No worries, Lady M!

We can just put sleeves on the shorts and...

I suppose then they would technically be called pants.

No wonder I get so confused. :p
I think you were channeling Cristen during that comment. I had to double check who wrote it.

What can I say?

I learned from the best. ;)

Pockets are a must with pants! :)

I don't wear jeans any more :p

I do like a good pair of shorts to wear under a skirt or dress (if my legs are going to be bare, which they would not be in most scenarios), but they are so hard to come by, I usually just wear leggings, or stretchy (long-legged) pants under my skirt or dress, to cover my legs. Of course, once the skirt or dress goes over them, the pockets are pretty much rendered useless any ways. I have given up on hosiery for the most part :p

Skirts and dress with pockets are such a bonus, you feel like you have really lucked out to find such a rare commodity. Hoodies or jacket type tops without pockets... ugh, they are annoying!

I'll let you decide haha

Clearly, he needs back pockets with button-flap closures (it'll help make him look a little more shapely. :D)

Pockets can work wonders, I'm telling you!

They're not only functional, but they can also distract from, call attention to, or help reshape your best/worst features (why do you think I've gone through so much trouble to add them...)

I'd guess that these changes are accepted by most women, and that's why the company's get away with it.

And Cristen, did you really question how much it would cost a large corporation to add pockets? The kind of business where greed and cutting corners is a staple behavior?

If a pocket cost the company 5 cents each. And they make a million pairs of pants that's $50,000. That's enough to pay off their slave shop workers for a year and still have $49,500 left.
You're right on target with this one, Ugly.

I was reading an article about why designer clothes cost so much (for example, why does one pair of jeans cost $200 while other jeans cost $20?)

One of the differences that was talked about was the "stitches per inch" count--the expensive jeans had more stitches that were sewn into the fabric for each inch, resulting in a stronger, better-quality product--but it also uses up more thread, which is just one of the factors that also pushes up the price.

Slashing the size of pockets in half--or eliminating them completely--saves countless dollar signs because of the cost of the supplies and the fact that it will take someone less time to make them (fewer steps... less time... less money.)

After all, why pay someone 50 cents a day when you can get away with paying them 30 cents...

I just found an article about women's pockets called "The Weird, Complicated, Sexist History of Pockets". And it was a legit, full article, not a joke.
Also I found articles
The Gender Politics of Pockets (theatlantic.com)
The Hunt For Women's Clothes With Pockets (BBC news)
The Disturbing Reason Women's Clothes Historically Don't Have Pockets (msn.com)
I Demand Pocket Equality (jezebel.com)
Pocket Equality: Fight To End the Size Gap Between the Pockets On Mens and Ladies Pants (thePETITIONsite.com)
That last one had 10 supporters out of the goal of 1000. And one of those actually wanted pockets for "gender neutral clothing" because "lgbtq+ people can wear clothes with pockets too." Hahahaha
I guess those 10 are the ones writing the other articles hahaha.

I did notice a striking similarity in the style of the opening post
Do you guys remember a long time ago when there was a thread in Singles in which everyone took on everyone else's avatar and started impersonating each other??? :D

Boy oh boy... Could I have some fun with that one. :p

(Catherder tried impersonating me and basically wrote one HUGE post that said, "Blah, blah, blah," for an entire wall of text... LOL. Yeah, I'd say it was pretty accurate.) :D

I wouldn't say I'm necessarily nuts, but...

You know that old saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree?"

I always tell my parents that I must have fallen off the tree... and rolled into an orange grove (either that, or onto a banana plantation.) :)

A long time ago may have been before my time

After joining two and a half years ago, I used to peruse the singles
forum, but never posted there until after I had been here for a year :D

I would try to find it and bump it back up, but no one would understand it today because half the users from that time are gone and everyone has different avatars now. :(

It all started when, for some reason, several people jokingly took on the same avatar as Popclick, and it was really confusing to me because every time I saw that avatar, I thought it was post from her, when actually, there were like 3 different people all posting under the same avatar!

I then wrote a post to "complain" about it (JOKINGLY), and the next thing you know, everyone was taking on everyone else's avatar and making posts that made it sound like the person they were imitating! You actually had to read the name and not just look at the avatar in order to know who was really posting. Someone even took on Willie's avatar, and everyone who participated or was impersonated was a really great sport about it all... It was so much fun!

It was definitely one of the funniest threads ever, and even one of the mods took on different avatars and made a few posts "as someone else", too. :D

On the subject of pockets (cos that’s the subject) does anyone have difficulty
ironing trousers (pants) with pockets.

Or am I the only one to end up bumping the iron against the corners, or ending up
with marks showing the outline of the pocket etc. Even the fake pockets. lol

You still iron? I doubt if an ironing board has been setup in our house for 25 or 30 years.

I'd say bananas =D

I do remember that thread. But I started using gracelikerains avatar before all that. Maybe even Cristens too. Or someone's.
On my fb, after all these years, I still have myself listed as working at GLRs face painting business haha.

Yeah. Last time I think I ironed anything was 20 years ago. And it wasn't even for me, but a favor for someone else.

After I wash clothes I throw them in a garbage bag, I mean laundry hamper, and pick through them that way. Wrinkled or not haha.

I think the last thing I ironed was my junior prom dress WHICH ALSO COULD HAVE USED POCKETS. I know I have my mom’s old iron in the basement somewhere. The only thing I’d even maybe use it for now is my husband’s work pants, but I don’t want to talk about those because they’re 5.11s like Tommy mentioned and the amount of pockets on them is obscene.
