I recently saw a video shared on my twitter about a young girl who was Vloging about a recent surgery she had.

She had a few facial deformities (as well as hand and arms) and she had to have surgery just to close her eyelid.

I consider myself pretty emotionless and generally numb, but as a grown man I dont think ive ever cried a river as hard as when I watched this.

Is god not all knowing and all powerful? Tell me then that this isn't his choice to see this girl suffer like this.

I dont know if I can do this anymore, think Im done.

If I give a person a computer (and I often do, as I get new computers and the old computers filter out of my setup) and I tell the person to find a good antivirus, and I recommend some good freeware antiviruses, and then the person ignores what I said about antiviruses and runs the computer with an internet connection for six months... can the person blame me for the viruses on that computer?

WE messed up this world. When God created this world it was perfect. WE let sin into a perfect world, so now we have an imperfect world.

But God is still with us anyway, which automatically makes God a better person than I am. I would not have the patience to coach that computer user on how to get everyday computer tasks done despite the interference of the viruses the person allowed to get on the computer. I would be too busy saying "I told you so!"

When did God ever say He would ensure a life in this world without suffering? Answer.. Nowhere..

Why then would someone start to disbelieve in God because they see suffering around them in this world?

Does rejecting God end the suffering around you? Answer Nope..

So what now you can live in a world of suffering with no hope for a restored perfected eternal future life where there will be no suffering... Does that make things better for you? Answer Nope it makes things worse...

Take away God you take away any hope for a better future..

Really there is no logic to rejecting God because there is suffering.. In fact one should be clinging onto God even tighter as suffering grows.. How dark must it be to suffer alone without God in a world where you have no hope for anything better.. Don't run from God.. Run to Him and be strengthened and comforted..

my 32 yo daughter works with crime victims. she attends rape victims at the hospital, (usually) women who have been beaten, children who have been terribly abused... because humans broke the world and we are by nature wicked.

there are many people who do that job, and like my daughter, many of them are believers. why not find one of these precious ones working to help the helpless and ask them about it?

To me it seems ridiculous to blame God for this....

Firstly you have no idea what her parents have done in order for any genetic issues she had...

Second if God chose to make it so that would happen it doesn't change the fact He is righteous and she isn't and needs Jesus to be saved.... FOR EVER

to focus on temporal suffering when there is an eternal solution that you can turn hold onto at any time you choose

it's possible her genetics defects are actually a product of something related to her family tree and STILL used as a blessing to keep her from being exposed to something neither you or i could guess

to get angry at God
or let this try your faith is unwise

but i see your compassion for a fellow human

may God bless you and help restore your faith

i suggest praying about this

Can't do what anymore? There is a lot of suffering going on in the world that God allows for reasons that may seem unclear at this time but is for His ultimate glory and our benefit. 26 years old and ready to give up on God without giving Him a chance? Glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.

Wow, I thought that was going to be hard to watch... why would anyone cry watching that?? That was amazing!! Okay, so for anyone who didn't watch the video, it's a very sweet little girl (Little? Not sure of her age, actually, she seems youngish, maybe 12?) who very CHEERFULLY explains to the camera that she can't do her YouTube makeup tutorials because she had eye surgery, so she has to postpone them. Throughout the video, she is trying to get people to subscribe to her videos and her other "social media handles" as she so aptly puts them lol.

You dared us to praise God afterward. Easy peasy.

God, you are so amazing. Wow. I thank you for this little girl's amazing spirit, and I pray that she gets to know YOU!! She has a joyful heart, and I pray it's one that will be filled with love for her amazing Creator. Thank you so much that her surgery was a success... thank you so much that she lives in a country where she can get medical treatment, have a comfy bed, and a room full of books as we can see on the video... and thank you that she has a way to reach out to people through the internet and her social media. Thank you so much, God! Let the people in her life who know You share Your love with her, that maybe she can use her grasp on social media to do even more good. Praising You for this!! Love You!

When did God ever say He would ensure a life in this world without suffering? Answer.. Nowhere..
When did God say life in this world HAS to be a life of suffering?

Why then would someone start to disbelieve in God because they see suffering around them in this world?
Maybe the way Christians sugar-coat it into having some fairytale meaning.

Does rejecting God end the suffering around you? Answer Nope..
Does rejecting the current 'belief system' of Christians today end suffering around you? Possibly, depending on perspective, but many believe in suffering. And when they believe in suffering they believe love and focusing on it is worthless (well, it comes from God so one doesn't have to be loving. Maybe one is a part of the problem!)

So what now you can live in a world of suffering with no hope for a restored perfected eternal future life where there will be no suffering... Does that make things better for you? Answer Nope it makes things worse...
There is no hope when people continue to believe in something, and USE God as an advocate, for themselves not being a part of the solution. This is a world problem. Most people are in it for themselves even those who use God as an advocate for doing nothing themselves. God works through people. What is the will of God, if it is not to sacrifice yourself for others, that is the only true love. Wasn't Jesus the way the truth and the life of God's will? Jesus isn't a conduit, Jesus is THE example of how you should be. But that has been literally destroyed, by literally minded people, and logically minded organisers of the truth. False teachers. The command is love, which comes from a pure heart, clear conscience, and sincere/genuine faith.

