Scrolling through Facebook while half asleep is wild...

”Learn how to grow mushrooms for profit!”
”Look at this picture of a beautiful chicken”
”You too can make soap with a picture of a tree on it”
” Buy this shampoo for $40 a bottle”
”Look at this compilation of ridiculous infomercial incompetence” BUT CAN IT PICK UP A PANCAKE?
”Why did someone take a picture of a toilet?”
”Here’s a recipe video”
”And another one”
”Oh, one more!”
”Cookie dough frosting? Yes thank you”
”And look at THIS chicken, it’s beautifuller”
”10 ways you’re destroying the planet” SORRY
“15 habits of smart folks” I’m afraid to find out
”Ladies you’ve been doing your makeup wrong” I’m listening...
”Here’s an owl made out of vegetables”
“Here’s a bench made out of doors”
”Here’s a bunch of stuff you can make out of other stuff even though you can buy the stuff that does the thing without having to build the stuff”
”Stop scrolling, this junk is from yesterday” O sry

Are you hacked into my Facebook account?

I'm going to wake up tomorrow with my gender set to "woods nymph" and my status as "cohabiting with a lobster. "

Worked until 9.30 pm yesterday and had a small smelly fish party when I got home. Went to bed around 00.30, up at 6. Picked up my car at the workshop after three weeks carless. And I finally got it. I found my passion. I love driving! Having the car all by myself. Listening to the music I like. Coming in time to the lecture. Life is great! Now it is language politics and linguistics, meeting a friend and then having lamb for dinner together with my lodger. Can it get better???? Really?

I accidentally ran a school bus stop sign, and if the bus driver’s glare is anything to judge by, I should be rotting in hell soon.

Well!! She stopped the bus right next to where I park to drop my son off. I ended up almost exactly even with the front of the bus. And there were no kids in the road- don’t worry, I DO stop for those. I didn’t even see the sign fold out, and I only knew there was a problem when the driver yelled at me. Like, kind of a lot. And loud. So the other parents dropping off kids knew my mistake, too.

I apologized. I told her I didn’t see her sign. She thought I said I didn’t see the bus. And apparently, people who can’t see a giant yellow bus should have their license revoked.

I can’t really disagree, but I CAN see a giant yellow bus, so it’s a moot point.

Stop signs, on the other hand...

Would it be a bit excessive and sarcastic if from now on, every time I see her and her giant yellow bus, I stop a respectful 100 feet away, whether the sign is out or not?

Even if you couldn't see her sign, how could you miss the buses flashing red lights?

I don’t know, really. The school parking is right around a corner, it’s a left turn, and the bus was parked on the other side of the road, facing me. When I park there, I’ve barely stopped turning the wheel to the left and have to crank it to the right quick to park. All I can figure is that I was focused on that and probably Did see the lights and stop sign but didn’t register either.

You know something? I wouldn't care what her impression of you is. You made a mistake, but so does everybody else. It's not her place to say anything about your mistake and I find it disrespectful and inappropriate in her doing so. Yes, it's important to stop but it was human error and you should feel relieved no children were crossing the road :). If I were you. I would contact the school because her behavior was not okay and I wouldn't be okay with a woman with her mouth driving my kids. Just emphasize you did make a huge mistake and learned a lesson

So it was like a blind drive..okay, I see..

Yeah, it's kind of hard to stop when you can't see the vehicle..

I'd be glad she cared so much about the safety of the
children in her care, and write it up as a lesson learned :)

Yes it would. Do it!

Keep in mind she deals with the masses a lot, many of whom you gotta yell at or they don't even hear you. After years of driving around idiots she has probably adopted yelling as the default to save time, not as a conscious choice but just the way she deals with reality these days. It is unfortunate, but that's the world we live in. *shrug*

This thread is still going? I remember the day Arwen started it. Literally. I was online the same time this thread was posted. Man, I wonder how many times I've posted in this thread alone. Or just the number of gifs I've posted.

Anyway, I'm back, baby!

How many people from around my time are still around?

I wonder if Arwen even knows that she created what has become a true cornerstone on this forum. (Hopefully she'll be back someday.)

Hope things are going well and that you'll stay awhile. It's great to see you. :)
