Oh and back to the glorified karaoke singles...i feel the need to clarify since i didnt really explain anything. I dont mind people redoing praise and worship songs from others. Like if Band A wants to do a cover of a worship song from Band B it's all well and good. The thing I can't stand is David Crowder covers other peoples praise and worship songs, and then turns them into radio singles. That is the part that annoys. Taking someone else's song for personal gain of record sales and the such by using it as a single.

He didn't make All Around Me any more popular than it already was. In fact, I know Crowder fans that cannot stand his All Around Me cover.
I don't know David Crowder, so what I am about to say is just conjecture, but I don't think he covers songs in order to make money off of them. It seems more likely that he does covers of songs because they minister to him, so he wishes to bless others by ministering to them through the same song.

My music!!! lol I got a very encouraging email from a 17 yr old guy in america recently that he was having trouble finding good christian music because it was just like what the world was producing only with Christian lyrics. God really touched him through some of my songs in a powerful way, it really blessed me because Im not interested in performance or fame, I just want to know God and for people to be impacted and grow closer to Him through what I do. Why does it matter whether music is "cheesy"? Did you guys know that music that is praising God is supposed to be about HIM, not about us? Have you ever studied what the Bible says about music? I used to be into CCM, but the way most performers sing draws all my attention to them, not to God. I'm not arguing conservative vs. contemporary, but wouldn't you guys say the most important thing is what God thinks about it? Probably everything I listen to would be considered cheesy. www.sacredaudio.com, www.abidingradio.com. I know that this is music that is honoring to God. I'm always thinking about the words and about God while I'm listening to it, not about the style or how cool it is. If cheesy music is honoring to God, I'll listen to it forever.
And Fundamental Broadcasting Network is another one that plays God honoring music. They have alot of the sacredaudio artists, like Soundforth and Petit, Foundation Brass etc. but it's streamed.

You're right about agree to disagree. I would never argue with someone about a controversial issue like music, if they were not open to changing their opinion. But, I would discuss it with someone who was searching for the Lord's will instead of just following their own opinion. You know the verse in Proverbs that says "Iron sharpeneth iron?" As Christian brothers and sisters, we are supposed to be trying to help each other whenever possible (while keeping a good spirit). CCM is part of what hindered my relationship with God and with my parents in the past, and I would not want that for any of my Christian brothers or sisters.
if by ccm you mean the average drivel they play on the radio, then I must agree. I find it terrible and cant listen either. Personally i have found many excellent christian bands online through sites like you tube

I do believe that what the song is trying to say is that God appreciates when we can humble ourselves and cry out to Him as our comforter more than some people who just habitually say words of praise without meaning behind them. He wants us to be honest and cry out that we need Him before just repeating words we hear over and over at church. Throughout the verses as well, it says "sometimes" after "better than a hallelujah." Just pointing that out =]

He wanted a bigger outreach than just repeating the same things to other Christians that they hear every day. He writes all of his music and plays all of the instruments as well. He's truly inspiring. The vast majority of his music sends a positive message and much of it has evident Christian influence. He never fails to acknowledge God in concert, too. Go on. Check him out. I thought CCM she meant all the music endorsed by 'Christ Community Music' magazine.. but i'd hope i was wrong! 'cause CCM has everything from brandon heath to underoath to rebecca st.james. they cover a whole spectrum of Christian artists. www.ccmmagazine.com
and technically.. the radio station i loved to listen to where i grew up had and still has the almost, skillet, underoath and the devil wears prada on it.. so that could be considered 'avg drivel' to some.
