Gods Word never changes. Its the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. He remains the same always. Its us who stray and become different yet year to year God and His Word is true and never changes. So if sin in itself is still to be seen as taboo, and God told us to go and repent and sin no more, and in James it talks about how if you commit one sin, is like committing them all. In other words, none is exempt from sin except Jesus who has never sinned. That shows us that the topic of sin is an important lesson that we need to learn. If one turns their back on the Lord and never cares that they have done so ever again, meaning they have shed His love, Word and all that He ever meant to their life for good never thinking a second thought of the consequences of their actions, then this is the unpardonable sin. But many have questioned the Lord and done terrible things and had truly repented for what they have done. How many times must I forgive my brother? 70 x 7 = As many as it takes. This is what it really means in the greek as look at Peter when he denied Jesus at the cross. If one sin is like all the others, then it makes no difference what sin we have done. Not to God anyways. For we still cant reach perfection with out the blood of Christ making that way for us. he has to plea on our behalf and if we are completely perfect but only sin once, compared to another who sins 50 times, they still cant attain Heaven without Jesus blood blotting out their sin. We cant reach heaven no matter how far our ladder is. the only ladder we can possibly have is through Jesus. That is why the unpardonable sin is for only those who truly refuse to let Christ in their life and even until their death bed, will not let Him in. Even the thief on the cross was given freedom at the last moment of life and so if Gods Word is the same for all, and He plays no favorites, then i believe with all my heart, we will never know who truly has committed the unpardonable sin until we get home. for Only God knows. That is what hope and faith do is give us the hope that anything is possible. Even those who were once lost can be found, yet again.. :)

All of the word of God is the truth, the blood, and the Spirit of Jesus.

When we speak against truths in God's word, are we not speaking against the Spirit of God?

If someone doesn't receive Christ, they are not necessarily speaking against the Holy Spirit, but if they call a truth of God, a doctrine of devils, haven't they spoken against the Holy Spirit seeing that He IS the truth?

For example, calling WOF a doctrine of devils is speaking against the Spirit. Since it is clearly written in scripture.

If you look at when blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is written.. its about people denying salvation in the first place. How can denying the Son be forgiven but blaspheming the Holy Spirit not?

Only if its rejecting the initial call to be saved.

Matthew 12 has the scripture for this

Hello know1,

I do not know what "WOF" is? However, I do not believe that calling any doctrine a doctrine of devils is speaking against the Holy Spirit. I believe rejecting Jesus Christ as the only Savior when the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus as such - this is the ONLY unpardonable sin.

Jesus is THE WORD OF GOD made flesh and dwelt among us. However, many did not understand and they spoke against Him and accused Him of blasphemy against God. Yet, God did not condemn them, He simply refuted them, usually with another question or parable.

Man has pulled many doctrines out of the scriptures, but only what the Holy Spirit has revealed as Truth is necessary.

On purpose, Jesus spoke in parables and He would often say at the end of a story, "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying." Then, He'd leave.

Now, when the Holy Spirit reveals Truth to us - we KNOW it is TRUE. Only pride rejects Truth. Pride refuses to submit to God.

The words of Jesus WITHOUT the Holy Spirit are words without understanding and we remain ignorant and easily led astray by every whim of doctrine.
The words of Jesus WITH the Holy Spirit are words WITH understanding and an "undeniable knowing" that those words are TRUE.

Peace.........rest in the Holy Spirit. No need to fret over doctrine. Just buy the Truth and sell it not. :)

WOF is an acronym for word(s) of faith. It is written in Romans 8:6, and it is denied by many because of the abuses of many who use it. It is taught that speaking words of faith is a doctrine of devils by some here on CC.

To me, WOF is clearly of God, as I have proven it time and time again with no one able to refute what I have written, and if it is a truth of God and if the Holy Spirit is the truth, which He is, then they have in effect spoken against the Holy Ghost. Again, that is how I see it.

The reason Jesus is the truth is because of the Spirit that is in Him, because as it is written, as the spirit is in you, SO ARE YOU.

It is written that we are saved BY THE WORD of God.

It is also written that except we eat Jesus' flesh and drink His blood, WE HAVE NO LIFE IN US.

Do you know what the blood of Jesus is?

