Brother, that's all I have been trying to say. :)
Non you don't go out,sin 50 times a day in habitual unconfessed wilful sin,and say " oh well, nobody's perfect, but hey,its all under the blood"

Now,will that carnal beliver be saved if he dies? Well it becomes a crap game. Hopefully yes,but maybe Jesus is tired of being doo dooed on.

All sin is to be confessed,REPENTED OF AND RENOUNCED,humbly and sorrowfully dealt with, and then, should it happen again,it should break our hearts.

The day of pentecost came for power. Power ti walk in Holiness and power to do what Jesus did

2. Because God predestined believers in His Truth according to His foreknowledge before the foundation of the world to be conformed to the image of his Son, and then, in time, He calls and justifies us, and finally He will glorify us.

Romans 8:29-30: “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”

Ephesians 1:5, 7, 11, 13: "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will ... In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace ... In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: ... In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation ..."

2 Corinthians 2:13: "... God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth."

93. Because salvation IS salvation.

Hebrews 5:9: "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec."

Hebrews 7:25: "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

94. The believer cannot perish.

John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

95. Because God’s promise that through the offering of Christ He will put away the believer’s sins, and will remember them no more.

Hebrews 10:17: “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”

96. Because God is for us!

Romans 8:31: "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"

97. God chastens His children rather than exiling them to Hell.

1 Corinthians 11:31-32: "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world."

98. God allows His children to suffer loss of rewards in Heaven rather than exiling them to Hell.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15: "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

99. God allows His children to suffer shame at His coming rather than exiling them to Hell.

1 John 2:28: "And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming."

100. Because God is greater than our heart.

1 John 3:20: "For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things."

101. God is able to save and keep us.

2 Timothy 1:12: "... I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."

Jude 1:24: "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen."

You are not entitled to it when I/we have clarified for you that is not what I/we believe. Since we have clarified, and you keep insisting that is exactly what we believe, you are bearing false witness - which is lying.
Okay, since I have clarified what I'm saying, don't ever call what I'm saying a works gospel or you will be lying.

Ralph, anyone who even has a cursory read of this thread will see that is all you keep harping about. Works, works, works, over and over again.
Let's go to another thread and we'll talk about end times, end times, end times, or, spiritual gifts, spiritual gifts, spiritual gifts. Okay?

That is your measuring stick for anyone who claims salvation.
The Bible says works are the measuring stick among men for anyone who claims salvation-James 2:18,24.

Yet, as I, and many others have pointed out, even a charlatan can have abundant works, so they cannot be a sure sign of salvation.
No, unsaved people do not have works. They can do nothing apart from Jesus. Even in Matthew 7, the people who will be denied entry into the kingdom when Jesus comes back have only their ministerial service to make an appeal to Jesus for entry into the kingdom. If they had works of obedience they would not be lawless and they would be ushered into the kingdom, not rejected.

We need nothing to justify our salvation before God.
As I have shown, James and Jesus both differ with you.

You are shown to have saving faith by what you do.

Exactly. You are finally catching on. We have been made holy by Jesus. We have no sins attributed to us - they are all gone. The basis for living a life pleasing to God is because it brings Him glory, justifies us before men, and secures for us treasure in heaven.
What happened to your 'strive to live holy' line? (note, 'strive').
Now you're back to saying you don't have to live holy since your sins disappear? (it's a question, answer it, please).

That's making grace a license to sin. If you want to show us that is not, start by defining for us what making grace a license to sin is. You'll notice that while you're thinking up the answer to that you'll find yourself being careful to not nullify your own argument.

An unbeliever won't go to heaven simply because he doesn't believe - that one sin alone is enough to damn him.
You did answer my inquiry.

"(E)xplain the difference you're making between the unbeliever who lives in sin and won't inherit the kingdom and the believer striving to live a holy life."

It's important to your argument that you answer this.

And again, we inherit eternal life because of what Jesus did for us. Not from anything we do, or not do, ever.
You're preaching to the choir here. Everybody knows this.
Works show if you really have eternal life in you.

A believer may choose, based on his free will, to do little or nothing to serve the Lord. Those works are the ones that will be burned up as "hay and stubble" at the Judgment Seat, Yet, as the Bible says, he himself will remain saved.
It's impossible that is what Paul was saying in 1 Corinthians 3:8-15. We know that because it contradicts John who says the person who does not obey the commands of Jesus is not saved. But you are erroneously interpreting Paul to be saying the person who does NOT obey the commands of Jesus is saved despite his disobedience. That's not even the context of the passage. The context is works of service in building the kingdom of believers.

