You just did.

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."
That's not something I said. You're reading into what I said.

Also, 1 John 3:4 does not say sin is transgression of the law (meaning the law of Moses). That's another example of men reading what they want to see into the text. That verse says that sin is lawlessness. Lawlessness is not obeying the living voice of GOD.

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

If the Law is gone NOTHING is a sin.

Romans 4:15, "Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression."

1 John 1:8-10, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us."

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

1 John 2:1-2, "My little children, I write these things to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father: Yahshua Messiah, the Righteous; and He is the sacrifice of atonement for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

Mat 5:18, "I say to you; Unless heaven and earth passes away, one yodh; the smallest of the letters will in no way pass from the Law, until all things are perfected."

Revelation 21:1, "I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away."
1st John 3 v. 4 in the greek- everyone practicing sin also lewlessness practices and sin is lawlessness. that is how that is straight -line interpreted from the greek.

the greek word for law, used 196 times in the N. T., is not used here.

another attempt at deception. another Hebrew roots fail.

This is very difficult to me. I'm struggling to understand it. :)

I've tried to think of some sort of parable to explain it but the closest I came was to say: the company has replaced key cards with retinal scans. The key cards can be thrown away as they are now obsolete and will not work. This doesn't mean you can't get to your desk - you can. You will just have to enter in a new way, with retinal scan.

Doesn't quite cut it or help me to grasp it though...

This is the way I see it.

You would not use a key card to open a door which does not have a reader. A key card has a purpose. and it must be used to fulfill its purpose. It can not be taken out of context to open a door it was not made or created for.

the law was not made to make us righteous people. or make us people who are morally good. that was not its intended purpose. trying to use the law to be morally good, or upright people is like using a key card to open a door that has no key card reader.

The law was made to lead us to Christ, that's it, period. There is only one door to heaven, and only one key card which can lead us to that door. and that is what we all are trying to get into (the kingdom of God) once we use the key card to find the correct door to enter, and we have opened it (via the cross) we do not need the key card anymore, because we have arrived. (ps. the key card did not get us in, it just lead us to the right door. the cross is what Got us in. Apart from the cross. the key card would not work. no matter what door you tried to open.)

THE LAW CAN NOT SHOW US EVERY POSSIBLE SIN WE CAN COMMIT. IT WAS NOT MADE FOR THAT PURPOSE.

The law proves our guilt. and leads us to christ.

You want to know how to be morally upright by your actions. Live the law of love (love christ and love neighbors)

for those trying to push law. They are deceived themselves. They can not help you or anyone else. because they are tryign to put a square box into a round hole. it will not fit.

How about this? Written laws only exert authority over persons while they are alive. There is no written law that can tell a dead person what to do. Therefore, in those cases it is useless. We are dead to this world in the eyes of GOD (Romans 7:4), who sees us alive in his son in heaven and commands us (law) to remain in him, so that the wrath of GOD will pass over us.

Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip [it] in the blood that [is] in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that [is] in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite [you]. Exodus 12:21-23

Keep in mind that the 10 commandments are not the righteousness of GOD. They are merely a standard of GOD's righteousness that can be discarded once righteousness is actualized, as it is in the life of every person obedient to the faith.

the Levites enter the Holy place therough the veil.

back when this was written they were still doing it, even thought it was split in 2.

Hebrews 10:19, "So, brothers, having boldness to enter into the Set-apart Place by the blood of יהושע,"

10:20, "by a new and living way which He instituted for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,"

10:21, "and having a High Priest over the House of YHWH."

Hebrews 9:11-12, "But the Messiah came near as a High Priest over the righteous things to come, with the great and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation; Nor through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once, for all, having obtained eternal redemption."

Hebrews 7:23-28, “For they indeed became priests without an oath, but He became Priest with an oath by Him who said to Him, “יהוה has sworn and shall not regret, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Malkitseḏeq. By as much as this יהושע has become a guarantor of a better covenant. And indeed, those that became priests were many, because they were prevented by death from continuing, but He, because He remains forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save completely those who draw near to Yah through Him, ever living to make intercession for them. For it was fitting that we should have such a High Priest – kind, innocent, undefiled, having been separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens, who does not need, as those high priests, to offer up slaughter offerings day by day, first for His own sins and then for those of the people, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. For the Torah appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the Torah, appoints the Son having been perfected forever.”

you think the veil is the Law? or the way to enter the Holy Place?

