I am going to tell you why the word 'charity' was changed to 'love' in most of the modern translations of the bible. It is because the word 'charity' has a 'good works' taint.
You seem to think that there is a big conspiracy here, but that is not so.
The English word "charity" has changed in meaning over several hundred years, in the same way that many other English words have.
Have you used or seen the use of the word "gay" recently in its meaning from a hundred years ago i.e. happy and carefree?

Several centuries ago the primary meaning of "charity" was actually love.
However the current meaning of "charity" is usually just to give money to a good cause. It is supposed to be on the basis of love but, literally, that aspect is largely lost in the modern language. Bluntly put, most charitable donations nowadays are done to get a tax break!

The primary meaning of "charity" three or four hundred years was indeed love. Yes, it may have had a practical outworking in the same way that the love that God had for us had a practical outworking in Jesus suffering and sacrifice on the cross. Love is never just an airy fairy sentiment, it should always have a practical outworking.

Nevertheless, with the current state of English, "charity" is a poor word to convey the meaning of the Greek word, [FONT=&quot]ἀγάπη ([/FONT]agápē[FONT=&quot])[/FONT], which was originally translated "charity", means love, and unconditional love at that.
So it is absolutely and entirely appropriate for modern translations to elect to use "love" instead of "charity" in current translations.

No!!! It is you that doesn't understand the fact that true faith means the love must be there as part of it. Your verse 18 basically says that. Faith producing works only happens with love. The truth is faith and the action is the resulting works.

The difference between these two people was the tax collect recognized he needed Gods
mercy while the Pharisee thought he was ok.

Now free gracers follow a strange double path. They recognize they need Christ on the
cross to gain forgiveness of sins, at a distance, but not that they then need to walk in Jesus's
ways with a clean heart. They believe even though they choose to sin, it is already forgiven,
so do not need to feel sorrow, seek repentance, confession or re-establishing their walk with the
Lord. They will say they are sinners, unworthy, but refuse to do anything about it.

Those in the Kingdom are always in need of God, and have everything by the grace of God.
They are nothing in themselves but everything in Christs love flowing through them. Their pure
and holy walk is a blessing, a light in a dark world. A man is all that Christs makes Him, and all
that is built is only on who Christ is.

Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
1 Timothy 4:16

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk.
They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
1 Timothy 1:5-7

Now if peoples foundation is an impure heart, a bad conscience and an insincere faith,
it is impossible to take what they share to have any authority at all.

Go through this thread and find who is sharing about obtaining a pure heart from Christ
purified and made whole, and then how to walk in Jesus's ways. If you read scripture
with purity in your heart you will see Pauls encouragements. If you are impure you will find
it hard and miss all the phrases that show what you need to be.

The bible is a book of words, its power is when it dwells in peoples hearts and mind.

Just take one phrase, "you will save both yourself and your hearers."

Paul is saying only through persevering in the faith, keeping right doctrine will we be
saved. But ignore the word persever, and you will miss it all.

Just say teach correctly once, believe once, and you are sealed. So believing this
you will just not see the word, and go on as if one has certainty, which Paul is not
giving, at all.

Paul describes himself as pure, holy, blameless, walking after the example of Jesus.
He was righteous by Jesus, forgiven and purified, and would not describe himself
as a sinner but a saint, an apostle, an example of how to live.

But he did not take pride in this, only pointing to Jesus and His righteousness and purity
and following after. He did not exalt himself above sinners, but rather exalted Christ and
the cross and the forgiveness he had obtained through this, and the walk that resulted.

In a theology that condemns Paul as a pharisee and the Lords teaching through him on
purity and holiness, this is not christian or of the Lord. It desires to put certainty on
spiritual attainment while denying its reality in the life of the believer only the appearance
of reality through faith.

So those accusers could be total non-believers, wrapped up in sin and lost, but the words
of their authority would remain the same, we are the chosen and you are teaching evil heresy
doomed to hell.

Do you see the total hypocrisy and meaninglessness of such a position. It is a farce, but it will
not stop them heaping slander, insults, lies, and feeling justified at rejecting brothers and sisters
who simply follow scripture and God in His teaching, with a good heart in purity and faith.
The more these brothers and sisters shine in Gods grace the more angry and full of bitterness
they will become, because in their mind this is actually impossible, and these people are driven
only by self and self belief, even though clearly it is Christ and His work in their hearts that is
there.

I suggest you put Paul's thoughts on himself into your concept of him.

Romans 7 NIV

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit

Jesus said of those who were blind and empty, if they called that which is of God,
which should bring about repentance, sorrow, humbleness and truth and a pure heart,
is rejected as something from satan, they have lost any hope of gaining real spiritual
insight or new birth.

Look around. So many people claim a great deal, stand and call their group saved
and the rest of the world doomed to hell, failed in innumerable ways.

