In the past month, I’ve met three different women, all about my age, who really...shined. This has been a time in my life where meeting new people is par for the course; most of them are forgotten as soon as they walk away, and I’m sure it works the other way around as well. But the ladies I remember are different in my mind; something about them struck a chord with me, and I just find it interesting how, in a sea of people, so few are truly memorable. Two of these women I’m unlikely to ever run into again, yet I know I won’t forget the impact they each had during the short time I was around them.

None of them did or said anything that was really all that special; none of them went out of their way to speak to me; none of them were extraordinary in any way upon first glance.

What sticks in my mind about each of them though, is how expressive their eyes were.

Does that sound weird? I feel like that’s weird.

But it’s always been little things like that that make me remember people. Sometimes a person stands out to me because they rarely smile, or because their laugh is contagious, or because of the way they move. Just small things that they don’t do on purpose, that are just a part of who they are, but that make them...memorable.

What type of things make a person really stand out above the crowd for you? It can be anything, big or small, from appearance to personality to actions or words. What makes you remember a particular person more than anyone else?

You shrink your text down so tiny, it is hardly readable. So, here is your post so people can see it.......

This one was good, so I felt it really should be big enough to share with others.

Oh no! I’m sorry! I love that font but I always forget how small it is, especially on a computer screen (I only post from my phone). Willie, thanks for making it easier to read!

Use the don't, just increase the size. (=

My laptop browser default for CC is zoom percentage 170. So I never have trouble.

As far as a response to the OP... for myself it's varied. I have such an interest in observing people I tend to have more chances to see a wider variety of things.
I would suspect that, often times, the things we remember positively come down to
It reminds us of a positive memory
It reminds us of ourselves (somewhat the idea behind mirroring people)
We connect what we see to something good to use, true or not.

An example on that last one is something I have done many times. I used to eat out a lot, so often saw waitresses. At times I would see one that stood out to me and I felt enamored immediately. To my eye they seemed sweet, pure, innocent, happy, cutely naive... just something in their face, dress, body language. So I automatically assumed it was true. It didn't take long for me to realize how wrong I usually was. I'd hear them cussing like a sailor, most often. Destroyed my little fairy tale.
But, that a the basic idea I was getting at. We apply attributes we like to certain things m, then apply them to people with those attributes.

Well being silly and annoying is one that works for me but as far as me actually remembering someone typically odd behaviour catches my attention like turning on a Tv and then going outside and claim to be "watching it" my uncle does this and it cracks me up.
Hoarding and very lame jokes my father is like this.
Liking unique stuff that others don't like my friend Valorie she's into Norse mythology so it's easy to remember her.
My brother and tons of other people are into pokemon where as for a long time I wasn't so it was simple to remember him though some things don't always help me remember someone.
Like for instance being a nuisance makes me want to "forget someone" no matter how annoying they are alot have disappeared from my thoughts for this reason.

The people I remember most were the ones that were either kind, helpful or mean... Too bad you can't make yourself forget the meanies..

Assuming we're talking memorable in a good way...

Physical characteristics, eyes and hands. Hands are a special study of mine, and let me tell you, Watson, I've frightened some people by telling them what their hands tell me :p. (Not much, but it's fun to guess anyway). Eyes it could be expression, shape, color, a way they have of narrowing or widening them, or a direct or indirect way of looking at you.

Another thing that will make me remember people is openness. If they're brave enough to be outgoing and/or vulnerable, that really impresses me. And the people who include those on the sidelines. My mom always drilled that into our heads, so it is something I'll really notice and remember if someone does it.

My humor is quite common, and some think I'm hilarious. Those people are crazy... or paid actors... I'll take what i can get. But it is an element that often does not show up on CC, though a few years ago it did more often.
