everyone here is following Jesus.
It is the intention of some, their lifes mission, to expose the false gospel of some to save
the world from this terrible evil.

Jesus spent His life on earth showing the pharisees their hypocracy?
No Jesus spent His life showing people How the living God lives and moves and has His
being. This transcends the heart dilemmas of people, and shows what ultimately resolves
all conflicts and hurts, love. It is why we are examples of His work in man, and we are not
here to correct or put people down.

You will see many believe it is belief that defines their reality, as if belief without transformation
is how the creator God expected His people to behave, rather than this being the literal definition
of what is fake.

I sense you have a real pride issue here.
Now my friend, are you not commanded to love whether friend or foe, to desire the best for
me and to empathise with my ambitions and aspirations, if they are good and things of God?

I am not ignorant, I observed you want to be associated with your own history, and commenly
talk about your need to be armed at all times. Why is this a sensitive subject for you, unless
you actually desire people admire you for it, and if I point out this reality, it exposes something
about recognition you want.

Now my friend, this is a forum for responding, so I am not sure how your response to me, is not
going to generate a response likewise. And facts do not matter that much to you, other than the
facts you wish to hold to, and those you wish to ignore.

You know something I find amusing, is those who push a certain theology, and get banned,
cannot return to continue to push it, because it would be obvious.

Jesus saves people, and amen to it, but He saves them whole and transforms them.
So my friend, where is your transformation, or maybe it got stalled in its growth phase?

About getting lost!!! I hope and pray you will not get lost, but find the light eternal and
His love burning and empowering you through every moment to day. I wish above all
else you would see how much you are loved and how He can heal you, so you past is gone,
and only the glorious future of His walk with you remains. Amen

Dear Father, may your grace and love anoint our communications and bring the reality
of your Kingdom to our lives here on earth today, Amen

By the way, I chose a field mouse as my avatar, because it represented my fragility and
dependence of the Lord of All, the Father, and His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

I do not know you friends, whether you wish me harm or good, because it does not matter
so much as I am encouraged to walk deeper with my Lord.

In 20 years most here will be with the Lord, literally. So I have an ambition that I might
bring praise to His name, in the last years, and help to encourage you to grow and be open
and trusting of the King how died to save us, and actually believe His word and let Him in
to cleanse us all from unrighteousness, rather than just say the words and think that is
enough. God bless you all

Sister loveme1 it is always encouraging however to see there are still those that love God's Word and know him who loves all through their faith that works by love. To walk with the Lord is an honor indeed. Those that do not know him may try to kill the messenger but will never kill His Word which will judge all in the last days. Many are called but few are chosen because they refuse to receive not the love of the truth. Yet it is this very love that saves us.

I’d rather have an SDA neighbor who obeys God’s laws because of their fear and love for God than having an OSAS believing neighbor who judges every man's work as worldly or sinful even before God could even judge them on the Great Day.