Take away God you take away any hope for a better future..
How can you take away God when God is eternal, and exists for every person, whatever colour, whatever religion, even atheist. God is Love, and if any person has love for their neighbours they are coming to know God. But organisers of 'the truth' don't want you to see that truth, because the truth sets you free, free from requirements that were designed by men. Much evil has occurred from men, in God's name. It is this which is the unforgiveable sin, and yet, maybe a lot of their beliefs and doctrines, we still believe in partially today.

Really there is no logic to rejecting God because there is suffering.. In fact one should be clinging onto God even tighter as suffering grows.. How dark must it be to suffer alone without God in a world where you have no hope for anything better.. Don't run from God.. Run to Him and be strengthened and comforted..
Actually there is a lot of logic involved in rejecting God. Logic is mans device of intelligence that overrules God's intelligence which is the highest intelligence. Human logic is the enemy of God. Logic, love, logic, love, which one shall I choose? That is the free will we have. God says to always choose the loving option. Have faith in his logic, even if it can seem illogical to do so. Faith is illogical.

Results of the fall, as sin and its effect are damning and severe. People demand heaven on earth, no consequences of the fall, entitlement, a genie in the sky who heals all their woes while they remain in rebellion toward him and are filled with hate for God, while being filled with ingratitude.

My faith and belief in God are effected absolutely in no way due to this video.

Joni Earickson was a 17-year-old, good-Christian young woman when she dove into some water with her friends, hit her head and broke her neck at the bottom, and floated back up as a quadriplegic. She asked the same question you did, but not in the same lazy way you did. Instead, she and her buddy Steve spent the next 6 months studying God's word for the answer to the obvious question, "Why me, God?" AND she came up with real answers, good answers from the loving God, that have managed to save quite a few others of us who live with disabilities through the rest of our lives.

She has flourished as a believer and has helped hundreds of thousands of other disabled people in her life. (She's in her 60s now, quite the artist, but her true passion is to help others.)

You will use that video as your excuse even after forgetting all about that video.

I will continue to follow the Lord who made me like I am specifically to remind me that he is here and loves me for the rest of my life and beyond.

Praise you, Lord, even for all the hardships, because you taught me the purpose of Jonah's big fish!

Sad stuff. cant say i relate with anyone here. Well that was a quick little testing the waters of Christianity for me, but I for one expect someone who says they are all powerful to put their money where their mouth is. And dont tell me the world is wicked so he had to disease a child at birth. Yeah im wasting my time here. thanks.

None of these deformities are His will. It's from death affecting the seed of Adam. I actually think viruses are demonic beings of some kind. It's my opinion though.

God still heals. It takes faith though breaking through a black cloud of doubt and unbelief for some of us. Mindsets of misunderstanding.

Let your faith grow rather than doubt and anger. You are upset with the wrong side.

The horror of the world isn't proof that God isn't loving.
You'll always find things to blame God for...reality is life is just life. And sometimes the pain and misery has a purpose larger than we can even begin to understand.

The Lord promises to turn all things into good for us if we trust Him. Takes time but when He starts, people lose faith because we can't see what He is doing. Patience is a virtue but missing in a lot of people.

And disease serves no purpose. That is wrong thinking. Otherwise why have doctors? Medical science?

the only time youre wasting is time spent doubting Jesus is the truth

i understand you dont have much of a spiritual foundation yet

but that girls suffering isnt something you understand

you dont know how it will effect her choices that may effect how she spends her ETERNAL life

i cant guess how many trials shes going to have to face because of this situation

but you letting her situation be a stumbling block is not what she would want if you dont accept the truth and end up in hell while she accepts Jesus as the only one who can bring her true comfort

her suffering here for a season will look like nothing next to you burning forever choosing to be willingly ignorant of our creator

calling evil good and good evil

you have no idea whats in store for her

and are letting your emotions lead to assumptions

from a worldly perspective

God loves that girl

and she has a chance she didnt earn to be delivered from all suffering...

you do too and God wants you to see past these kinds of things into something deeper

I respect your struggles. These are the struggles of our finite minds.

There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

For anyone reading this thread, dont let such posts bother you. This man clearly already decided that he didnt want anything to do with God before he even saw this video, and is now only using this video to defend his stance.

If God exists, He would only do so in the ways that I desire. Its not a good stance to have.

As for such biological issues people are born with, Jesus answered this question Himself. Such sad birth defects bring glory to God. Imagine if this girl was saved, and on the last day her body was restored to the way it should be. This girl and all those who trust in Him would praise Him.

God never promised this life was going to be paradise, filled with pleasure and free from sorrow. Any argument that God "didnt say this life had to have suffering" isnt an argument.
