How much sin does it take to be sinning.... if one is in danger of losing their salvation, it would be good to know, because we all do sin, right

Hello Stillness,

We are only not under the Law if we by Faith in God's Word repented from our sin and have accepted God's gift of forgiveness. If we are SINNING against God then we have rejected the gift of God's dear son and are still in our SINS and if we are still in our SINS then we stand guilty before God in SIN and condemned by God's LAW as sinners. If you have SIN in your life then you are indeed "Under the Law" and need to seek God for forgiveness.

How much sin does it take to be sinning.... if one is in danger of losing their salvation, it would be good to know, because we all do sin, right
I find this question interesting, It is one I have asked in the past. I have come to realise that the mistake is in thinking that one has had salvation while still walking in sin. Don't get me wrong, We come to God as we are but faith causes change and it happens as fast as we believe.

Born again is when:

1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Jesus said:

Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

When we sin it is revealed that we are still slaves to sin. thus not free in Christ.

Paul says:

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

And again:

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

The problem is there has been taught a watered down Gospel that suggest we can be saved and born again while still sinning. This is a lie and the majority of well meaning Christians have swallowed it.

Eph 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Eph 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
Eph 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Eph 5:7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Eph 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Eph 5:10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Rom 16:19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

Jesus came to save us from sin as it is written:

Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

and again:

1Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

and:

1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

you can know salvation has come when sin is no longer a part of your life. This happens when we have faith in his promises to cleans us of sin in Jesus and change us completely.

Sorry Brother Jackson I do not understand your point or what you are saying. As mentioned earlier the GREEK Word Sabbaton is not always plural as it depends on the CONTEXT that it is written within the scripture.

Col 2:16 is referring to ALL the special shadow Sabbaths of Leviticus 23 of ALL the annual festivals so it is sabbaths or sabbath days because there is more than one of them (plural). Plural means more than one. You can see them here in Leviticus 23 in a post I made earlier.....

As has already been shown through the scriptures, Col 2 is talking about the Mosaic laws for remission of sin (v14) as context and the within context of v16 is Meat and Drink offerings, New Moons, Festivals and Sabbaths or Sabbath days

(1) CONTEXT of COL 2:16 is v14. is talking about the Mosaic laws for remission of sin that were shadows pointing to Jesus; not the ten commandments of God’s Law. Nowhere are the 10 commandments mentioned in Col chapter 2.

v11-13 Shadows of Mosaic laws of circumcision of the new heart in Christ

14, BLOTTING OUT < G1813 ἐξαλείφωexaleipho (ex-a-lei'-fō) v.means to rub out, i.e. obliterate, erase>the HANDWRITING < G5498 χειρόγραφονcheirographon (chei-ro'-gra-fon) n.means
something hand-written (“chirograph”), i.e. a manuscript specially, a legal document > of ORDINANCES < G1378 δόγμαdogma (d̮og'-ma) n. meansordinance;civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical>that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

v20, Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, v21, Touch not; taste not; handle not; v22, Which all are to perish with the using; after the commandments and doctrines of men?

CONTEXT of the chapter is the CEREMONIAL Mosaic laws for remission of sin that are shadows pointing to Jesus and nailed to the cross with our sins. This is further highlighted that at the death of Jesus the temple vail was torn in two meaning the END of the Mosaic ceremonial laws for remission of SINS as these were fulfilled in Christ (Matthew 27:51).

Further proof that Col 2:16 is talking about the annual Jewish festivals and Mosaic laws for remission of sin? Let’s look at the subject matter of v16

(2) THE CONTEXT OF THE SCRIPTURE V16 is (1) meat, or in drink, or in (2) respec t of an holyday, or of the (3) new moon, or of the (4) sabbath days (plur al)

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in (1) meat, or in drink, or in (2) respect of an hol yday, or of the (3) new moon, or of the (4) sabbath days (plural):

Compare Col 2:16 with the annual Jewish festivals from the Mosaic laws for remission of sin...

Ezekiel 45
17, And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and (1) meat offerings, and drink offerings , in the (2) feasts, and in the (3) new moons, and in the sabbaths <Plural>, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, a nd the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
18, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary:
19, And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
20, And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple: so shall ye reconcile the house.
21, In the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the (2) Passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.