The vail is what is over your mind when Moses is read.

The thought that you must work at the 10 commandments.

That vail is removed in Christ.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

That helped me with it too grandpa! thanks.

Sometimes I could almost say...the veil comes and goes with me. I get more consistently seeing the spirit of the word rather than humanly, but I sort of...pop in and out of being able to see...

Was referring to your post #128.

All things are lawful. Not all things are profitable.

What did paul mean by these words?

As for the law and its purpose. as long as people need Christ, and need to be lead to him, the law will have a purpose.
Exactly ! and the purpose is to lead people to Christ ! This the word of God does not yet seem to have accomplished....unless people simply reject it...which puts them outside of God's Will for them....for it is His Will that all men everywhere repent Acts 17v30. But He won't force it on them.
As I have said many times...time to repent and be corrected is NOW....Judgement won't wait for ever and then it will be too late !

The priest does not enter through the Levite priesthood and a veil in a literal temple, the Priest enter through the blood of Messiah...

And make two gold rings for it, under the molding on both its sides. Make them on its two sides, and they shall be holders for the poles to lift it with. And you shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold." And you shall put it before the veil that is before the ark of the Witness, before the lid of atonement that is over the Witness, where I am to meet with you. Hebrews 9:1-28, “Now the first covenant indeed had regulations of worship and the earthly set-apart place. And after the second veil, the part of the Tent which is called Most Set-apart, to which belonged the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were the golden pot that held the manna, and the rod of Aharon that budded, and the tablets of the covenant, and above it the keruḇim of esteem were overshadowing the place of atonement – about which we do not now speak in detail. And these having been prepared like this, the priests always went into the first part of the Tent, accomplishing the services. But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for sins of ignorance of the people, the Set-apart Spirit signifying this, that the way into the Most Set-apart Place was not yet made manifest while the first Tent has a standing, which was a parable for the present time in which both gifts and slaughters are offered which are unable to perfect the one serving, as to his conscience, only as to foods and drinks, and different washings, and fleshly regulations imposed until a time of setting matters straight. That's the question. :) Have the 10 commandments been done away with? Are we now free to lie, steal, kill, etc etc??? Bible verses would help greatly. :)
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Grandpa was referring to the vail Moses wore over his face because his face shined. The vail symbolizes the administration of the law which is done away in Christ.

Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: And not as Moses, [which] put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which [vail] is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:12-18

There's the 4th and 5th places it's mentioned that the law is abolished/done away (καταργέω).

The ten commandments are strictly intended for ISRAEL. They are a part of God's covenant with Israel.

But the principles behind them are eternal.

How shall we who have died to sin live any longer therein?

I think you twist Paul's words into Lawlessness;

2 Peter/Kepha 3:15-17, "and reckon the patience of our Master as deliverance, as also our beloved brother Paul/Sha’ul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him, as also in all his letters, speaking in them concerning these matters, in which some are hard to understand, which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the other Scriptures. You, then, beloved ones, being forewarned, watch, lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the delusion of the lawless, but grow in the favor and knowledge of our Master and Savior יהושע Messiah. To Him be the esteem both now and to a day that abides. Awmiĕn.”

Yahshua makes it clear:

Mat 5:18, "I say to you; Unless heaven and earth passes away, one yodh; the smallest of the letters will in no way pass from the Law, until all things are perfected."

Revelation 21:1, "I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away."

Mat 22:37-40, "Yahshua said to him: You must love YHWH your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. (Deut 6:5) This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Lev 19:18) On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Mat 24:35, “Heaven and earth may pass away, but My teachings will not pass away.”

and the "veil" is the enactment of the Levite priesthood, it is explaine in Hebrews as I showed before and here:

Hebrews 7:13, “For He of whom this is said belongs to another tribe, from which no one had attended at the Altar. For it is perfectly clear that our Master arose from Yehuḏah, a tribe about which Mosheh never spoke of concerning priesthood.”

Hebrews 7:11-12, “Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed (#G3331), there is made of necessity a change (#G3346) also of the law.”

“For the priesthood being changed (#G3331)”

“changed” is word #G3331 μετάθεσις metathesis (me-ta'-the-sis) n., transposition, i.e. transferral (to heaven), disestablishment (of a law). [from G3346], KJV: change, removing, translation, Root(s): G3346

#G3331 μετάθεσις metathesis; 1) transfer: from one place to another 2) to change 2a) of things instituted or established

As in the priesthood on earth, the Levite priesthood has been abolished, and the Priesthood in the heavens, carried out by Yahshua is established. This “change” or “metathesis” is a removal of one that is replaced by another.

