Why else would God tell you that if it wasn't true? I have a follow up question though: What do we do with this information? Will this have any effect on my evening jog for example? Will I run into a demon on the way, since hell has already broken loose?

To avoid this it may be best to wear a light-reflective jacket during your evening jog. According to the OP it's not going to be a leisurely stroll through the park, that's for sure.
