When the devil was tempting Jesus, he quoted scripture. What two verses did he quote? And what's significant in the next verse after those two?
Actually, Jesus quoted three verses... Deuteronomy 6:13; 6:16; and 8:3 (not in that order though). The verses after each address, in text order,

You shall not follow other gods (6:14);
You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God (6:17); and
Your clothing did not wear out nor did your foot swell these forty years. (8:4)

What is significant about them? The only common thread I see is "Trust and obey the Lord." :)

1st temptation - devil tries to make Jesus doubt that He is the Son of God by telling him to turn some stones into bread and eat.

2nd temptation - again, devil tries to make Jesus doubt that He is the Son of God by telling him to jump off the top of the Temple.

3rd temptation - devil tries to make Jesus worship him (devil) just one time in return for all the kingdoms of the world.

So, what scriptures..................:confused:
