gall bladder flush

I know a few people with gall stones, who had them treated by
sonic shock waves to break them up. Not sure what the criteria is for this
kind of treatment.

Oh and apparently rapid weight loss on a low fat diet can cause gallstones to
grow. (I wouldn’t mind losing a stone or two mind you).

I looked up what causes gallstones, and read that some are made up of hardened cholesterol, while the other, darker ones are caused by excess bilirubin, usually a result of some kind of liver or blood disorder.

Yes I think they do it with gallstones too if they are small enough.

If you read my previous post, I said that I either had one large gall stone (original diagnosis from PET scan, from an oncologist that reads PET scans on a daily basis) or several smaller ones (opinion of ultra sound tech as a "possibility")

When I did the gall bladder flush, most of the stones (they aren't stones, they were like peas) were small like peas. One stone looked like green chewed gum which I gather is common. My theory is this stone was too large to pass through the gall bladder duct but since it is flexible it squished and tore when it went through the duct.
It would have been interesting to examine Hornet Guys large stone to see if it was pliable.
As for Angela53510 whose gall bladder was filled with a cyst and had to argue with the doctor to remove the gall bladder, I don't have anything to say except I'm glad you are better.

This is a quote from a study to measure the "average" diameter of the bile duct out of the gall bladder.

Conclusion: Our study reported the upper limit of normality as 7.9 mm. The diameter increased progressively from 3.9 mm among those aged 18-25 years to 4.7 mm among those in the age group more than 55 years. This was found to be statistically significant. Ductal diameters beyond these limits should prompt the need for further investigations.

The large stone in my gall bladder was 44.5mm in diameter. Even if my bile duct was at the largest diameter seen as "normal", my large gall stone was easily 5 times larger. If I was more "average", it would have been 10 times larger.

Yes... gall stones, if passed, would pass into the small intestine. I can't imagine anyone knowing they had "passed" a gall stone.

My surgeon told me (yesterday, actually) that many/most people will have no problems continuing on with a "normal" diet after removal of their gall bladder... but should probably avoid overloading on fatty foods... which we probably should all be doing, anyway.

She said that the liver will usually compensate for the missing "storage container" to the extent that it really doesn't affect your digestion much, if any.

Yes, I am about to have my gall bladder removed... preventive. I have either one large gall stone, or several smaller ones. In my consultation yesterday, every time I would mention a pain, or a condition, she would smile and nod... I asked her what she was smiling about, and she just said that everything I described was a classic, common symptom of gall bladder problems. Removing it before it blocks a bile duct is much better than waiting until it's an emergency situation.

I refused mine to be removed and the digestive dr. ( Christian dr.) went down with a scope and then he stretched the ducts. this can be done and you don't have to have the gall bladder removed...I have no problems now. I prayed and told God I didn't want this organ removed, and this other method came about . my primary dr. wasn't happy with me, but its my body and dr.'s are too quick to remove something, its the love of money on them and she has learned that I don't listen to anyone but God. they don't always know someones systems
