Thank you for response. Well I am an OSAS believer myself. I know there are denominations that believe differently. Very sad isn't it?

Talk about a millstone.

The most famous of the pseudo-christian cults are Jehovah Witnesses, and Mormons. There are several other cults in the psuedo-christian cults, and I can recommend KINGDOM OF THE CULTS, by Walter Martin.

https://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Cult...eywords=kingdom+of+the+cults+by+walter+martin

They all have what I call the BAIT and SWITCH tactics when them come Proselytising. They will tell you what you think is Good Sound Doctrine, THEN after they get you hooked, they will tell you, "That really isn't what it means." And proceed to lead you astray into FALSE DOCTRINE. They are FAMOUS for using Christian terminology, but IT MEANS SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO THEM, than what we mean by the same Term or Phrase means to us. Baby Christians are especially vulnerable to those kind of lies that lead people astray, because they sound Christian, and the Baby Christians do not know there Bible well enough, yet, to determine Truth from Error.
Gonna get it and have a read.

To do what, proselytize?

If you do not have a regular Church that you Worship and fellowship with, how are you Obedient to the "ONE ANOTHER'S" in the New Testament?

Romans 12:4-5 (HCSB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function,
[SUP]5 [/SUP]in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.

Romans 12:10 (HCSB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] Show family affection to one another with brotherly love. Outdo one another in showing honor.

Romans 12:16 (HCSB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Be in agreement with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

Romans 13:8 (HCSB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] Do not owe anyone anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Romans 14:13 (HCSB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Therefore, let us no longer criticize one another. Instead decide never to put a stumbling block or pitfall in your brother’s way.

Romans 14:19 (HCSB)

[SUP]19 [/SUP]So then, we must pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another.

Romans 15:5-6 (HCSB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement allow you ⌊to live⌋ in harmony with one another, according to ⌊the command of⌋ Christ Jesus,
[SUP]6 [/SUP] so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with a united mind and voice.

Romans 15:7 (HCSB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Therefore accept one another, just as the Messiah also accepted you, to the glory of God.

Romans 16:16 (HCSB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Greet one another with a holy kiss {What ever is the Custom that is reserved for like-minded believers}. All the churches of Christ send you greetings.

NOW that is just ONE BOOK OF THE NEW TESTAMENT. Many other examples of "ONE ANOTHER" are in the rest of the New Testament.

So now, please tell me, how is that POSSIBLE without being connected to a LIKE-MINDED body of local Believers? ? ?
Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth.

For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.

[FONT=&quot][FONT=&quot]So listen now to what Adonai says:
“Stand up and state your case to the mountains,
let the hills hear what you have to say.”
2 Listen, mountains, to Adonai’s case;
also you enduring rocks that support the earth!
Adonai has a case against his people;
he wants to argue it out with Isra’el:
3 “My people, what have I done to you?
How have I wearied you? Answer me!
4 I brought you up from the land of Egypt.
I redeemed you from a life of slavery.
I sent Moshe, Aharon
and Miryam to lead you.
5 My people, just remember what Balak
the king of Mo’av had planned,
what Bil‘am the son of B‘or answered him,
[and what happened] between Sheetim and Gilgal —
so that you will understand
the saving deeds of Adonai.”
6 “With what can I come before Adonai
to bow down before God on high?
Should I come before him with burnt offerings?
with calves in their first year?
7 Would Adonai take delight in thousands of rams
with ten thousand rivers of olive oil?
Could I give my firstborn to pay for my crimes,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
[/FONT]
[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot][FONT=&quot]8 Human being, you have already been told
what is good, what Adonai demands of you —
no more than to act justly, love grace
and walk humbly
(purity) with your God.
[/FONT]
[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot][FONT=&quot]9 The voice of Adonai! He calls to the city —
and it is wisdom to fear your name —
“Listen to the rod and to him who commissioned it.
10 Are there still ill-gotten gains in the house of the wicked?
still the detestable short eifah-measure?
11 Should I declare innocent wicked scales
and a bag of fraudulent weights?
12 The rich men there are full of violence,
the inhabitants tell lies,
with tongues of deceit in their mouths.
[/FONT]
[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot][FONT=&quot]13 “Therefore, I am starting to strike you down,
to destroy you because of your sins.
14 You will eat but not be satisfied,
with hunger gnawing inside you.
You will conceive but not give birth;
if you do give birth, I will give him to the sword.
15 You will sow but will not reap,
you will press olives but not rub yourself with oil,
likewise you will press grapes but not drink the wine.
16 For you keep the regulations of ‘Omri
and all the practices of the house of Ach’av,
modeling yourselves on their advice.
Therefore I will make you an object of horror,
the inhabitants of this city a cause for contempt;
you will suffer the insults aimed at my people.”