“there is made of necessity a change (#G3346) also of the law.”

As in the Law has been transferred, not mediated by Levites but mediated by Yahshua the High Priest. This “change” or “metatithemi” is a transferral.

Therefore He is also able to save completely those who draw near to יהוה through Him, ever living to make intercession for them."

2 Corinthians 3:12-16, “Having then such expectation, we use much boldness of speech, and not like Mosheh, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Yisra’yl should not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. (Exo 34:33-35) But their minds were hardened, for to this day, when the old covenant is being read, that same veil remains, not lifted, because in Messiah it is taken away. But to this day, when Mosheh is being read, a veil lies on their heart. And when one turns to the Master, the veil is taken away.”

Matthew 27:50-52, “And יהושע cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit. And see, the veil of the Dwelling Place was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the set-apart ones who had fallen asleep were raised.”

Hebrews 9:24-25, “For Messiah has not entered into a Set-apart Place made by hand – figures of the true – but into the heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of יהוה on our behalf, not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters into the Set-apart Place year by year with blood not his own.”

Exodus 30:1-10, “And you shall make a sacrifice altar to burn incense on, make it of acacia wood, a cubit long and a cubit wide – it is a square – and two cubits high, its horns of the same. And you shall overlay its top, and its sides all around, and its horns with clean gold. And you shall make for it a molding of gold all around. And Aharon shall burn on it sweet incense, morning by morning. As he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it. And when Aharon lights the lamps between the evenings, he shall burn incense on it – a continual incense before יהוה throughout your generations. Do not offer strange incense on it, or an ascending offering, or a grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it. It is most set-apart to יהוה.”"

Acts 7:48-49, “However, the Most High does not dwell in dwellings made with hands, as the prophet says: ‘The heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. Hebrews 9:11-12, “But Messiah, having become a High Priest of the coming good matters, through the greater and more perfect Tent not made with hands, that is, not of this creation, entered into the Most Set-apart Place once for all, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood, having obtained everlasting redemption.”

Hebrews 10:16, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”

Hebrews 9:1-28, “Now the first covenant indeed had regulations of worship and the earthly set-apart place. For a Tent was prepared: the first part, in which was the lamp-stand, and the table, and the show-bread, which is called the Set-apart Place. But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for sins of ignorance of the people, the Set-apart Spirit signifying this, that the way into the Most Set-apart Place was not yet made manifest while the first Tent has a standing, which was a parable for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which are unable to perfect the one serving, as to his conscience, only as to foods and drinks, and different washings, and fleshly regulations imposed until a time of setting matters straight. But Messiah, having become a High Priest of the coming good matters, through the greater and more perfect Tent not made with hands, that is, not of this creation, entered into the Most Set-apart Place once for all, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood, having obtained everlasting redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the defiled, sets apart for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of the Messiah, who through the everlasting Spirit offered Himself unblemished to the Mighty One, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living Mighty One? And because of this He is the Mediator of a renewed covenant, so that, death having taken place for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, those who are called might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance."9:16, "For where a covenant is, it is necessary for the death of the covenanted one to be established."9:17, "For a covenant over those dead is firm, since it is never valid while the covenanted one is living."9:18, "Therefore not even the first covenant was instituted without blood."9:19, "For when, according to Torah, every command had been spoken by Mosheh to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,"9:20, "saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Mighty One commanded you.” Exo 24:8."9:21, "And in the same way he sprinkled with blood both the Tent and all the vessels of the service."9:22, "And, according to the Torah, almost all is cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."9:23, "It was necessary, then, that the copies of the heavenly ones should be cleansed with these, but the heavenly ones themselves with better sacrifice offerings than these."9:24, "For Messiah has not entered into a Set-apart Place made by hand – figures of the true – but into the heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of the Mighty One on our behalf,"9:25, "not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters into the Set-apart Place year by year with blood not his own."9:26, "For if so, He would have had to suffer often, since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the offering of Himself."9:27, "And as it awaits men to die once, and after this the judgment,"9:28, "so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, Isa 53:12 shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to those waiting for Him, unto deliverance."
