You do got a point not all street preaching is of truth, I guess like preachers in church as well.

i do recall Jesus bending down and writing in the dirt of the street, a topic probably not mentioned much as being in the streets but I say he did that as well.

Yet, even in that case, the crowd sought Him out where He was. I'm pretty sure He wasn't standing there, preaching at those guys as they walked by.

Well I am fine with a barter system if that is what you are saying, my ancestors in Italy lived off the land, they had very little need for money

Having said that, Jesus does not say to not work for money, you are twisting (the only word that I could think of) the text.

Jesus is not laying down new law, He is however telling us the difference between the temporal and the eternal.

I really dislike it when... all His words become about condemnation and judgement...sometimes He is just teaching.

That my friend does not work, but if you think that earning a wage is in and of itself evil, then that is your choice, but scripture is pretty clear that it is the love of money that is the problem.

You may laugh all you want. But they were all in one place at a house where they had gathered. They were not at a coliseum or a theater. It is highly unlikely there was even a balcony, since the houses then did not have such things...... they had to go up to the flat roof for that kind of view.

And the Bible never said, anywhere, that 3,000 people heard them speaking. It is written that 3,000 were added that day. It was very standard and normal that entire households would be baptized at the decision of the husband (head of the household). We are not told, at all, how many men actually heard them. We need to be a lot more careful how much of our own assumptions we add to God's word.

I always assumed not everyone there came to the Lord. Let's say they did. What's the biggest "room" you've been in? Any seat 3000? We called them concert halls around here, not merely rooms.

This is kind of pitiful. The Bible clearly tells us that we are to speak sometimes, and not at others... And it also tells us to capture people's hearts for God by a variety of means.

It never said to memorize some hellfire & brimstone verses to stand and pound people with.

If you go to a church with a pastor who doesn't know the word and a congregation thinking it's the pastor's job only to know the word, find a new church.

Did you know that Edward's own nephew, I think it was, committed suicide over that sermon? And six years later, Edwards admitted that kind of preaching was not really effective in the long run.

I am trying to recall Jesus standing on a street corner, yelling at passers by. But, all I can remember is crowds following Him as He silently walked along, because of His reputation, till He reached a particular place, and then the crowds gathered around Him to hear what He might say when He sat down.

That is SO different than what "Street Preachers" do in their assaults upon the public.

It was a mountain, and the outer court of the temple, (which is quite a bit like a plaza in a city), a Samaritan watering hole, a beach, a boat, walking down a road, a party at Pete's house. He street preached often. Don't know why that makes you up tight.
