Psalms 89 references this covenant

2 Sam 7:
Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around, 2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.”3 Then Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.”
4 But it happened that night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying, 5 “Go and tell My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Would you build a house for Me to dwell in? 6 For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle. 7 Wherever I have moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’”’ 8 Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. 9 And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. 10 Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously, 11 since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house.[a]
12 “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. 15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you.[b] Your throne shall be established forever.”’”
17 According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

I think you are taking it to literally

The abrahamic covenant is Gods covenant he made with abraham

The davidic covenant is a covenant God made with David.

No one said they did not come from an eternal creator.

God has made many covenants. Many, God also made a covenant with Isreal (many call the Palestinian covenant) and with moses (mosaic)

if we do not seperate the covenants, we will only get confused.

in psalms 89 is God confirming his covenant with david, (vs 3 he tells us this, I have made a covenant with and sworn my covenant with David, his chosen) So we would have to look at the covenant God made with david to get context and properly interpret what it means.

Going to the abrahamic or mosaic covenants to try to figure out what God meant in psalms 89 would be a mistake.

Yet Paul seems to think that there is a connection between YHWH covenant with Abraham and with David:

Romans 9:6-8, "However, it is not as though YHWH's plan had failed. For it is not everyone who is a descendant of Yisra’yl who belongs to Yisra’yl. Nor, just because they are his descendants, are they all Abraham's children; but: In Isaac will your seed be called. That is, it is not those who are the children of the flesh who are YHWH's children; but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's seed."

Psalm 105:6-9, "O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Yaaqob, His chosen ones! He is YHWH our Father! His judgments are in all the earth. He has remembered His covenant forever, the Law He commanded for a thousand generations; Which He made; ratified, established, with Abraham, and vowed by His oath to Isaac. He confirmed it; let it stand, to Yaaqob for a Law, and to Israyl for an everlasting covenant."

Galatians 3:27-29, “For as many of you as were immersed into Messiah have put on Messiah. There is not Yehuḏi nor Greek, there is not slave nor free, there is not male and female, for you are all one in Messiah יהושע. And if you are of Messiah, then you are seed of Aḇraham, and heirs according to promise.”

If those in Messiah are a seed of Abraham, heirs accordingto the promise, and David is a decendant of Abraham how can e disconnect the 2? I see it as a continual revealing to us what YHWH had already planned.

When all the Scripture is understood I think it begins to make sense:

Psalm 89:26-37, “He will call out to Me; ‘You are My Father, O YHWH! You are the Rock of My salvation!’ And I will make Him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for Him forever and My covenant will stand fast withHim. And I will establish His Seed forever, and His throne will be as the days of heaven. Should His children forsake My Law, and refuse to walk in My judgments; Should they profane My statutes, and fail to keep My commandments; Then I will punish their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with lashes from the whip. Nevertheless, My lovingkindness I will not utterly withdraw from Him, nor will I ever betray My faithfulness. My covenant I will not break, nor will I change what has gone out of My lips. Once for all, I have vowed by My holiness, I cannot lie, and I say to David; His Seed will endure forever, and his throne will endure before Me like the sun. His throne will be established forever like the moon: the faithful witness in the sky.”

You have to disconnect the 2, thats why you have to talk about each one individually.

David was promised that his nation (Israel) would live in peace in a land in the Middle East (Canaan) And his son (jesus) would be the ruler on Davids throne in Jerusalem in a house (temple) which will be erected, And his seed (Christ) would rule forever.

according to OT prophesy, As a gentile living in a gentile nation, The only thing the davidic covenant relates to me is I and my family will go to Jerusalem once a year to pay honor. If I fail to do this, God will punish me and my family with no rain.

Abraham was promised that through his seed all the nations of the world would be blessed.

Abraham was promised that through his seed all the nations of the world would be blessed.
But even back in Exodus Gentiles could join to YHWH:

Exodus 12:47-49, “All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the Passover to יהוה, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. One law shall be to him that is nativeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourns among you.”

and the "no rain" passage is speaking of the new heavens and new earth times:

Isayah 66:21-24, “And from them too I shall take for priests – for Lĕwites,” declares יהוה. For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before Me,” declares יהוה, “so your seed and your name shall stand. And it shall be that from New moon to New moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” declares יהוה. And they shall go forth and look upon the corpses of the men who have transgressed against Me. For their worm shall not die, and their fire not be quenched. And they shall be repulsive to all flesh!”

Zecharyah 14:8-21, And in that day it shall be that living waters flow from Yerushalayim, half of them toward the eastern sea and half of them toward the western sea, in summer as well as in winter. 9, And יהוהshall be Sovereign over all the earth In that day there shall be one יהוה, and His Name one. 10, All the land shall be changed into a desert plain from Geḇa to Rimmon south of Yerushalayim, and she shall be raised up and inhabited in her place from Binyamin’s Gate to the place of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Ḥanan’ĕl to the winepresses of the sovereign. 11, And they shall dwell in her, and there shall be no more utter destruction, but Yerushalayim shall be safely inhabited. 12, And this is the plague with which יהוה plagues all the people who fought against Yerushalayim: their flesh shall decay while they stand on their feet, and their eyes decay in their sockets, and their tongues decay in their mouths. 13, And it shall be in that day that a great confusion from יהוה is among them, and everyone of them shall seize the hand of his neighbor, and his hand rise up against his neighbor's hand. 14, And Yehuḏah shall fight at Yerushalayim as well. And the wealth of all the nations round about shall be gathered together: gold, and silver, and garments in great quantities. 15, So also is the plague on the horse and the mule, on the camel and the donkey, and on all the cattle that are in those camps – as this plague. 16, And it shall be that all who are left from all the nations which came up against Yerushalayim, shall go up from year to year to bow themselves to the Sovereign, יהוה of hosts, and to celebrate the Festival of Sukkot. 17, And it shall be, that if anyone of the clans of the earth does not come up to Yerushalayim to bow himself to the Sovereign, יהוה of hosts, on them there is to be no rain. 18, And if the clan of Mitsrayim does not come up and enter in, then there is no rain. On them is the plague with which יהוה plagues the nations who do not come up to celebrate the Festival of Sukkot. 19, This is the punishment of Mitsrayim and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to celebrate the Festival of Sukkot. 20, In that day “SET-APART TO יהוה" shall be engraved on the bells of the horses. And the pots in the House of יהוה shall be like the bowls before the sacrifice-place. 21, And every pot in Yerushalayim and Yehuḏah shall be set-apart to יהוה of hosts. And all those who sacrifice shall come and take them and cook in them. And there shall no longer be a merchant in the House of יהוה of hosts, in that day.”

