So any takers for a 62 year old man who appreciates good cooking
can't offer much - unemployed, still renting, but I own a Kia Rio !!
In the world poor,
but in the Lord I'm richer than a millionaire.

Does that count for something?

You start with moving into a place that come the spring was suddenly overrun with dandelions. You decide that since the pilgrims intentionally brought them to North America that they had to be of some use. You decide that if they are not paying rent they will serve a purpose. You collect approx.100 of their lovely yellow blossoms. Snip off just the yellow petals. You need to end up with 4 cups. Pour 3 cups boiling water over the petals, 3 whole cut up lemons. Simmer for 30 minutes. Let them sit overnight. When it is room temp you have created a type of dandelion tea.
You can now strain it through cheese cloth then bring the liquid to a slow boil, stirring in 2 1/8th cup sugar until dissolved, then slowly simmer for about 1 1/2 hours and you have your honey. You can add a few drops of vanilla.

You can also do something similar to create a jelly by adding pectin. Yes I have the recipe for that.
It tastes like marmalade.

Also my name is Deborah which means queen bee so I feel qualified to say I make honey. :)

My mother used a similar method for making rose petal jelly, right down to the lemon juice. It was delicious!

I'm not so sure about calling it honey though...

I'm going with the title of the recipe . :) Different recipes have different consistencies and when it was originally made it was probably a poor man's version of honey. Without the pectin it has the same sort of sticky sweetness of honey, though I agree the bees might object lol.
Great memories from your mom's kitchen.

I think I’m done hoping for Mr Right, but I’ll answer this like I would if I were still searching...

I can be pretty at times.

I can go into really deep bible discussions, he might be surprised by that once he gets to know me. Every Christian should study the Bible, and I think he would enjoy me studying alongside him.

I would respect him. I know this is rare, but I would promote and encourage him to lead the family. I would be submissive to him, make him feel like a man, and support his male ego- which drives him to provide for and protect his family. I would massage his feet, cook for him, keep the house clean, etc.

I’m good at organizing. I have ways of solving household problems that some have found impressive. Having to live without a man, I’ve learned to do manly things around the house. I can fix things, I can rearrange furniture, put furniture together, sand, paint, I’ve even made furniture. I’m not the person who says I will do a project and years go by, no I get it done, if it’s not a back burner type of project.

I work alongside my son as he cooks. He loves that I just seem to know what he needs. I clean the dishes as he dirties them, I chop the veggies as he needs them, I get out the ingredients he needs, and put away the ones he no longer needs. He says it’s like he has a prep cook.

That is also how I would be in a marriage- a helpmate that would make everyday life less of a burden. I had a bf one time who had to ride in the backseat with me for an hour long trip. He kept falling asleep, and his head kept nodding forward, and he would wake up to hold his head up, but kept falling back asleep. So I held his head up the whole hour long trip so that he could sleep. Another time he came in from the cold, his hands literally like ice. I said “Give me your hands.” He said no, they were way too cold. I took them anyways and warmed them up with mine.

I will not argue. There will be no yelling from me, slamming doors, revenge of any kind, I’m not violent or harsh. I forgive quickly and completely. I am in a constant state of “what can I do to make you feel loved?” If I see you’re cold, I’ll put a blanket on you without you having to ask. I try to leave things and people in better condition then before I arrived.

I am trustworthy. You could literally leave a billion dollars on the table, and I won’t touch it. I have had 2 millionaires offer me whatever I want in life, and I didn’t get greedy, dirt poor as I am. I had another situation, involving money, and my honesty was rewarded, and I had lunch with the Governor of Michigan. I have been tested, I will never betray you, cheat on you, gossip about you, etc.

I am capable of deep love. Some people are just emotionally unavailable, or too scared to open up and be vulnerable to someone else. I do have trust issues, but once you’re in, you’re in lol. I can be very passionate and sensual. And I’ve been told by exboyfriends that I’m a great kisser. I can rub your back for hours as you go to sleep, I am not lazy in wanting you to feel good, happy, satisfied, and loved. I will not be like most wives who often say “I have a headache.” I can go years without a headache.

