But there's lots of sick minded, angry people in the world, it's a good idea for people with self-control to carry a weapon and/or learn some basic pressure points.

That is more than probable. It doesn't change the fact that it is a sad mixing of church and state.
You mean everywhere there are innocent people, or just the churches? Basically you want martial law lol
I think a manned police vehicle in the church parking lot would deter any would-be attackers...
How were they kept safe in New Testament times? Were there not Roman guards about the city? One was relatively safe in Jerusalem because you could always shout for a guard if somebody tried anything.

Churches will or will not be attacked and churches will or will not decide on their own security policy based on the local circumstances and options at hand. Whether we agree or disagree with what any given church does for security reasons won't matter one bit to the church that decided thus.

I'm In total agreement with what you said but fear makes people think of preserving themselves and think of things like furthering the kingdom after that...
If a person Is afraid of death,,then they are worshiping GOD In fear and doubt and desiring security would then have a selfish motive.
You don't have to worship in fear, I see no need to do that. I also see that it is prudent to have some type of armed security type.... I prefer members of the church carrying concealed.
sort of like the woman that got stopped by the police, and she correctly identified herself as a licensed carry person... the cop asked her, "out of curiosity, what kind of gun do you carry?" She said, "I have a high capacity 9mm in my purse, and a pocket sized .380 tucked in my bra. There is also an AR-15 in my trunk." The cop said "good grief, ma'am... what are you afraid of?" she said "nothing at all".....
I agree as long as they are carrying with the well being of others at heart.The just shall live by faith Is not only talking about salvation but It Is also talking about our walk...

Why not just go with out-in-the-open, instead of concealed? (I've always thought concealing weapons rather defeats half the point of carrying a weapon.)
A lot of states that have provision for licensed concealed carry prohibit open carry. Even here in Colorado which is an open carry state some municipalities (Denver) prohibit open carry.
Exactly why I love Missouri law...we can open carry and or concealed carry both on person and in your car/truck without a permit........Where I live people open carry in Walmart even.....Potosi, Missouri...
HAHAHHA awesome...like me today...I was driving thru Potosi Missouri today and the idiots were putting up Christmas lights...ALL cars were going around and the other lane was hanging far left to allow it and keep traffic running smoothly....I swing around as tight as I can get to the orange cones and some idiot came barreling down the road and instead of hanging left he was riding the line tight...we both took each others mirrors out.....and we stopped right there in traffic....I got out and he came running up cussing me until he seen my nine in it's holster sticking out of my seat....he got real nice real fast....change his tune like in .0000000012 seconds.....as fast as the light showing my weapon hit his eyes......as a Marine this is one instance where carrying a weapon saved a fight and good butt whippin right there in the middle of High Street Potosi Missouri.....

A) concealed carry (albeit legal) is nearly nonexistent
B) a loaded AR-15 in your trunk will almost guarantee you jail time
Colorado law allows for unlicensed open carry but requires licensing for concealed carry. Most counties in Colorado have a "shall issue" policy for concealed carry in which case it's just a matter of a modest processing fee, and proof of completion of a concealed carry course (military service suffices). I think I probably come across one or two people a month who are open carrying.
As times change, churches (if their leadership has any wisdom) must change their approach to things such as safety.
Thirty or forty years ago running backgrounds on persons working in children's ministry would have been unheard of whereas today not running backgrounds opens a church up to major liability if something were to happen.
The church that I attend albeit we don't have armed security there are always a couple of ushers walking the building during services and during services only the front entrance is unlocked to remove the possibility of someone sneaking in through a side entrance (both relatively new policies).
Virginia has no statewide law on loaded rifles in a vehicle. It's usually regulated with the hunting laws by localities.
