The Pharisees thought the same thing. They didn't follow the OT Sabbath either, rather, they created their own. But Jesus didn't, Paul didn't, James didn't. They understood as does LB, that God created His Sabbath for us men. And given that LB and James and Paul believed in this Jesus, they chose to honor the commandments that God created specifically for them as Jesus did.
I never heard Paul kill sabbath violators.

the facts are that Americans generally work 5 days out of 7, rest on the 7[SUP]th[/SUP] and congregate to worship on the 1[SUP]st[/SUP].
& no one is '
forced'

but yeah, if a person has a preconception inclined to judgement & condemnation, as opposed to trust, their '
perspective' certainly taints everything they see, even to the point that they are willing to replace the truth with a lie when the truth is in plain view.
What you mean is that if I have a re-conception that the Pope is God, and his creation over rules the Word of the God of the Bible, like you, then I look at things one way, but if I understand God is God, and His Word is superior to the Pope, then I look at things differently.

You are right about one thing, no one is forced to defile God's Sabbath, that is a choice each person makes on their own.

The Sabbath is part of the Law that is fulfilled by each every believer. This they do because of the Love that they have for GOD and their fellow man.

Please reread This.
Fulfilling does not mean replacing my friend.

In regards to defining the word translated fulfilling. Here is an excerpt from Thayer's unabridged Lexicon.

1. to make full, to fill, to fill up:
2. to render full

That is how the word in question is understood. If we would look the word up in our Strong's we would see it defined thusly...

G4137 πληρόω pleroo (play-roh'-o) v.
1. to fully, completely fill
2. (literally) to cram (a net), level up (a hollow)....

To further emphasize this point here are but a few of the many other places the word is used.

Being
filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
(Php 1:11 KJV)

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be
filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
(Col 1:9 KJV)

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
(Eph 4:10 KJV)These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
(Joh 15:11 KJV)

Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
(2Th 1:11 KJV)

Let's take a closer look shall we.

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled (filled, done, crammed; completed to the uttermost) the law. For (because) this, Thou shalt no,commit adultery,Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if any other commandment (injunction, i.e. an authoritative prescription), it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling (cramming to the uttermost) of the law. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
(Rom 13:8-14 KJV)

Fulfilling is cramming; completing to the uttermost not replacing.
For he that loveth another hath fulfilled (filled, done, crammed; completed to the uttermost) the law.

The Law in verse eight is used in reference to the Ten Commandments. That is why Paul goes on to quote a few of them in verse nine. And thenprecedes on to broader the spectrum by mention any other commandment. That is an injunction given. In other words an authoritative prescription. Hence a commandment. Any commandment in relation to love.

As you know Romans is a letter. So All this is in context to things written in it which were previously establish.

Case and point.
GOD has said, "Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (That is, to bring Christ, the Word, all that GOD would have us be. HIS Commandments; HIS Statutes) down from above Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (That is, to bring up Christ, the Word, all that GOD would have us be. HIS Commandments; HIS Statutes again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word (Christ; the Word, the commandments; HIS Statutes manifested in the flesh, our flesh through His flesh) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, in thy heart, and in thy hand: that we may do it; that is, THE WORD OF FAITH, which we preach. And that is the Gospel, the Kingdom of GOD (CHRIST) in you. For GOD hath said, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them." And HE shall be our GOD and we shall be HIS people, for it is GOD that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure. Christ (the Word, His Commandments, GOD's will) in us the hope of Glory. For without this faith (the Word; HIS Christ; His Commandments; HIS Statutes in our hearts and in our minds) it is impossible to please GOD. This the righteousness of GOD being manifested. The righteousness which is by the Faith of Jesus Christ; into all and upon all them that believe for there is no difference.

The verses in Romans 10:6-8; Deut. 30:11-14 ; Hebrews 8:10,11; Jeremiah 31:33 are all speaking of GOD's gift of enabling us through HIS Spirit to be as HE would have us be. We Fulfill to the uttermost HIS Commandments; HIS Statutes; HIS Word because Christ is now in our hearts and we are one as they are one. Not because of something we do. For it is HE that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure. Please notice that this gift in which is being spoken to the Gentiles in Romans 10 was also spoken to Israel. This Good News; the Gospel was available to us from the beginning of Moses ministry. As Hebrews 4:2 states "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."
(Heb 4:2 KJV)

But it did not profit many of them because they did not utilize the Faith. Christ; the Word; HIS Commandments. HIS Statutes in their hearts, minds and in their mouths so they could to do it.

So once again we share; let's walk in Faith; the FAITH. And we shall, not fulfill the lust of the flesh, but fulfill the Love of GOD. His Commandment; HIS Statutes; HIS Word. Christ in us the EXPECTATION of GLORY; GOD!