What has that got to do with Gods covenant with David?

Davids covenant deals with Isreal living in peace in HER LAND, and davids son serving as King in a building in Jerusalem.

This is what I was talking about. Maybe you did not understand this? I am not sure

Why did you continue to refuse to answer. Do you know adultry is sin? Do you know murder is sin? Do you know coveting is sin? Do you know honoring your parents is sin? Do you know all the things that are sin?

Yes or no.

There you go again building a theology on one or two lines out of context..........meaning outside of the theme, purpose, audience of the of the letters and the intent of the author.

There is NO truth in what you proclaim and bares witness you do not know the Word of God. The scriptures clearly say that he that says "I KNOW HIM" and DOES NOT Keep God's commandments is a LIAR and the truth is NOT in him (1 John 2:2-4).

Hello AbigailZeke,

Nice to meet you here. You argument above is for forgiveness of sin in order to commit sin. The promise of the NEW Covenant is only to those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW the Word of God.

There is NO truth in what you proclaim and bares witness you do not know the Word of God. The scriptures clearly say that he that says "I KNOW HIM" and DOES NOT Keep God's commandments is a LIAR and the truth is NOT in him (1 John 2:2-4).

The New Covenant is indeed God's LAW (10 commandments) written on the fleshly tables of the heart no longer on stone. Free to LOVE through FAITH. LOVE is the FULFILLING of the LAW to those who walk by FAITH in the SPIRIT of God.

It is true we are saved by GRACE through FAITH and not of ourselves it is a GIFT of GOD and not of WORKS lest any man should boast. IF your FAITH however does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then your FAITH is DEAD and you are STILL in your SINS (James 2:18; 20; 26)

IF you are still in your SINS you do not know HIM who LOVES all and need to SEEK HIM in REPENTANCE and FORGIVENESS.

Forgiveness is ONLY those that BELIEVE FOLLOW the WORD of GOD. If you say you BELIEVE and do not FOLLOW you DECEIVE yourself (James 1:22)

You say ONLY BELIEVE? The DEVILS BELIEVE but they do NOT FOLLOW. In this the children of God and the children of the DEVIL are known. Whosoever does not FOLLOW God's Word is NOT from GOD neither knows HIM (1 John 3:3-10)

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten ( Exodus 20:8-11 ) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness w e are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

This is why Jesus says If you love me, keep my commandments....

Love and the fruit of OBEDIENCE by FAITH and is a sign of those who follow and love the Lamb (Rev 12:17; 14:12; 22:14; Rom 13:8-10)

I answered this like 3 or 4 times. Yes transgression of the Law is sin, adultery is transgression of the Law, murer is transgression of the Law, coveting is transgression of the Law, not honoring father and mother is transgression of the Law. This is in line with everythign I have been saying in the other thread. and those that have no rain are outside the kingdom...

WHat is amazing is scripture says it is by Grace and Mercy that we have power over sin, (we sin less) not by the commandment, Paul said the commandment causes sin to increase, not decrease. Yet if we preach grace, we are told we love sin. Where does that reasoning come from?

It comes from the same type of people in Paul's day, Romans 3:8.

What? Did you even read the passage? They are part of the kingdom. THATS WHY THEY COME TO WORSHIP THE KING.

Jesus rules the world. But according to ther abrahamic covenant, He does it From Jerusalem.

So the new covenant, doesn't require anything from man but to BELIEVE
If we are to faithfully convey what the New Covenant means, it means to REPENT AND BELIEVE. So how come you forgot to include that? Or did you think it is irrelevant to the Gospel? Those who present half a Gospel in reality present "another gospel".

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
(Acts 17:30,31).

Also, even wonder why idolatry was BIG in the times of Moses?
Idolatry is just as big today as in the days of Moses. Have you noticed how some false teachers and so-called "scholars" have become idols for Christians? The apostle John foresaw all this and therefore said "Little children, keep yourselves from idols".

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."

John 5 " Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. 26For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; 27And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

30
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just;
because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me."

mathew 16:24-27 "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works."

romans 2:6-11 "
Who will render to every man according to his deeds:7To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

8But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

10But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11For there is no respect of persons with God....v16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

its not always pleasant at the time to accpept the truth of eternal Judgement, but it yeilds a harvest later

There you go again building a theology on one or two lines out of context..........meaning outside of the theme, purpose, audience of the of the letters and the intent of the author.
Hello UG,

It is not because you say so but because God says so.... Only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow it over the teachings and traditions or men that lead others to break to the commandments of God.

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Calling yourself a child of God does not make you such ONLY the FRUIT shows what FAITH you have. The Jews claimed to be the children of God because they were Abraham's seed. Jesus said to them this is NOT true if you were Abraham's children you would do the works of Abraham.

God's people in the days of Jesus claimed to the the children of Abraham all the while planning how they might kill Jesus.

Known UNREPENTANT SIN will keep you out of God's Kingdom.
