God owes righteous folks who do what God tells them health, wealth and worldly goods to spend on their adulterous pleasures

God does NOT promise this...he says that is why he doesn't answer prayers because folks want worldly wealth to spend on their lusts...he calls the, double minded adulterers

The problem is many Christians go in their own righteousness. In our human reasoning we think; "God will surely give us good things when we behave and are good." The fact is only Jesus is good and only Jesus behaved perfectly.

Where we get it twisted as Christians is we think Jesus saved us to make us better law keepers., better religious people who do the right things for God now that we are saved. But that is where we fail and miss the very blessings promised to us because we go in our own righteousness of works and not based on grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus.

Man's religion never changes. We think if we do good we deserved good. Yes., even us Christians who believe in Jesus and His salvation. Many of us believe we are saved by grace through faith... But we don't live our Christians lives the same way we were saved. And we must!

We must know that we walk by grace (undeserved love and favor from God) through faith in Christ finished work on our behalf. He is the One who goes before us and we follow and learn how to walk in the new spirit Jesus gave us when we were made new creations in Christ. Old things have passed away behold all things have become new.

When we try to be righteous through our flesh., and not in the spirit., our works are wood hay and stubble. When we walk in the Spirit our works are fine gold, silver and precious stones. The fruits of the Spirit are not called the fruits of the flesh. This is major to know.

Hi Stunned.... I understand how difficult it is to step out from our own interpretations and those of our teachers whom we love dearly and look at the book of Job in another way. It's not even possible for some. But I thank God that He gives us the Holy Spirit to teach us and lead us into all truth. He won't force us to go but He will lead us and go before us. It's our choice to follow or to stay put.
You do not say it directly, but are surely implying by your words that the Holy Spirit is leading you into a new interpretation of the book of Job. And that for some (of us?) it is not even possible - !! And it is our choice if we want to follow the Spirit or if we want to stay put (in our "own interpretations"). He won't force us, but if we let Him He would lead us (to your new interpretation of Job?).

I see!! - quite an interesting situation . . . . . .

You don't need much patience to answer a simple question. Yes or No will do fine. More, if you want to, but I'm waiting for that answer, and will keep asking until you answer.

(And after asking for 13 pages, and you supposedly answering, and yet never answered, there is no excuse not to answer it now.)

?? I already answered you Depleted. satan did not NEED God's permission to go after Job. satan already won when Adam and Eve sinned., they GAVE OVER the tending and care and dominion of earth to satan. And the world and it's occupants have been suffering for it ever since. satan is the one who kills...STEALS and destroys. he is called the "destroyer" the "liar" the "thief"

I explained how I see Adam and Eve did not trust God to be loving and kind and giving to them. They believed satan when he said ....

did God reeeallly say.....?.... God surely knows if you eat the fruit of the tree He told you not to eat... you will be like god's knowing good from evil.... God is keeping you guys back and if you were to eat the fruit anyway... you'll find God has held out on you.

So they believed the liar and found out God did nothing of the sort. satan is a liar. satan is the one who kills.... steals and destroys ...Not God. God is the giver of life and all good things.

I'll post again for you Depleted. We Christians need to wrap our new minds around how much LOVE God has for us and that HE didn't even with hold His only Son! But gave Him up for us all. Wow. Yet how many of us born again Christians STILL think God is out to get us? How much more does our Father need to do in order to get us to trust in His love and grace for us? We need to repent (change our minds and our thinking about God and what He is and what He does) Stop thinking of Him in our old manner of living the way we used to see God.

How much do we understand what His grace is all about? Grace will teach us how to live soberly righteously and Godly in this present age but if we don't know what His grace is., we can't learn. We don't deserve His love but that is what grace is about. Undeserved un merited un earned love and favor coming from the One who gives Agape love... His love comes from Himself and is generated from Him.. not based on the ones getting loved because we are lovely and good and deserving of it. He loves us regardless of our unworthiness., regardless that we are not lovely and not good and not deserving. He sees us not according to our flesh. Amen!