How are you qualified for Heaven?
Do you think that I am not a believer?
Do you think that I have not had the baptism of the HS?
Do you think that I do not have faith in Jesus?
Do you think that I do not trust Jesus?
Do you think that I do not love Jesus?
Do you think that I do not believe in the grace of Jesus?

So according to your doctrine, I am saved and qualify for heaven, just like you.

If I want to add to that saving doctrine, good works to help build the KOG here on earth and to help God's children (my neighbor) as he has asked us to do. And I want to be water baptized, and obey his commandments, tell me how these good works will detatch me from Jesus and his promises to me?

Sanctification and Salvation are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. If you do not know the difference, it will lead you into some serious Errors in Doctrine.
The question is, how does sanctification and salvation work? You say they are 2 different things, but why sanctification or justification if one is automatically saved in the KOG the second they believe in Jesus. There does not seem to be a reason for sanctification and justification?

And which one comes first, sanctification or Justification?

Amen VCO, I read Walter Martins' book nearly 40yrs ago and it has been helpful throughout my Christian life. This was highly recommended reading when I was a young Christian and It should be today. There are Cristian Cultist today who would attempt to lead us astray even on Christian forums, be careful.
You accuse me, a good Christian man, of trying to lead you astray? You must believe that 70% of all Christian churches are cults too. 30% believe like you, they are not cults, but 70% don't believe 100% of what you believe and they must be cults for trying to lead you astray. Good luck, you are surrounded.

As for my church and for myself:

(1) I am not a part of an OSAS church - I do not believe that my current salvation is based on a past time transaction when at a point in time I believed and became saved. Often these groups wrestle with the question: Was I really saved back then? And if your works do not match up, then people will accuse you of never being saved to begin with.

(2) I am not a part of a church that believes if I did without having asked forgiveness for a sin then I am not saved. As you say, these groups may live in fear of dying rather than in the joy of the Lord

but (3) I am a part of a group that believes we are saved by grace though faith and that we stay saved by grace through faith. The way I know I am saved today is because today I am believing in Jesus Christ. My sins are ongoingly moment by moment cleansed by the blood of Christ - He paid the price for my sin - Hallelujah, praise His name!

Your view belies ignorance of Greek verb tense, the very words used, the promises and power of Christ and context......
Again, in stead of an answering a simple question, you go to the Greek.

Did God not give us the power to translate from Greek to English the right words?

Your estimation on OSAS is right on target. Why live in fear? "Fear not" says the Lord. Hard to have joy in your heart when there is fear in your mind.

And which one comes first, sanctification or Justification?
Evening benhur (btw, benhur is one of my favourite films)

Maybe the following may help

1 Corinthians 6:11
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

6:11 In this verse, Paul uses three terms to describe the conversion of the Corinthians. The tense of all three verbs indicates an action in the past that is complete. Washed means spiritually cleansed by God. Sanctified means set apart as God’s people. Justified means declared righteous by God because of Christ’s work on the Cross. (NKJV study notes)

To me we have been sanctified and justified when we placed genuine faith in Jesus. Not just lip service.

I then we sanctification as the process of growing in Jesus and becoming more like him.

Romans 8:29-30
29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Being justified means being “declared righteous.” Finally, God glorified. Though glorification is in the future, it is stated here in the past tense. Everyone then, who was foreknown by God in eternity past has such a certain future that the apostle speaks of their glorification as already accomplished. (NJKV study notes).

Think about it.

Can you justify or sanctify yourself before God?
Can you be justified and sanctified by your works?

If so then there was no need for Jesus to die.

So sanctification is as a result of being sanctified.
So that is the be set apart to do good works and be obedient.