It is the word of God. Both the word of God and the Spirit of God are one. The life of the body is in the blood, and without a spirit of the Spirit of God, which is the breath of God, the body dies. They both cleanse the person. Have you not read about the "living water" that will spring up out of the belly of the believer? And what flowed out of Jesus when the soldier pulled out the spear from Jesus' side? Blood and water. The Blood IS the Spirit of God, and the water is the Word of God, and the two are one, even as the triune God is one. Without the Spirit, the letter or words of God, kills, but the Spirit gives that word life.

The seed of the gospel that we must keep to the end is the word of the gospel. That word IS a seed/offspring of and from the Spirit of God. If you receive that word you have receive the blood of Jesus and therefore the Spirit of the same.

It is part of the reason why we are called sons and daughters of the Most High God.

Without receiving the word of God, THERE IS NO SALVATION, because where the word goes, the Spirit goes. If you reject the truth of the word of God, then you have in effect, rejected God. If you have spoken against the truth of the word of God, then you have in effect, spoken against the Spirit of God, for the word is a seed or offspring of the Spirit, and to speak against the seed of God is to speak against the Spirit of God, even as what is done to us is done to Jesus, because a seed of Jesus' flesh is in us.

I can backup all that I wrote with many scriptures.

Anyway, that is why I believe speaking against the truth of the gospel is speaking against the Spirit.

Unpardonable sin IMO is not something that men can do; it is something that touches on the sovereignty of God and the punishment is more like treason. There's so far one example of one who committed it, he is called satan- he claimed to be God. No man in the right mind, knowing who God is, will claim to be God or try to be God.

That's why all sin are forgiven men. Even after every worse thing men did (including denying God), Jesus still said "...Father forgive them for they know not what they do..."

I think the vast majority of church goers do the unpardonable sin every day. They're the ones who go to church to get something for themselves -- a feel-good experience, brownie points towards the eternal-vacation, look good without being good, and esteem.

Jesus had throngs of people around him most of the time, and yet once he said something they didn't like, 90% would leave.

If you don't trust the Holy Spirit, you're committing the unpardonable sin. And that's not to say, if you get angry with God or are hesitant in your beliefs. It's saying you trust self more than God.

I think the vast majority of people who come on this site have already done that. The real question in life is if God changes that in a person. If he changes that, we can't but trust in him forever.

And here is my proof that shows how easily people blaspheme God on this site. Suddenly calling a heretical belief system heretical is speaking against God.

No. It's telling the truth as God sees it, but it is far better that this one thinks he can control who god is in the minds of others. Thus, not trusting the Spirit, but trusting a heretical cult.

All of the word of God is the truth, the blood, and the Spirit of Jesus.

WoF is a cult. They teach if you do it just right, God owes you prosperity -- whether in physical healing or financial gain. It's New Age wrapped up with the word God/Jesus slipped in here and there. The teachers are Joseph Prince, Joel Olsteen, and Paul Ellis -- heretics. It's definitely not doctrine, biblical, nor God's Word. It is hypergrace, and is being preached on this site often by Joanie, Ben, and know1. When they say "Faith," and when they say, "Grace," that is the gods of their lives.

That blasphemes against the Holy Spirit: it is blaspheme associated with attributing
the works Jesus did using the Holy Spirit, [the power of God] to that of demons.

Matthew 9
34But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

matthew 11
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous,
and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

matthew 12
24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils,
but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

25Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation;
and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out?
therefore they shall be your judges.

28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods,
except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven
unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him:
but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him,
neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt,
and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things?
for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

mark 3
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men,
and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness,
but is in danger of eternal damnation:
30Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

luke 11
Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation;
and a house divided against a house falleth.
18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand?
because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out?
therefore shall they be your judges.
20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God
is come upon you.

John 8
48Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan,
and hast a devil?
49Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

John 10
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father:
and I lay down my life for the sheep.

19There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
20And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
21Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil.
Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

41And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle:
but all things that John spake of this man were true.

-anti christ

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God:
and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come;
and even now already is it in the world.