The Sabbath is of the Commandments; HIS Statutes; HIS Word; Christ which has been place in our hearts that we do that which has placed there. This is the Gospel. The LORD thy GOD will circumcise thy hearts and the hearts of thy seed. Deut. 30:6

God entrust Paul to teach the Gospel and he teach NT time not OT and seem for him every day alike, he know the different between OT and NT that is why he state that statement and he never kill sabbath violators.

to make full,

Jesus give new commandment to make full, can be to add or emty the container and fill It up with new material.

Because Jesus use word new, so I believe It mean to replace.

For Example the law of animal sacrifice. Jesus die oN the cross to fulfilled animal sacrifice.

it mean we do not need make animal sacrifice anymore, Jesus replace It with new material.

I was once approached by a customer on my mail route who attends the world wide church of God (Armstrongism) and he strongly advised me to tell my employer that I can't work on Saturday because it's the Sabbath day and he even implied that if I continue to work on Saturday that my salvation will be in jeopardy.
Hello MMD,

SIN is breaking any of God's 10 commandments (James 2:10-12; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4}

God's Law (10 commandments give us a knowledge of SIN (Romans 3:20) and leads all who SIN to Jesus in REPENTANCE and CONFESSION of SIN for forgiveness and salvation by FAITH (Romans 3:19; Gal 3:24-25)

Your friend was right to warn you, because those practicing KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will be lost.

IN times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

...........................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it just like any of the other 10 when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

If you continue in SIN when God has given you a KNOWLEDGE of the truth then indeed your salvation is in jeopardy because you have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son.

Hebrews 10
26,
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

There is no excuse for SIN as God with the temptation if you seek him will make a way of escape so you can follow him, even if he tests your FAITH.....

1Co 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common4 to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

so, do you care to state again how you do not say that one must keep the Sabbath to be saved? because this post makes it pretty clear that you think so. ( not true, Sabbath is not part of salvation ).

so, do you care to state again how you do not say that one must keep the Sabbath to be saved? because this post makes it pretty clear that you think so. ( not true, Sabbath is not part of salvation ).
We are only saved by GRACE through FAITH and not of ourselves. It is a GIFT of God and not of Works lest any man should boast.

Now if your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are still in your sins and do not KNOW God (James 2:18; 20; 26; Matt 7:13-27; 1 John 3:6-8; Romans 3:31)

Only the BELIEVERS and FOLLOWERS of God's WORD are his people (1 John 2:3-4; 1 John 3:3-10; Rev 12:17; 14:12: 22:14)

The question that you should really be asking yourself as you study God's Word is..........

Are those who PRACTICE KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN in a saved state before God or an UNSAVED state before God?

If you continue in SIN when God has given you a KNOWLEDGE of the truth then indeed your salvation is in jeopardy because you have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son.

there is no such thing as " fruits of obedience ". this is a made -up thing, to try to bring keeping the Law into salvation. ( gentiles never had the law ). '

there is fruit of the sprit- love , joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control, faithfulness. notice what is not listed as a fruit- Sabbath.

I see you did not like to answer the question in the last post. It is ok maybe you can pray about it. You do not have to answer it here if you do not wish to.

LOVE is NOT separated from OBEDIENCE it is the POWER to FOLLOW him who calls you....

Let's look at the scriptures.......

Some highlighted sections in RED to make it easier to understand

The two great commandments......

Deuteronomy 6
5,
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Leviticus 19
18,
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Jackson did you know Jesus is quoting from the Old Testament scriptures in Matthew 22?

Matthew 22

36, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38, This is the first and great commandment.
39, And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

40,ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

Did you notice that Jesus says that on the two great commandments hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets?

links to.......

James 2
8,
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture,Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11,For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Now look at what Jamessays he is also quoting the second great commandment ofLOVE thy neighbor and calls it the royal LAW then he continues to link LOVE to OBEDIENCE to God's 10 commandments

links to.........

Romans 13
8,
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9,For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10, Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Now notice what Paul says; he is once again linking the second great commandment of LOVE thy neighbor and continues to link LOVE to OBEDIENCE to God's 10 commandments and shows that LOVE is OBEDIENCE (fulfills) to God's LAW the 10 commandment.

links to......

Matthew 19
16, And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17, And he said unto him, Why call thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God:BUT IF YOU WILL ENTER INTO LIFE KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
1
8, He saith unto him, WHICH? JESUS SAID,THOU SHALT NOT MURDER, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, HONOR YOU MOTHER AND FATHER AND THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF
20, The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21, Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Jesus showed him that he may have fulfilled His duty of love to his neighbor but not to God breaking commandment 1 and 2 loving riches more than God

Jesus is quoting the 10 commandments in Matthew 19 and Jesus, James and Paul all agree together that LOVE is demonstrated as OBEDIENCE to God's LAW (10 commandments) through Faith in God's Word.