All CONTEXT and points 1-4 match perfectly to the Annual Jewish festivals detailed in both scriptures; also detailed in Leviticus 23; (1) meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the (2) feasts, and in the (3) new moons, and in the sabbaths <Plural> Col 2:16 is referring to at the Annual Jewish festivals and the special Sabbaths that can fall on any day of the week connected to the different Festivals and their offerings for SIN. These were shadows pointing to Jesus and NOT the same as God's 4th commandment.

So it is very clear the Col 2:16 is in reference to the annual Jewish Festivals from the Mosaic laws for remission of sin....

Now we have already shown that the CONTEXT of Col 2 is discussing the Mosaic ceremonial laws for remission of sin written in the book of Moses as being the Shadows pointing to Christ. Col 2 is NO WHERE talking about God’s 10 commandments in the whole chapter.

So let's talk about the PURPOSE of these SABBATHS and share the WORD of GOD
.................

Q. What is the PURPOSE of God's Sabbath in the 4th commandment
.....................

Exodus 20
8, Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9, Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10, But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY?>
11, For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
A. The PURPOSE of the 4th commandment is that it is given as a MEMORIAL of CREATION because God made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them and RESTED on the 7th DAY.

next............

Q.
What is the PURPOSE of the "special" annual festival Sabbaths that can fall on any day of the week...........
Leviticus 23

24, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a <special> sabbath, <any day of the week> a (1) memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25, Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
24, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25, Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
26, And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a (2) day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
28, And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
29, For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30, And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
31, Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32, It shall be unto you a<special> sabbath of rest,<any day of the week> and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your <special> sabbath <any day of the week>.
33, And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
34, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the (3) feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.
35, On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
36, Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.

37, These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
38, Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.
39, Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a <special> sabbath <any day of the week>, and on the eighth day shall be a <special> sabbath <any day of the week>.
40, And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees,4 branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
41, And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42, Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
43, That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
44, And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.

A. The PURPOSE of the special Sabbath of the (1) Feast of Trumpets was in preparation for the day of ATONEMENT for SIN for God's people to afflict themselves in REPENTANCE for SIN and a memorial of God giving his people the 10 commandments (Exodus 19:16-22) and a call for them to be a HOLY people.

This was follow by the special Sabbath of (2) Day Atonement once again a could fall on any day of the week. The PURPOSE of the DAY of ATONEMENT special Sabbath was once again affliction and repentance of SIN while the HIGH PRIEST ministered on behalf of the people of Israel. This then was followed by the (3) Feast of Tabernacles this also included special Sabbaths that could fall on any day of the week. The PURPOSE of these special sabbaths for the Feast of Tabernacles was for remembrance of God's deliverance of God's people from the land of Egypt (the World)

So as can be shown above each of the SABBATHS not only being different in time and occurrence also were given for a specific PURPOSE!

There is more then one of these special Shadow Sabbath of Leviticus from the Jewish annual festivals so they are plural (one or more then one relating to each festival highlighted above) and this is what is being referred to in Col 2.

A snake is not an animal it is a reptile.

It does matter indeed as each Sabbath either God's Sabbath which God's Word says is Forever or the Shadow Sabbaths (plural) or Leviticus have a different purpose and were held at different times that are the Shadow Sabbaths of Col 2 from the Mosaic festivals (not yet fulfilled) They are different. If you break God's 4th commandment which is one of the 10 just like every other commandment you stand guilty before God of committing SIN and SIN will keep you OUT of God's KINGDOM.

NOW I believe I have shared much scripture with you my friend. Consider VERY carefully and pray about what you will do now. I will leave our conversation linked in this post for you to pray about and to study God's Word to see if these things be true. Here is our conversation as a witness to you here.....

Brother LGF.

you believe colosians 2 is yearly sabbath because the spelling or verse 14 ?

brother reptile is animal.

don't you say sabbath mean rest?

Wether yearly sabbat or weekly sabbath, the word sabbath mean rest, am I correct?

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
And this is what I have come to truly understand, we frustrate Grace when we try to live by the law.

That is the reality of the spiritual walk, one or the other, not both.

I never think about the law anymore, I am dead to it, I focus on Him who fulfilled the law

Galatians 2:16-21
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Yes it is true, some however, are trying to be sinless by their own effort, in my experience that is a place for an epic fail.