Grace is the gift that keeps on giving. Jesus secured the kind of love that 1 Cor. 13 records. And because He first loved us., we can love Him and others. We now have the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead us into all the truth. The truth for today as well as the other truths we will be learning as we walk the path He has set before us in the coming days ahead.

And Jehovah said to Satan, Behold, all that is his is in your hand! Only, do not lay your hand on him. And Satan went out from the face of Jehovah. (Job 1:12, LITV, and also Job 2:6)

The Lord is not giving Satan permission; he’s stating a fact.

Job was already under Satan’s thumb.

Why does the Lord say that? Because of this:

We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. (1 John 5:19)
The scriptures declare that God gave control of the earth to man…
The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind. (Psa 115:16)
…but in the Garden of Eden man handed control to Satan. So when the Lord says “all that is his is in your hand!” he is stating a painful fact that will ultimately cost Jesus his life.

[h=4]Lie #1: Satan needs God’s permission to attack us[/h]Satan didn’t ask for permission to go after Job because he didn’t need permission. In the Garden of Eden we opened the door to sin and have been reaping the consequences ever since.

The good news is it doesn’t have to be this way. By the grace of God the devil flees when we resist him (James 4:7). Don’t be like Job and let the thief plunder your house. Be like David who encouraged himself in the Lord and fought back (1 Sam 30:6).

Hi Chester., you're right., I don't say it because it's not new. It may be new to you and others here but that doesn't mean it's new. You just didn't hear it before. I'm not so full of myself anymore in my religious training that I believe I know all there is to know about the Bible.

I've since learned I have a loooong way to go. And that there are many talented and gifted pastors and teachers in the body of Christ that have much to offer us about the learning of the truth in the Bible. I don't know why God set it up this way. He gave us His Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. But He also gave the church pastors and teachers and evangelists. He has given us every opportunity to see truth is how I look at it now. It's my intention to be willing to learn.

I was always taught to see Job as a perfect kinda guy. I was taught to see God from the perspective of the One who gives and takes and punishes and scourges. But that is Job talking and others who have not rightly divided the Word and understood the goodness and love and grace of God in Christ.

If you read the rest of the posts they give an explanation of why I and other Christians believe this way. I've found out that In Christ we have been blessed with all we need to be complete and able to walk in the victory Jesus paid for us to have.

This is not new... It's all through the Bible for us to see if we allow the process of the renewing of our minds in "repentance" a change of mind from seeing God apart from Jesus to seeing God by looking AT Jesus. Jesus said if we want to see God., we look to Him. In Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Col.2:9 No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. John 1:18 And the Holy Spirit always points us to Jesus. Yes., it is quite an interesting situation. :)

But, we who believe that God promises these things, do ask. Not because we desire to be rich, but we desire to glorify God in His goodness to His children.

In a sense, we have returned to the garden of Eden. The curse is reversed for the body of Christ. All that Adam and Eve needed was supplied there in Paradise, and that is our heritage too. Part of our inheritance as children of God. Children of light.

Thats what I mean about benefits. We don't demand, command, but look to Father for our needs, knowing He will answer.

And He does.

Jesus purchased these benefits that David spoke of, for us.
You are still missing the point being made. There is a difference between NEEDS and Wants.

All we need is the ONE pearl. ALL ELSE is shifting sand.

JESUS does not prromise worldly riches or a life of leisure...he says "take up your cross and follow me" "you will have trials and may even be killed for my name's sake but those who endure to the end shall reign with me in Heaven."

God's promises of wealth are not for this Earth that is destined to fade but eternity. God"s promises of heal5h are not for these current bodies that will die and become ashes but our resurrected bodies.

Yet people will chose current riches of this world instead of affiliction, choose evil and rebellion against God instead of suffering for His name sake.

Satan didn't "win dominion of the Earth" any more than Al Capone was elected mayor of New York...,just because power struggle is displayed doesn't mean it's God sanctioned.

God did not give Satan power over the Earth. God gave it to Jesus and will put all His enemies under His
Feet

The Bible speaks of a spiritual war, yet people are too busy chasing worldly wealth and health to even care.