1 John 4
6,
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7, Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8, He that loveth not knoweth not God; for GOD IS LOVE

1 John 5
3,For this is the LOVE of God, that we keep his commandments:
and his commandments are not grievous.

John 14
15
,If you LOVE me keep my commandments
Yes seems like James and John and Paul all agree with Jesus that on the two GREAT commandments of LOVE hand all the LAW and the prophets.

So NO you cannot separate LOVE and OBEDIENCE as the scriptures continue..........

James 2
18,
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
20, But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
26,
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

.......................

The Fruit of LOVE

What does it mean when Jesus quotes the 2 great commandments of LOVE and then says ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS?
1. If God asks you to have no other God's before him and you make other Gods is this LOVE to God?
2. If God asks you not to make or have any Idols and you make and have Idols is this LOVE to God?
3. If God asks you to not take his name in vain and you take the Lord's name is vain is this LOVE to God?
4. If God asks you to keep the 7th Day Sabbath Holy and you do not and go out and work is this LOVE to God?
5. If God asks you to honor your parents and you dishonor your parents is this LOVE to your fellow man?
6. If God says do not kill and you go out and murder someone is this LOVE to your fellow man?
7. If GOd says do not steal and you go out and steal from your neigbor is this LOVE to your fellow man?
8. If God says do not lie and you tell lies is this LOVE to your fellow man?
9. If God says do not commit Adultert and you go out and commit adultery is this LOVE to your fellow man?
10. If GOd asks us not to Covet our neighbors posessions and you become jealous of your neigbor is this LOVE to your fello man?

So NO you cannot separate LOVE and OBEDIENCE demonstrated in action as the scriptures continue.........

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LOVE WITHOUT the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to GOd's LAW because on these two commandments HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS. IF you do have LOVE you will be in HARMONY with GOd's LAW (Obedient)

and again.....

James 2
18,
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
20, But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
26,
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

............................

The Fruit of the SPIRIT

LOVE Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness, Generosity, Self-Control, Kindness, Faithfulness, Modesty, Gentleness, Purity (1 Cor 13)
Once again is LOVE demonstrated in action by WALKING IN THE SPIRIT of GOD (Romans 8:1-4)

However, God ONLY GIves the Holy Spirit to those who OBEY HIM....

Acts 5
32, And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that OBEY him.

If you do not OBEY God you do not have the Holy Spirit and do not KNOW him who LOVES you and are still in your SINS.

...............................

Matthew 7
13, Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14, Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15, Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16, Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17, Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18, A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19, Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20, Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22, Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23, And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24, Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25, And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26, And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27, And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

...................................

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

don't want to talk about the fruits of the Sprit? o.k. well, lets go here- when the rich young ruler came up to Christ, Christ told him " you know the commands' then listed them- but no Sabbath. and, Christ told him- " you still lack one thing, sell all you have, and follow Me. " get that? the rich young ruler stated he kept the commands- Christ told him he was still lacking.

so, you see, commandments do not save- following Jesus does. with no mention of Sabbath.

and, you state you think that believing in Christ saves, then you pull Sabbath keeping into it. double speak? yeah!

Good point, It consistent with the last judgement at Matt 25 and new commandment. Love the least AS a fruit of Holy spirit is a sign of salvation, never in the NT Said sabbath keeper is sign of salvation

Hello Friend

don't want to talk about the fruits of the Sprit?
Fruits of the Spirit were already mentioned in post # 2475 linked. I guess you missed it or did not read the post?

God only gives the Holy Spirit to those who OBEY him (Acts 5:32)

If you are still in your SINS you have not seen him or know him and do not have the Holy Spirit (1 John 3:6-8; Acts 5:32)

o.k. well, lets go here- when the rich young ruler came up to Christ, Christ told him " you know the commands' then listed them- but no Sabbath. and, Christ told him- " you still lack one thing, sell all you have, and follow Me. gb9 you did not read the post # 2475 did you?

How many commandments are in the 10 commandments?

so, you see, commandments do not save- following Jesus does. with no mention of Sabbath.

No one said they did save. Only you say that there is no double speak. What you do not understand is that God's LAW leads is to Christ that we might be saved by FAITH. It is Faith that allows one to WALK inthe SPIRIT to be FREE to LOVE and LOVE is the FULFILLING of the LAW in those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW Jesus.

The Law in verse eight is used in reference to the Ten Commandments.
Paul quotes Leviticus in verse 9.

there's no evidence in scripture that Paul, any of the apostles, or least of all Christ considered "
the Law" to be anything less than all of it. every single line of Leviticus. every single word in Deuteronomy. every single thing the LORD had Moses command. the entire Sinai covenant.

it's purely human teaching and tradition that the Law can be broken apart, some 'categories' abolished and others remaining. there is no scriptural basis to support that.

1 John 2
3, And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 3

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7, Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
