The calculators are right.
How hard is it to visualize that within a sphere the farther you look forward, the more that the earth drops????
Why is it so hard to understand the simple geometry of a sphere?
That pic is clearly a ball because of the light and shadow effect that emphasize that it is a ball, plus its a basket BALL.
Granted, it is projected on a flat screen... So your point is Irrelevant.

when you look at the horizon it does look flat it is a mirage, because your mind doesn't have all the info to view it as it is, that can only be done from space.
it is not hard to understand the simple geometry of a sphere when you can see the whole thing, take a basketball and place it on your back porch or where ever you can back away from the ball a long ways,
up close to the basketball you can easily see and know it is a sphere, now start walking away from the sphere ball, after awhile you won't be able to comprehend visually that the basketball is a sphere, you may know it in your mind but you won't be able to see it like if your up close to it.
back away from it far enough and the only thing you will see is a circle not even a round circle at a far distance.
the human eyes are continuously adjusting to what you see, and it all depends on the information you can see and visually calculate the height width and circumference of the object no matter what it is.