Our works, before or after we believe, have nothing to do with our salvation. That is settled. And has been settled for over 2,000 years. It's a gift, unmerited in any way, shape, or form.
Works have nothing to do with receiving eternal life in salvation. That is entirely on the basis of receiving the forgiveness of God through your faith in Him.

But works have everything to do with showing you to have received that forgiveness. If you can't show you have God's forgiveness by what you do you probably don't have God's forgiveness/salvation and you will rejected as an unbeliever when Christ returns.

The Bible spells it out for us how we can know for sure if we believe in God's forgiveness and have received it. We make our calling and election sure by keeping God's commands. No, unbelievers do not do that. Jesus said you can not do that apart from Him.

Careful of your pride, Ralph.
Paul said to compete as one trying to win.
That has nothing to do with pride.

Your move.

Marriage Supper not the wedding.

Let us rejoice and let us exult, and we will give glory to Him, because the marriage of the Lamb came, and His wife prepared herself. And it was given to her that she be clothed in fine linen, pure and bright; for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the saints. And he says to me, Write: Blessed are the ones having been called to the supper of the marriage of the Lamb. And he says to me, These words of God are true.
(Rev 19:7-9 LITV-TSP)

The Marriage has already happened we await the Marriage Supper. It is written, "I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD".

For it is He that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure. Christ in us the hope of Glory.

Therefore It has been consummated. For we are the Temple of GOD; the Body of Christ. They two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery but I speak of Christ and the Church. Raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
(Jeremiah 31:32; Eph 5:31,32; 2:6 KJV)

You are probably already aware of this but just in case; here is an excerpt from the following Web site: Marriage in the Bible

  1. There were three states of a marriage in the Bible:
    1. Stage 1: signing the "ketubbah" contract (Creating the marriage bond)
i. The bride would chose her husband and her father would sign a legal contract with him called a "ketubbah".
ii. Once this is signed the couple is 100% married but do not have sex yet.
iii. Young children were often married, (arraigned marriage) but did not consummate until of age.

  1. Stage 2: The "chuppah": sexual consummation.
i. Up to 7 years later, the groom is able to raise the money as set out in the ketubbah contract and notifies the father of the bride, who then sets a date to consummate the marriage at the bride's home.
ii. The bride waits with her maidens, for the arrival of the groom and his companions.
iii. The couple enters the chuppah room and consummates the marriage while the companions of the bride and groom wait and celebrate outside or in the next room.
iv. The groom hands the bloodied "proof of virginity cloth" to the witnesses chosen by the bride's parents, who then give it to the bride for safekeeping.

  1. Stage 3: The wedding feast
i. After consummation, the entire wedding party walks to the house of the groom in a procession for a wedding feast.
ii. At the conclusion of the wedding feast, the couple has completed the ancient ritual of marriage.
The rapture of the bride and the business in heaven, the grooms house

You saying the admonitions addressing sin are not gor you.?

What about he chastens and chastises every son?
Since there is no sin the bible is batting the air over nothing

You are invited to a wedding. You accept the invitation and you turn up. Halfway through the reception the best man and ushers come up to you and say that the Groom has changed his mind about your invite and you are to leave this minute because you havn't done enough to get ready. After recovering from the shock you wonder what exactly you should have done to meet the Grooms standards and why you were invited in the first place.

This appears to be how some see Gods attitude towards themselves. We can never be ready enough to meet Gods standards that why Christ met them for us. We are all invited to the wedding. All we need to prepare for is where we will be in the seating arrangements.
Good analogy, of how SOME, or as it says, MANY see GOD. I hope you mean that all invited to the wedding, is the fact that ALL TRUE BELIEVERS. Because the MANY in the Church, will not make it, because they did not come through the right gate, of genuinely KNOWING HIM:

Matthew 7:13-23 (HCSB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

[SUP]15 [/SUP] “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
[SUP]17 [/SUP] In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit.
[SUP]19 [/SUP] Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
[SUP]20 [/SUP] So you’ll recognize them by their fruit.

[SUP]21 [/SUP] “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but ⌊only⌋ the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.
[SUP]22 [/SUP] On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’
[SUP]23 [/SUP] Then I will announce to them,
‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!’

NOTICE: In VERSE 22, all of those MANY think they are Christians, and Unbelievers are NOT even mentioned in that verse.

That gives a DEEPER MEANING to these Verses:

Matthew 13:46-50 (NKJV)
[SUP]46 [/SUP] who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
[SUP]47 [/SUP] "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind,
[SUP]48 [/SUP] which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.
[SUP]49 [/SUP] So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just,
[SUP]50 [/SUP] and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

Notice: The Pearl of Great Price, that I believe it is talking about is the NARROW GATE, of KNOWING HIM intimately and personally, as LORD, meaning MASTER. Only a FEW find it. That explains how the MANY become embittered towards GOD, because they THINK they deserved to be Saved.