The Apostle Paul said in Romans 11:22, "Notice how God is both kind and severe..." He will cut you off!

America and the world must understand when you turn your back on Our Lord Jesus Christ, spiritually speaking, He will vex you with all adversity.

2 Chronicles 15 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

Asa’s Changes

15 The Spirit of God came on Azariah, who was Obed’s son. 2 Azariah went to meet Asa and said, “Listen to me, Asa and all you people of Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you look for him, you will find him. But if you leave him, he will leave you. 3 For a long time Israel was without the true God. And they were without a teaching priest, and without the law. 4 But when the Israelites had trouble, they turned again to the Lord, the God of Israel. They looked for him and found him. 5 In those times of trouble, no one could travel safely. There was great trouble in all the nations. 6 One nation would destroy another nation and one city would destroy another city. This was happening because God gave them all kinds of trouble. 7 But Asa, you and the people of Judah and Benjamin, be strong. Don’t be weak and don’t give up, because you will get a reward for your good work!” 2 Chronicles 15:1-7

Travel = Plane, train, vehicle, or walking.

Don’t be weak and don’t give up = Fight the good fight of faith...1 Timothy 6:12

#1 if God places His angels around us and tells Satan He isn't allowed to attack our fanily, finances, or health..,,there is no way Satan could win against God's power and might. Therefore Satan has to wait for us to walk past God's protection to attack us.

#2 God sends angels only to protect our souls and the Holy Spirit to lead us from our sins and save us from the Pit and death of the soul..,,,the rest is hay and stubble.

#3 our health is promises in the Resurrected bodies, not these temporal tents that will return to ashes they came from.

#4 our wealth is stored in Heaven and is not hold or silver of this world or money stamped with the faces of Caesar or dead presidents....it is when we show God's love to others. When we feed the poor. When we clothe the naked. When we visit orphans and widows. When we visit prisoners, when we glorify God even if we get beaten for it. When we proclaim that it's God's right to do whatever He wants with our lives because we deserve the worst but He has already blessed us with more than we could ever repay.

#5 if you ask in your hearts...would you chose to be like a movie star with wealth, health and beauty but have to renounce God by making him into a false idol that resembles a genie in the bottle that grants your every wish or be like Job scraping boils off your body with postcards after losing all your wealth and all your children but being proclaimed blameless.by God and suffering for the sake of His name....which would you chose?

What about the misconception that we can fully understand everything about God, and how much love He has for everyone in the world?

What about God leaving people in hell forever and ever?
What about God leaving people in the lake of fire forever?
What about God destorying those who never came to christ jesus in this life?

I think there are some misconceptions about what God is really like.

There are even people say God only saves the elect, and only He knows them?? Crazy. I believe in the election but only for those who were written in the bible, but never any of us today.

I no elected person at all, just been shared the truth of the Gospel of Christ Jesus, and a lot about the bible I never considered when I was first a christian.

Those aren't misconceptions MatthewG, they are just Biblical truths that you refuse to believe. By the way, it is only the lake of fire that the unsaved spend eternity in, Hades/Hell is a temporary place of torment until the great white throne judgment.

The reason that people who never come to Christ are punished in the lake of fire, is because they will have willfully rejected God's provision of salvation through the shed blood of His Son. Therefore, when they die without Christ, they remain in their sins and God's wrath rests on them. God is not going to force people into the kingdom. He says, "I stand at the door and knock. If anyone will open the door I will come in and have fellowship with him and he with me. But each person has to open the door.

Yeah I would agree with you about that one....the change was the Earth was cursed to produce thorns and goers when before food just grew without tool and weeds to choke the fruit.

Satan wasn't given dominion of the Earth, it still belongs to humanity...though our stewardship needs a lot of work.
in all the distractions of this discussion the Good Lord reminded me of something.

Our Lord was specific in saying something to satan, and so i will ask you and the readers here.
Did satan obey the Lord?

The
Lord said to satan,
“Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”

Or.... maybe they read what Mr. Ellis was saying and appreciated it because they ARE big on Biblical soundness....And maybe.... they don't see Job the same as many do here because maybe he isn't going by the doctrines of men?

