I agree with Shard regarding church attire. In my opinion formal attire isn't necessary for church. I mean, that's not the reason we're there right? It also makes church newcomers feel uncomfortable to have other church members looking down on them for their lack of formal clothing and I think churches should make an effort to be welcoming to all those who seek. As long as you still look nice and respectable, I see nothing wrong with jeans and nice top.
As for the worship music, I have a slightly varying opinion. As a new Christian, I've spent the entire summer looking for the right church for me. I found one I absolutely LOVED. The music was upbeat, contemporary, and uplifting and everyone in the church was so on fire and passionate for God, it was awesome. But after a few services, I began to realize that worship was really the primary focus of the service. Although truthful, the sermons were not as meaningful and challenging as I needed. So I found another church that is rooted in the bible and has amazing, challenging, and convicting sermons. Although the music is more traditional, I feel that the CONTENT is what is most important. So I chose to go to this church instead.