Okay, since I have clarified what I'm saying, don't ever call what I'm saying a works gospel or you will be lying.
Okay, then don't ever claim we teach grace is a license to sin.

Now, let me ask you, must (not will) a Christian have works to be saved?

The Bible says works are the measuring stick among men for anyone who claims salvation-James 2:18,24.
Bingo! We have a winner! They justify us before men, not before God! Glad to see you come around, Ralph!

No, unsaved people do not have works.
You are shown to have saving faith by what you do.
Can an unsaved person feed the poor? Care for the sick? Visit people in prison? Clothe the naked? Shelter the homeless?

It's you who keeps saying if one is saved they will demonstrate it by their good works, and we keep trying to explain to you, works are not the measuring stick.

Is Mother Teresa saved, Ralph? She had some amazing good works, but she denied Jesus was the only way to heaven and encouraged people who were Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc., to be better Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists.

But if we were to judge her by her works, as you would, we would have to say she was a stellar Christian.

You put your foot in it that time, Ralph.

What happened to your 'strive to live holy' line? (note, 'strive').
Now you're back to saying you don't have to live holy since your sins disappear? (it's a question, answer it, please).
We should. But not all will. I keep answering this question, and you keep ignoring the specifics.

I'll quote myself:

A believer may choose, based on his free will, to do little or nothing to serve the Lord. Those works are the ones that will be burned up as "hay and stubble" at the Judgment Seat, Yet, as the Bible says, he himself will remain saved.

Our works, before or after we believe, have nothing to do with our salvation. That is settled. And has been settled for over 2,000 years. It's a gift, unmerited in any way, shape, or form.
Mmm-kay?

That's making grace a license to sin.
Aaaaannnd we're back to that accusation again. (smh)

start by defining for us what making grace a license to sin is.
If I said, "Hey! Our sins are forgiven! Go out and murder, steal, lie, and pillage! Weeeeee!!!"

Not saying that, Ralph. Never did. No one here did.

Works show if you really have eternal life in you.
Yet again, even a charlatan can have exceptional works - and you would be fooled.

you are erroneously interpreting Paul to be saying the person who does NOT obey the commands of Jesus is saved despite his disobedience.
I swear, it's like pounding my head against a wall...

Okay, Ralph. You say we are to obey the commands of Jesus. Here's some:

"Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48)

Are you perfect, Ralph?

No? Well, here's how you can be! Jesus said if you want to be perfect, sell everything you have and give it to the poor. (Matthew 19:21)

I'm guessing you still have possessions - right, Ralph?

Should people pluck out their eyes, or hack off their hands? Jesus said to do that if they offend you. (Matthew 5:29-30)

I to assume you have both eyes and hands?

Do you pray in a closet? Jesus said to do that. (Matthew 6:5-8)

Jesus said to love the Lord thy God with ALL your heart, soul, and mind. (Matthew 22:37)

Do you?

Jesus said if you have two coats to give one to the poor (Luke 3:11)

Do you own more than one coat, Ralph?

I could go on and on, but I hope you see the point. If you demand that we are to obey all of the commands of Jesus, you better get to work, pal.

Thankfully, Jesus summed them all up in this command: "Believe in the One He (the Father) has sent." (John 6:29)

That would be Jesus, Ralph. And we do. So our works are full up.

Paul said to compete as one trying to win.
That has nothing to do with pride.
I was teasing you, Ralph - trying to lighten the mood.

What about he chastens and chastises every son?
Exactly. He chastens us because we are sons. And God doesn't do it to punish, but to correct.

Again - all sins are forgiven. past, present, and future. If you deny this, then you better pray Jesus comes back to die for whatever ones He missed - because without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.

So the most carnal sinful believer gets a wink and a pass.
NO, but He always provides for our SHORT COMINGS.

Romans 3:22-27 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
[SUP]23 [/SUP]
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
[SUP]24 [/SUP] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
[SUP]25 [/SUP] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
[SUP]26 [/SUP] To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
[SUP]27 [/SUP] Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

1 John 1:7-10 (NCV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] But if we live in the light, as God is in the light, we can share fellowship with each other. Then the blood of Jesus, God’s Son, cleanses us from every sin.
[SUP]8 [/SUP] If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
[SUP]9 [/SUP] But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.
[SUP]10 [/SUP] If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God’s teaching.

We are the ones WHO has a spiritual new Nature, and who admits our sins to GOD, and Repents of them.