You said in a previous post

"We do our best to do what God has asked of us, and we rely on his mercy and grace to make up any shortfall that may occur in our walk with him"

How does he do this?

Yet in another post you say justification is second to sanctification.
You say "If you are justified, you are holy, what if you do unholy things. A lot of unholy things, can you lose your justification?
You indicated that you can.

To be honest as we say over here "That's arse about face" (not being rude or going at you)

So in fact God cannot make up the shortfall. You have to do it

Justification is not being Holy or being righteous.
Its a legal status in Jesus.

----------------------

Justified

[FONT=&quot]We are justified, declared righteous, at the moment of our salvation. Justification does not make us righteous, but rather pronounces us righteous. Our righteousness comes from placing our faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. His sacrifice covers our sin, allowing God to see us as perfect and unblemished. Because as believers we are in Christ, God sees Christ's own righteousness when He looks at us. This meets God's demands for perfection; thus, He declares us righteous—He justifies us. (GOTW)

BIBLE-->Therefore we conclude a man is justified by faith without works..... <-Paul who was inspired.....you not so much!

Romans-->Before God justified by faith WITHOUT WORKS

James-->The above seen by men based upon works which do not save or keep saved

Learn context then engage me...until then your words carry no weight or truth!
You can keep this game up for ever, but it does not prove anything. Just your 1 thought from the bible and your interpretation of your bible. Your Greek and your context and your definition of salvation, and your definition of everything else, which does not agree with 65% of the Christian world. [FONT=&quot] [/FONT]

Just curious,
Has anyone here in this forum ever heard dcon openly give a confession of Faith?

Oral or written?

Just a thought.
Because I honestly believe it would greatly help everyone here understand where exactly he stands with the Lord!

<><.t.><>

That is why I worded my question as: Church or Church-type.

I attend Indian Hills Community Church, which only a few, who have heard me mention it OR who have ever driven past it, have ever heard of it.

So I use the type of Church when explaining to you all, that it is a Non-Denominational Conservative Evangelical type of Church.

Now from what I know, I think that dcon lives WAY OUT in the Country, and their may be a Catholic or Lutheran Church near him, but not a Like-Minded Church.

My guess the Church that dcon would like would have a Doctrinal Statement of Faith that I Gravitate to. We moved a lot in our younger years, so we sought out Churches, that would have the Conservative Evangelical style of Doctrinal Statement. Yes, that is in several denominations, because we moved to several small towns. I apologize, because this will get to a length, that I usually do not like, or is not called for. (dcon, if you read this, tell my what you think of this Statement of faith.) I chose a Church that is way out of my area, because I wanted you to see that such Statements of Faith, are common, among several denominations.

Here is the Doctrinal Statements or something similar that I look for:

[FONT=&quot]This doctrinal statement reflects the broad, mainstream, conservative evangelical tradition which is consistent with the teachings of the Bible and which has stood the test of history and experience. We specifically affirm the following doctrinal truths:[/FONT]
  1. The Scriptures
We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write the very words of Scripture. The Bible is therefore without error (inerrant) in its original manuscripts. God has supernaturally preserved the Bible, and it is the sole and final authority for faith and life, providing encouragement, guidance, comfort and instruction for training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).
  2. The Godhead (Trinity)
We believe in one true God eternally existing in three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) each of Whom is fully and equally God; possesses all of the divine nature and attributes, and is totally worthy of our worship and service (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 1:14, John 10:30; 2 Cor. 13:14).
  3. God the Father
We believe that God the Father is the first person of the Trinity and is the eternal, unchanging all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, all-loving, completely just and perfectly holy, sovereign Ruler and Sustainer of the universe. He is the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Father of all true believers (Gen. 1:1; Eph. 4:6; John 1:12-13, John 5:19-21, John 17:1-5; Isa. 40:21-28, Isa. 43:10-13, Isa. 46:8-11; Rom. 8:14-16).
  4. God the Son
We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity and is the only begotten eternal Son of God Who became flesh to reveal God to man, to fulfill prophecy, and to become the Savior of the lost world. In becoming man Jesus did not cease in any way to be God so that He is fully God and fully man inseparably united in one person forever. Jesus was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary; lived a sinless life; died on the cross as the substitutionary, all-sufficient atoning sacrifice for all of the sins of all men of all time; was buried; bodily rose from the dead; physically ascended into heaven in His glorified, resurrected body; is seated at the right hand of the Father performing His ministry of intercession; will return in the air to claim His bride the church; and will come again to earth in bodily form, personally and visibly, to conclude human history and consummate God’s eternal plan by executing judgment and ushering in His Millennial Kingdom reign to be followed by the eternal state (John 1:1,14,18; John 3:16; Luke 1:30-35; Phil. 2:5-8; Col. 2:3,9; Mark 10:45; Acts 2:22-24; John 1:29; Rom. 3:25-26; Heb. 10:5-14; 1 Pet. 2:24, 1 Pet. 3:18; John 20:20; Phil. 3:20-21; Heb. 1:3; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:1; Acts 1:11; Heb. 9:28; 1 Thes. 4:13-18; 2 Thes. 2:7; Matt. 24:44; Rev. 19:11-21; Rev. 21-22).
  5. God the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity Who specially came into the world on the day of Pentecost to glorify Christ and to enable men to appropriate the salvation wrought by Christ. He is the primary agent for the conviction of sin and for regeneration. Simultaneously with salvation, the Holy Spirit imparts new life, baptizes the believer into the body of Christ (His church), permanently indwells the believer, and securely seals the believer unto the day of redemption. The Holy Spirit fills (directs and controls) those believers who are yielded to Him, enables believers to bear fruit, and empowers believers to live a life free from sin’s dominion. We also believe that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers for the purpose of edifying the church in accordance with the teachings of scripture (1 Cor. 13:8, 1 Cor. 14:22; John 16:7-8; 1 Cor. 6:19, 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:13-14, Eph. 4:30; Gal. 5:16-17, Gal. 22-23; Rom. 8:5-13; 1 Pet. 4:10-11; Rom. 12:3-8).
  6. Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God by direct act of God and did not come into being as the result of evolution. Man was created to glorify God, worship and serve Him, and have fellowship with Him. Man fell through sin by disobeying God, thus incurring both physical and spiritual death, which alienated him from God. Man’s nature was thus corrupted and he is utterly lost, “dead in trespasses and sins,” and totally incapable of saving himself and coming back into right relationship with God by his own merit or effort (Gen. 1:26, Gen. 2:6,17, Gen. 3:17-24; Isa. 59:1-2; Rom. 3:9-19,23, Rom. 5:8; Luke 18:26-27; Eph. 2:13).
  7. Satan
We believe that Satan is the instigator of evil and a real spirit being, not simply the personification of evil. He is a fallen angel who, under the sovereign permission of God, has been given temporary rulership of the earth. He was utterly defeated at the cross, but the execution of his judgment has been postponed by God until after the Millennial Kingdom when he will be cast into the eternal lake of fire. In the meantime, he deceives the world and seeks to establish his counterfeit kingdom on earth to discredit and blaspheme God and to tempt, accuse, attack and destroy believers. He can be resisted by the believer through faith and reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit (Gen. 3:1-5; Isa. 14:12-17; Ezek. 28:11-19; Job 1-2; 1 John 5:19; 2 Cor. 11:14; 1 Tim. 3:6; 1 Pet. 5:8-9; James 4:7; Rev. 12:9, Rev. 20:1-3, Rev. 7-10).
  8. Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for forgiveness of sins and salvation, which is the free gift of God’s grace. Salvation is effected by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit and cannot be secured by man’s works or personal merit. Salvation is only appropriated by a person placing his faith in the finished work of Christ. Repentance is a turning toward God and away from sin and is a part of but not separate from believing faith. “The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” and those who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born again, have their sins forgiven, become children of God, are a new creation in Christ, and “are sealed by the Holy spirit unto the day of redemption” being kept by the power of God (Eph. 1:7:13-14; John 1:12-13, John 3:1-7, John 14-16; 2 Cor. 5:17; Rom. 1:16, Rom. 10:9-10; Eph. 2:8-10; Rom. 8:14-17, Rom. 31-39; John 10:27-29, Rom. 14:6; Acts 26:20; 1 Pet. 1:3-5).
  9. The Christian Life
We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself and should, by the power of the indwelling Spirit, allow Christ to manifest His life through him to God’s glory. By ever increasing obedience to the Word of God, each believer should mature and progressively become more like Jesus. In the power of the Spirit, each believer should live a holy life; not fulfill the lusts of the flesh; exercise his spiritual gifts to build up the body of Christ; witness for Christ; be personally involved in making disciples to fulfill the great commission; perform good works and bear fruit to the glory of God (Gal. 2:20; 1 Pet. 1:15-16, 1 Pet. 2:11; 2 Cor. 5:14-15; Rom. 6:11-13; Eph. 2:10, Eph. 4:11-12, Eph. 4:22-24; 1 Pet. 4:10-11; Acts 1:8; Matt. 28:18-20; Col. 1:10; John 15:8, 16).
  10. The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ of which Jesus is the Head and whose members are those who have truly received Christ by faith. The local church is a tangible expression of the body of Christ in a particular location. Since all members of the body of Christ are united in Christ by the same Spirit, they should live in love, harmony and unity, being intent on the same purpose and accepting those sectarian or denominational practices which are based on a sincere interpretation of the Bible, which do not relate to substantive doctrinal matters, and which do not in practice cause disunity or hinder the ministry. The purpose of the church is to make Christ known to lost men and to make disciples, and glorify God on earth (Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 12:12-27; Eph. 1:20-23, Eph. 4:1-6, Eph. 4:12-16; Matt. 28:18-20; John 17; Col. 1:24-29).

