Well, since none of us is perfect I think that instead of always looking to find fault in anyone who is mentioned, we would be better served to take the nuggets of wisdom as simply that.
Exposing the false teachings of false teachers has nothing to do with perfection. C. S. Lewis has deceived many evangelical Christians into believing that he was truly evangelical. He has also influenced many into false doctrines. So this is no light matter. Everyone has "nuggets of wisdom" but if they are overridden with false beliefs, we are better of to look elsewhere.

Hello Rosemary!! Wow, 16 years is a long, loooong time. It's good to hear he's coming home very soon.

It was very, VERY helpful at one season of my life. I tried to re-read it recently but it felt like I already knew everything written in it haha. So I didn't get to read it twice unlike other books that you just love reading over and over again.

But that one season of my life was coming out of depression and it helped me be less afraid of God and helped me see who I really am in Christ. I hope it will bless you too as it did me!

Hi Rose and Abigail, I have Joyce Meyer's book Battlefield of the Mind too. As well as the CD and DVD that came with it. JM helped me learn many things about how our minds work . This book is all about the attacks on the mind of worry, doubt, confusion, depression, anger and feelings of condemnation.

Joyce M. encourages Christians how to change their life by changing their mind. (Bible truth) Many of us have been conditioned that if we are thinking something we have to accept it. When in fact our thoughts can be changed by the truth of God's Word. We do not have to accept whatever pops into our mind as truth and act on the wrong emotions and beliefs it triggers that we have been taught all our lives.

Joyce M. has been through physical and mental abuse and confusion most of her young life., she has been used of God to relate to others and teach the way out of "stinking thinking". God taught her to think His way through His Word and the Holy Spirit. He set her free from her old way of thinking and that there is a new and living way not only to think but to live.

This is a basic truth that many people don't know. Because of the abuse JM went through her mind was conditioned to think a certain way that was all distorted with protecting herself., defending and fighting and manipulating in order to get her way and escape the things and people that she perceived were against her. Certain people and situations "triggered" those emotions in her. (loved her vacuum story)

Many people do this in their daily life without even realizing it. She goes through these issue in her book., it tells a familiar story most who have "stinking thinking" can relate to. An excellent book IMO every Christian who reads it can be helped. And non believers can also be helped and lead to Jesus.

Will be praying for your son Rosemary. Amazing how God works in the lives of His children. (and how He uses the books they write to help) :)

Hi joanie...I must admit in my first year of being born again ( Just 2 yrs ago ) Joyce taught me so much outside of me reading the bible from her abuse and how she surrendered all to Jesus so she could do His Will, this helped me to let go of my old anger and hatred towards those who abused me and also some off my daughters, she hides behind nothing and says it how it is :)...I have said it before and I will say it again, I truly believe God led me to listen to her, I was so entangled with dark thoughts towards my abuser, murder thoughts because of what he done to my girls, and often I would go out and drink, find him and attack him verbally and smash his windows in, I was becoming out of control, O But GOD had other plans for me, I now belonged to Him, and before Ii knew it I was led to her teaching, I do not believe in coincidence, I believe Almighty God put her on my path, and now I can walk past that man and not even turn my head, it is done and dusted, and vengeance belongs to God:)...

God will use anyone He chooses to get our attention, and Joyce was just the medicine I needed :)...xox...

Hi Abigail...I have had over 30 yrs of suffering with mental illness, but thanks be to God He is restoring my mind to His way of thinking :)...I have not had a bad episode in these past two years since I been born again, but I do sometimes feel a bad day like we all have, but I can not tell the difference between a bad day or is it the start of a downward spiral again, so I will get the book opened and start reading, I like the way she always points to Scripture to her reason why she has written what she has said...All the glory to God for all us vessels that He uses, how He uses someones pain to bring someone else Joy, all the glory to our Loving Father :)...

As being a victim of abuse myself, there is no way I would sit and listen to a man about it, it takes a women to understand what a women goes through on these subjects, and God gave me her...xox...

Some nice quotes that make you stop and think.

C. S. Lewis is a controversial man: but so would be most of us if we got the prominence he has! LOL!