Because God does not give just to take away and that when Job made that statement about God., it was Job's ideas about God and not the truth of what God is or does. Job said many wrong things about God in the beginning of his journey of learning about God. (just as many of us have) And Job had yet to learn the truth about the goodness and kindness and loveliness of God.

That's my opinion on P.Ellis. I like what he says and have read him out all the way through much of his posts so I know he is not a fly by night heretic by any means. Personally., I've never put much on awards but people get them for a reason and all the Christians who make up the Guild of Christian Writers seem to think Paul is worthy of a silver metal award... although people on this thread have no use for him or his writings.

LOL the guy can't catch a break no matter what he writes or how many awards he gets or how much investigation is done... he's found to be innocent of being a liar yet still he's a shyster according to many here. All I can do is shake my head and beThankful the brothers and sisters in the body of Christ are not limited to this thread. :)

Thank you Marc for taking the time to investigate the paper trail. And thank you for agreeing to disagree.
You just dont get it do you?

you are calling the Allmighty a liar.
setting up yourself as God in his place.

would you have walked by job and said curse God so you can die?

Yes Ariel, I can say now that she wasn't understanding your post. In her defense, she said she was tired! :)
Oh I figured it out by the scriptures she posted but it's alright. God will still use our struggles to speak and understand each other and His will for His glory. Even in our weakness He is our strength.

Of course, personally i am grateful for the immeasurable gift that is our Lords Grace and love for me a sinner.
To have felt such a love early on in my walk was a great relief to my soul as the Lord began the healing.
Healing to strengthen me in a walk closer with the Lord. And something ive learned over the past two yrs is that there is a separation between pain and anger. Pain in knowing that my Lord has done so much for me and i fell somewhat helpless in giving back.
Anger in knowing that i am grateful, yet i see so many around me who would sit like a king and pretend to relate with iyovs situation.
Having never been through any spiritual suffering of the sort.

you should have listened to your former teachers about iyov being blameless. The Lord said so, and for anyone to say otherwise has been led astray by the foul birds.

Lie #1: Satan needs God’s permission to attack us

Satan didn’t ask for permission to go after Job because he didn’t need permission.

Lots and lots of words, and yet again. NO, you did not answer my question. I could care less what you think of Satan's needs. I could care less about Satan's needs.

Do you believe/agree with Ellis when he said, "Satan didn’t ask for permission to go after Job because he didn’t need permission."

If you double-speak/politician-(lack-of)-answer again, it is assumed you agree with him. In which case, you are NOT interpreting scripture. You are intentionally misrepresenting it. Creating different scripture. You're out and out lying about it!!!

Satan has already been/is/will forever be punished for his sin. God is sovereign. Satan cannot not abide by God. If he could, he would have killed Job. God IS sovereign. That doesn't just mean he reigns. It means he "possesses supreme and ultimate power." There is no circumventing God. God is the power. He is Sovereign.

…but in the Garden of Eden man handed control to Satan. So when the Lord says “all that is his is in your hand!” he is stating a painful fact that will ultimately cost Jesus his life.

Jesus will come back and take charge of the world but He has not come back a 2nd time yet. So us believers are here along with the Holy Spirit to share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and dying world. Jesus has given us all things we need to do this job while we are in the world.

He has also left us promises to live by so we can walk in the victory He already won for us. We are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us and gave Himself for us. And He takes super care of His sheep. Read Psalm 23. He takes better care of us than we could ever manage.

In our own weak flesh us sheep are not going to be victorious. But with Him., with the power and love and sound mind we have been given., we can have the victory every time because it's been given to us. We hold the ground Christ has already gotten for us. We need to claim it by grace through faith.

But until Jesus comes back and takes over ., we are in a spiritual battle and we walk it out by faith. We have been given the ministry of reconciliation so while we are here we give out the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit. We don't fight against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in the spiritual realm. We can't win this battle in our flesh., we must walk in the Spirit.

It's a mind thing with Satan. That is what he has control over. His wicked influences is what causes mankind to walk in darkness. Spiritual warfare indeed.