The Statement, I READ THROUGH IT, thoroughly. NOTICE: The separation between Statement 8. and Statement 9. That is where some of our members get confused. The try to include 9. with 8. SALVATION, thus they are in BIBLICAL ERRORS that in an effect, they create a FALSE GOSPEL. 8. is what GOD does for us, even though we do not deserve it. 9. Is how we are to LOVE HIM BACK. I WOULD GO TO THAT CHURCH. The only error that I could find is the WORD CHURCH, in Statement 4. That is almost exclusively the WORD that is used, in all denominations. However JESUS NEVER USED THE WORD CHURCH, when HE said: "I will build my assembly". The word in the Greek is ASSEMBLY, { look it up }, was am convinced that HE used it, because I believe HE intended to both of the TRUE BELIEVERS in both the ASSEMBLY of Old Testament Saints, and the ASSEMBLY of New Testament Saints, will be the TWO FOLDS that will be ONE FLOCK, under ONE SHEPHERD, at the RAPTURE.

SDA is consider a cult, right?
Not really, but they are borderline.
Hi VCO and Ariel, you are correct they are borderline Christian. While searching for SDA "Statement of Faith" I found this quote which was a bit unsettling to me and maybe others will agree.

From Statement of Faith, SDA

. "As Jesus, our example, showed us, 'perfect commandment keeping is possible."
(this is a false statement).

Joy in the Lord: Nehemiah 8:10:
10) "For the joy of the Lord is your strength", Quote: This beautiful sentence is, literally, delight in Jehovah is a strong refuge. It is capable of unlimited application in preaching and devotion.

I don't know maybe I should do some research....the more I learn about the world.,.the more I find out that I really don't know even a grain of sand in the vast ocean of knowledge out there.

Yet what I do know is that Jesus said all we need is a mustard seed size faith....I know I have that and His love...so I guess I will be alright. Jesus is our calm among the stormy seas of life.
I dont think Jesus said that all we need is a mustard seed size faith. This is what he said:
[h=1]Luke 17:6 King James Version (KJV)[/h][h=1]6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
[/h][FONT=&quot]So Jesus' thought was that if you had the faith of a mustard seed (not the size of a mustard seed) then you could pluck up a large tree and do other marvelous works.

Jesus uses the mustard seed as a parable to how faith works. The mustard seed is the smallest of seeds that are sewn, but because of its tremendous faith, the product that is produced is a very large tree.

So you want to have the faith of a mustard seed. And as the seed grows, so does your faith.

Sanctification is dual in use.....

a. Sanctified positionally and eternally in Christ at moment of belief

b. Daily sanctification is a daily process in our physical life based upon growth and maturity <-described in Romans 12 as being transformed
If we are sanctified positionally and eternally in Christ at moment of belief, why the daily sanctification?
