I'm sorry, I posted something kind of tangential without any address towards your original question. Guilty!
As for me, I find it difficult to believe that from this directive to the 11 that it follows every believer must be an evangelistic missionary. I have heard many people take this approach to the verse and try to compel everyone in the church to to knocking on doors and travelling to Cuba and whatnot - but i think i see a conflict with the description of us as a body, each with our own callings and functions and given talents.
This isn't to say that we should not all, I'm some capacity, participate in the great work of discipleship and proclamation of the good news, and i certainly don't mean 'participate by giving us money' as certain 'visiting evangelists' are wont to do, neither do i mean to discourage material support of our brothers qnd sisters, as we may be purposed in our hearts to give. I mean that we all move within our own circles in our own positions, and elsewhere it is written, to the effect, stay in that in which you were called. So we may very well disciple others and evangelize in ways that don't superficially resemble what the first carriers of this gospel were themselves compelled to do, in keeping with the spirit of what was commanded specifically to specific persons.