Jesus says simply listen to His words and put them into practice. It is not a group
but entering into the Kingdom of heaven. Everything else flows from this.

So simply those who close the door on obedience by not putting Jesus's words into
practice do not know Him. The more they close the door they will get to the point
where they call that which is their last hope of satan and be lost forever.

Some seem to go this far, and I fear there is no hope for them, as fear and humblness
have left their hearts and they know with certainty they are saved. It is ironic that
this certainty may be the doom upon which their end is sealed. But only the chosen
will see the truth, because only they are eternal and will not see death, the 2nd death.

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Matt 7:24

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Matt 5:8

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
Philippians 4:8

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

I'm not accusing anyone. simply saying that no one is or could ever be sinless and righteous enough on our own to get to Heavenis a universal fact. that is why we need Christ and his imputed righteousness ( the neat little trick ).

do not confuse justification with sanctification. one is given in a moment. one is a ongoing process.

in present and future sins forgiven as a result of the cross, but rather
ones past sins forgiven and then walking in holiness and purity with Jesus.

If this was not the case he would have not said someone would forget their
past sins have been forgiven, but also their future ones.

But then wanting security for some is bigger than listening to Jesus and learning
about what true love actually is.

You are lying again. You specifically accused me of not being like Paul, pointing to Jesus
when this is what I do all the time.

Again I say Jesus is the one through whom we gain eternal life and redemption.
So how am I saying I can be sinless and righteous enough to be saved.

We are called, cleansed and made whole, pure, righteous, holy.
You do not believe we are cleansed at all, just fake cleansed.
Fake cleansing is a fake faith, with fake results and hypocritical lives.

Your unbelief is your undoing and will steal the gospel from working in your
heart. So many people know the words, but their hearts are so hard, it
just bounces off, without taking root.

Gods word shows where we are so we can actually do something about it.
Repentance is active, it shows itself in changed actions and recognising what
it means to care, to feel, to empathize, to reach out and see God make people
whole.

Also, in regards to "fall." Proverbs 24:16 - For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

Again here you are not answering the point I am making.
You want to say I do not give glory to Christ, when that is what I am doing.
Christ is all in all.

It is like a lie you cannot let go. It is as if when God does anything good in our
lives, it detracts from Jesus, it adds to the gospel so is heresy.

But the outworking of this is Gods work in making people whole is then evil,
and talking about it is evil, and being like God is evil.

In truth, what does Jesus say about us being changed and shinning like a light

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Matt 5:16

So our shinning is the testimony to Gods power in our lives, this is the very work
of God in the world, to be people of the King.

So your very intention is to stand against Gods work and His words.

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10

God created us to do these good works for His glory, not our own.

But this truth is too big so you have to just slander and lie about it.

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

We give thanks and love to Jesus who gives us the way to remove the penalty of sin. It humbles me to understand that God knowing the end from the begining made creation knowing what he would do on the cross. That demonstrates His love for us.
Romans 7:14-25
Paul is describing intellectual assent to the gospel while ones heart is dominated with
trying to obey the law but failing because it needs the cleansing and purification of the
Holy Spirit. As a pharisee Paul wanted to obey the law, but his heart stopped him.
Paul goes on to describe later in romans, that when the Spirit comes within his heart,
and enables him to walk in love, he is able to not sin and walk in fulfillment of the law.
So I am not ignoring your point, I am speaking from a different framework.

Paul describes himself as pure, blameless and holy, which does not match this struggle
he had in the past. Part of growing in Christ is working through how we aspire to walk
like God, yet fail, and how we need to be transformed and grow in love and emotional
reality to reach that place we so desire.

This is a new idea. If I love someone, and then respond in love this is of no value.
But if Gods love motivates me to love, then that has value.

I did not know there were two totally different types of love.

This has to be the biggest load of junk ever. God is love, and all love is a reflection
of the love He put within creation, which is part of the whole creative act.

The problem with the world, is it does not recognize all love has its source in God
and His grace to everything.

It is why without communion with God, love dies within us, and gets overwhelmed
by bitterness, hatred, envy, jealousy, greed, selfishness.

Jesus describes this reality as we as members of the Kingdom of God are plugged
into the vine, as a branch with His love flowing through us. We think it is our love,
but that is because we are part of the vine. Break off from the vine, and our love
dies along with us.

For some strange reason, love in the world has to be turned evil, and only God,
has love, in some distant way, and we are impure and polluted incapable of showing
His love to anyone properly. Except as purified, cleansed redeemed children of God,
through the cross we truly know what Gods love is, and it is very much alive in everything
we do, because we are plugged into the creator. All our love has its source in Him, there
is no such thing as love from self, this is just a lie of the enemy, to condemn people, rather
than declare the great work He has done in us. Amen.

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command.