I'm pretty sure that's talking about Jews back in the day professing to be Christians, almost believing, but going back to the Law. If they remained in that state, of course, they could not be saved.
Only if they remain in that state.
There is only one sin that cannot be forgiven.
A total and wilfull rejection of Jesus, his death, burial and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins.

That does not make sense for if someone likes to steal, and rejects the truth of stealing, then that sin cannot be forgiven.

Of course they cannot be forgiven if they reject Jesus, but if they reject the truth the sin of stealing, fornicating, lying, cannot be forgiven either. If they hold unto sin it cannot be forgiven no matter how much they confess Christ.

The only sin that cannot be forgiven is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which means attributing something evil to God when He is good, such as the Pharisees saying Jesus cast our devils by Beelzebub, which He cast out devils by the Holy Spirit,so they were saying that He has an unclean spirit.

If we say God does not love me,does not care about me,is punishing me,is responsible for natural disasters, and wars, and such things, that is attributing something evil to God that is not of Him,and we are under grace, and God rains on the just and unjust, and God said all wars come from the lusts of people, and not Him,with the exception of Israel in the Old Testament and when He puts them all back on their land, which all Jews will go back in the future, for God said He will leave none of them in the nations, and they will be in the truth from that point forwards,so watch out world when God is on the Jews side like back in the Old Testament.

A person can blaspheme against the Son,the man Christ Jesus, and be forgiven, but cannot blaspheme against the Spirit, and everyone that rejects the truth to abstain from sin whatever it is will not be forgiven, not only people that reject Jesus.

Paul said that charity does not think an evil thought, and does not sin by the Spirit, and only goes by their needs, and helps the poor and needy if possible.

The Bible says if a person does not continue in the goodness of God they will be cut off,and tells the saints to fear concerning that.

Do not depart from the living God by the deceitfulness of sins.

God is not mocked whatever a person sows that shall they reap.

Blessed is the man that endures temptation, and does not sin,for he shall receive the crown of life given to all the saints that love Christ,so this is not a reward, but it is eternal life for it is given to all the saints that love Jesus, and will there be people in heaven that do not love Jesus, and it has to do with them abstaining from sin.

The Lord knows them that are His having this seal, that everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Awake to righteousness, and sin not,but not all have the knowledge of God,and Paul speaks that to their shame.

If a person hates sin,and does not want sin,by the Spirit they can abstain from sin,for a Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, and God will not allow them to be tempted above what they are able, and will give them an escape from the temptation so they can bear it,so there is no excuse.

If people that claim Christ does not abstain from sin,but holds unto sin thinking they are alright with God,those sins cannot be forgiven, which is why the Bible says if a person wilfully sins then there is no more sacrifice for that sin,for the blood of Christ cannot forgive, and wash away that sin if they hold unto it.

What counts as a rejection?

Jesus replied, "'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'"
"All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Matthew 19:17-21

Did this young man reject Jesus? If we fail to follow do we reject Jesus also?

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Hi Endoscopy...I am not sure weather you saw the first post by Pen on why he said he was going to post all these Scriptures or not , but I myself is so thankful because these past 4/5 days I have had a weak moment in my faith and confusion , and my brother Pen kindly posted three long post explaining about who we are in Christ , how we are saved , and onto eternal life...

You may not need to read these long post as you put it , but I needed to read every single word he wrote because as I read them I had tears of comfort that was undoing the confusion in my mind...Reading them right through was so beautiful and moving , they touched my heart being all put together like that...Praise God \o/...

I can understand some people do post long Scripture and it can become tiresome if the long post has absolutely nothing to do with what is being discussed , but for me what Pen wrote was the beautiful words of my LORD and Savior...xox...

Yes the young man rejected Jesus.
Would not follow him. His love of money was greater than his love for Jesus.

To reject Jesus is to reject his forgiveness of sins.

However if we accept Jesus and place our faith in him we will still struggle with stuff.
The point being we will struggle.
If we did not struggle then are we in Jesus?

With struggle I mean "Jesus I place this before you and I don't want to be like this, please help me"
We are not rejecting Jesus. We are being honest and asking him to conform us to his image.

Much grace to you as well.

You miss my point.
Only one sin cannot be forgiven.
Refusing to accept Jesus as saviour.

When we do that, then I'd and when we sin we are forgiven on account of Jesus.
Any believer who sins will bring it before Jesus.

His grace is not a licence to sin.
His grace forgives our sins.

I can understand some people do post long Scripture and it can become tiresome if the long post has absolutely nothing to do with what is being discussed , but for me what Pen wrote was the beautiful words of my LORD and Savior...xox...
yeah i agree