As the quote says “Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.” Clearly it says speaking against the son of man, Christ and therefore Christianity is forgivable, denying and speaking against the holy spirit, the power of gods word, The truth. Denying that there is a god, of any kind or denomination, this is unforgivable.
Those that speak against the son of man will/can be forgiven, atheists will not be forgiven. Our responsibility as Christians is to forgive spiritual/religious people who blasphem and persecute Christianity and Christ, and when possible educate them, they still will be forgiven and be saved. Our focus and energies should be focused on atheists, those that refuse and deny the power and actions of gods Holy Spirit clearly at work in their lives and all around them will not be forgiven or be saved.

I am soooooo glad and thankful that I LOVE THE TRUTH (JESUS CHRIST) WITH ALL MY HEART, SOUL, SPIRIT, STRENGTH AND MIND.

Matthew 12:31-32

Anyone who speaks a wordagainst the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against theHoly Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

I would offer in the end of the matter it is in respect to a faith issue, the unseen eternal, as the things of God not seen and not in respect to the things of men the temporal, as that seen.

Blasphemy the work of attributing the work of another to ones own self is like plagiarism.

It is forgiven if we would attribute to that seen man. But will not be forgiven if we attribute it to any other spirit other than the Holy Spirit of God not seen. In that same sense we are to have no gods as that not seen in respect to the visible before our living God. That would be to violate the first commandment. Blasphemy is the cause of violating the first commandment.(no images)

The reason for thefall in the garden. Doing the pleasure of another's will as that seen, thefather of lies who puts his words in the mouth of a creature (seen) No faith instant gratification.

The best example of blasphemy against the Son of man asthat seen is in Mathew 16 where blasphemy was forgiven of Peter used as aantichrist who was influenced by the god of this world called the “things ofmen” .

It would be the oral traditions of men as the things ofmen as that as seen it offends our God not seen .
When Christ as the Son of man left there remained no forgiveness for blasphemy. If he the Son of man did not leave the promised HolySpirit could not come. God who is not a man as us refuses worship in respect to the things of men seen .It clearly offends Him

Then Peter who denied Christ over and over being forgiven each time

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying,Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But
he turned, and saidunto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thousavourest not "the things" that be of God, but those that be of men…..Mathew 16:22-23

Two masters to choose from as to who we will serve.(1) The invisible eternal things that be of God or (2) the visible as to the temporal things of men.

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen aretemporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.2Corinthiians 4:18

This means a acts and works that are performed by the holy spirit. Calling it a lie, and not the truth. Such as miracles performed, speaking in tongues, healing, raising the dead, the blind given their sight., calling these things phony . The devil cannot and will not perform such acts, because he is against God and mankind. He only wants to kill, steal and destroy, and this many do not talk against.

I apologize for my inability to articulate my thoughts effectively.
I also understand that what I have written is controversial. That is, if you understood what I wrote.
And that was a very nice way of saying either you don't agree or you don't understand.
Either way, that was Christ like. Thank you.
It's nice to see some Christian maturity on this site.

What would you say [biblical evidence, please]? (BTW, Andrew Farley was once asked by a listener if divorce was unforgivable)
Yes.. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is when you blaspheme the Holy Spirit.. A foundational belief in Christianity is that the Holy Spirit comes and dwells within us when we believe Jesus and trust in the Atonement He secured for our salvation.. So if someone points at a true Christian and declares that they are lead by satan or that they are demon possessed or they are a took of the devil,, Then they are actually blaspheming the One who is dwelling inside them by declaring them to be satan / demon..

That's why Christians should never get into the habit of throwing such accusations towards anyone who professes to be a Christian.. If the person is not truly a Christian then God knows and will deal with them on the day of judgement.. All a Christian has to do is just use the Word of God to show that the person is wrong in one or another belief and move on without throwing any public accusations that they are a servant of the devil.. Because there is always a possibility that you can be wrong in making that kind of judgement..

When Jesus was on earth He was the only One in-dwelled by the Holy Spirit.. So the scribes who declared that He did His signs by the power of a demon where the only ones to commit this unforgivable sin in His day.. But today in the ""church age"" there are millions of people walking around who are in-dwelled by the Holy Spirit.. And who among us has not watched a debate between people who claim to be Christians where one or both of the people ended up saying that the other one was a servant of satan or some such other equivalent accusation..

I have been on Christian forum and chat sites for over 10 years and it has happened to me probably 5 times..

It is a terrible thing to experience when it happens..