Our sins are forgiven, yes indeed!!

Actually Under Grace we are sinless, "I write to you little children because your sins are forgiven."

How much sin does it take to be sinning.... if one is in danger of losing their salvation, it would be good to know, because we all do sin, right
Sinning is rejecting the Holy Spirit, not walking in the Light we have to get more light, not continuing in the Love of God, not getting up when we fall, remaining unchanged: in our sin, not forgiving others, did I forget anything O forgetting God. The outcome of rejecting the Holy Spirit id becoming full of violence, No room for Love of God, It's also the mark of the enemy: Ezekiel 28:16

God's Word says that it only takes one known sin that is NOT repented of that will keep you out of God's Kingdom if you continue in it.....

1 John 2
1, My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Acts 17
30, And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent:
31,
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath

James 2

8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well:
9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11, For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Hebrews 10

26, For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,
27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

1 John 2
3, And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4,
He that saith, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 3
4, Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5, And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6, Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him.
7, Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8, He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9, Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10, In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten ( Exodus 20:8-11 ) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks u s not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

What I understand is you Said special sabbath must use s (sabbaths) and lev 23:24 not use s.
No I did not say "special" Sabbaths must use (s). The "special annual sabbaths are for the different yearly festivals.

They are plural because there is more then one of them collectively for the different annual feasts. These "special" Sabbaths are not weekly 7th day Sabbaths.

The "special" annual Sabbaths can fall on any day of the week because they had a different purpose.

God's 4th commandment however is only on the 7th day of the week every week for a memorial of creation.

Hi Gramps,
We are ONLY saved by GRACE through FAITH and NOT of OURSELVES it is a GIFT OF GOD and not of WORKS Lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8)

It's never been about following the law its always been about following Christ by faith through love alone. Faith that works by love is what fulfills God's Law in those that walk in His Spirit (Romans 13:8-10).

Obedience is only the fruit of faith and a sign that someone is genuinely following God's Word (Matthew 7:17-27). If you seek obedience without faith you will never attain it because this is the gift of God written on the heart (Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 2:16; Hebrews 8:10-12).

But if you believe God's Word, your faith will be counted for righteousness in God's eyes (Romans 1:17; Philippians 3:9). If your faith does not have the fruit of obedience (God's work in you) than you are still in your sins and have not seen him or known him and your faith is dead (Philippians 2:13; Hebrews 10:26-27; 1 John 2:2-4; 1 John 3:3-9).

What we are talking about is SIN and how SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's Kingdom. If you profess to have saving FAITH but your faith does NOT have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to God's Word then your faith is DEAD and you are still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE all as he first LOVED us. LOVE is the fulfilling of the LAW in those who walk by FAITH in God's Spirit. (James 2:18; 20; 26; Romans 13:8-10; 1 John 3:3-10; James 2:8-12; Matthew 7:13-20)

There are only two classes of people spoken about in God's Word. These are those that follow God by Faith through LOVE and those that do not. Those that do NOT BELIEVE have rejected His Word. Those that have NOT Heard the WORD are ignorant and God winks at. Those that have heard the Word however and have rejected God's Word are UNBELIEVERS and unless they repent and confess their SINS they WILL NOT Enter into God's Kingdom (Hebrews 10:26-27)

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12).

If you are continuing in SIN it will keep you out of God's Kingdom.

And since the Law could not give us rest, it is evident that not just the commandment of rest but the whole Law had to be done away with. As breaking one command is all it takes

The Lord states we are to Keep and Teach the Commandments.. even the Least..

They are not done away with...

There is a New Covenant where GOD’s Law is written in our heart... the Law of Faith.

A Believer is under Grace at Liberty in Christ.. and are to labour in love because they are loved by GOD.

But the Commandments of GOD are affirmed and expounded on by the Lord’s Testimony.

There is not one Commandment that does not fall under Loving GOD with all our being and loving our neighbour...

The bar is raised because the Lord states we are to Love even our enemies..

GOD is Gracious and Merciful.. and His Law is GOOD.. it was we the Creation that needed changing to remove the enmity..

Very well written LM1 and a very HAPPY SABBATH to you. Mine is soon to close in a few hours. We spent the day in God's creation with the family and kids and saw many wonderful things that God had made for us :)