I’ve got your back, when the world comes against you, I will be there sticking up for you, defending your good name. I will be there when you need someone to hold. In good times and bad times, I will be by your side, making your life as happy as possible.

SONG
“I Will Be Here” by Steven Curtis Chapman

Tomorrow morning if you wake up, and the sun does not appear, I... I will be here.

If in the dark we lose sight of love, hold my hand and have no fear- cause I... I will be here.

I will be here when you feel like being quiet, or when you need to speak your mind, I will listen.

And I will be here when the laughter turns to crying, through the winning, losing, and trying, we’ll be together, cause I will be here.

Tomorrow morning if you wake up, and the future is unclear, I... I will be here.

As sure as seasons are made for change, our lifetimes are made for years, so I... I will be here..

I will be here, so you can cry on my shoulder, and when the mirror tells us we’re older, I will hold you, and I will be here to watch you grow in beauty, and tell you all the things you mean to me, I will be here.

Hmmm, I will be true to the promise I have made, to you, and to the One Who gave you to-oo-oo me.

All I have to offer is a place to lay your head down, a full refrigerator, and enough love to go around the world twice. I'm embarrassed to say this, but I'm not good with home repairs :( I'm okay with auto ones, but I usually take mine to the dealer ( I know, I know that they charge too much, but I have a service contract for maintenance). On the upside, I can and do enjoy cooking! I can deep clean the home ( I even cleaned my toilet tank yesterday lol ) and can do a financial budget with ease. I won't cheat or go anywhere that I'm not supposed to be. When you call, I'll come running home! I'll support you in anything that you do, even if I disagree with it from the get-go. You'll get a massage/rub whenever your work day has been excruciating. You'll get hot baths ran complete with a laptop to watch Netflix (if so desired) with candles. You'll get "thinking of you" surprises randomly. You'll find notes (sometimes hidden away in your car, purse, etc.) randomly. I'll be your shoulder to cry on and I'll be there to listen to you vent. If you make me angry, I'll just take a walk to cool off and pray/talk to God about the situation. If I make you angry, I'll apologize and make things right between us again.

That's really all I have to offer :( It's so sad that many do not think like this. Satan has this world so twisted :( The enemy tries his hardest to get us not to think like this. There is so much anger, hurt, and pain in some relationships today. The enemy would love to see our homes broken up and have relations before marriage. When I date, it will be for the intention of marriage :) If you're dating just to date, wouldn't you be dating only to break up?

Nice thread Tommy379!

I always feel a bit odd when I list only positive things about myself out of fear of portraying myself out to be someone I'm not, so I'll probably list things that may also be seen as less than ideal.

I have a unique ability to discuss controversial topics, doctrine, politics, etc... in a manner that if someone doesn't agree with me, I don't have the need to personally blast them. Part of "adulting" is learning to articulate your point of view while agreeing to disagree if you reach a point in the discussion that it is no longer fruitful. I strive to look at things from multiple perspectives because growing up, I was brainwashed into believing everything that was ever told to me in a false religion. The bad thing about this is, I thoroughly enjoy discussing controversial topics, doctrine, politics, etc... way too much where some people are mentally (and emotionally) exhausted from deep and heavy discussions.

I may not be as handy as Tommy379 is, but google and youtube have taught me how to be a do-it-yourself type of guy :p. When something isn't working, I don't care if it takes me 12 hours straight, I won't stop until the job is done. What would take Tommy an hour to do replacing ceiling fans, light fixtures, installing receding lights will take me 12 hours... I basically get so fixated on doing something that I forget to eat or notice that I'm hungry until after the job is done. So this is sort of a bad thing in that I'm in my own little world into I finish doing whatever it is I'm doing. I have tried taking breaks but I can't even relax because the entire time I'm on a "break" I'm thinking about what is wrong/giving me grief in fixing. Dumb, I know. :p

I have a wicked sense of humor. Sometimes though, I don't know when I'm crossing the line. You might laugh hysterically at something I said one minute, but think I'm in a locker room with Donald Trump the next. The reactions can be pretty polarizing.

Thanks.

I might as well list a negative.

I can do my own laundry, but I can't get my socks in the hamper. I find them laying about everywhere.
