I appreciate your opinion, but it sounds like you haven't done your research on bc. There are medical conditions to where contraceptives are used to help alleviate some symptoms to get some relief....like women who have endriometriosis or other diseases of the reproductive system. For example I have cysts and have had a few rupture over the course of time and menstrual cramps that are unbearable along with migraines that are partially related to hormones and bc helps relieve some of the discomfort.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people assume you are sexually active just because you are on birth control
Even if you were it wouldnt be a shame. I had some veeery bad issues but the pill ended up makingbeing things way worse for me. So I had the choice pf risking to nearly die of bleeding too much (and hoping for it to get into order itself) or throwing up and having horrific migraines every week....i choose the frst option first until later getting something else lol

Anything that is not of Faith is a sin. So to me, the question should be whether Christians are taking contraceptives by Faith or not. If it is not by Faith, it is a sin because whatever does not proceed from Faith is sin (Romans 14:23).

Isnt that that metal or plastic hook?
I meant the implants that get put into the arm to put the hormones directly into the bloodstream. Fact is a pill can be stopped, a nuva ring can be taken out if it makes u sick.
Any injection or implant is horrific
The name of it escapes me....I think it was copper. She'd know but I can't for the life of me think of it lol. I agree pills etc can be stopped but the hormonal damage can often already be done....especially with the shot it seems. that said I'm likely not the best person to advocate for a birth control lol

Well do not use pills or other birth control medicines almost frequently to prevent possible worse side effects to your body.

Couples will use contraceptives if they cannot control their libido and just want to have sex and do not wish to procreate because they cannot afford to raise the child well.

you can't prevent the loving couples to have sex because sex is the highest form of love.

If you're not a Catholic like me, you don't need to subscribe to the distorted teaching of our clergy that you should not fear to have lots of children because God will provide for their needs.

contrary to what you can read in Ecclesiastes 6:3.

I'm not catholic. I also don't think you should just throw caution to the wind and have children if you're not in the place to provide for them. We're currently expected our second...and most likely last child.

Through what? pregnancy? She wasn't exactly unwilling. She'd prefer to have 4 or 5. We're by no means destitute and no one supports us other than me. We're young.... but having kids about every 2 years isn't that uncommon and it's not like we're having 12 children in 10 years. Even if we were....if I'm not forcing her to stay barefoot...uneducated...and pregnant in the kitchen I don't see a huge issue with it. She's only sad that I said no more after 2 lol.

Sex is far from the highest form of love....if this was true God would be sexual.

Sex is Highest form of love in human relationships and humans copulate not only because of pleasure and satisfaction but also because of romantic love.

but God's love is to offer seeds of salvation to humankind. Your love of God is following His commandments (1 John 5:3) Loving your neighbor is also loving God too in 1 John Chapter 4.

That is not at all what Paul said in Corinthians about love. He did not even mention sex in 1Cor 13 4-7.

I think you have been reading too many romance novels.

John 15:12-14 Are the words of Jesus. Paul just said the greatest power is love, but the greatest love is what is taught by my Master Jesus Christ. He is not a mere romance novel.

John 15:12-14

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Agreed Jesus is not a romance novel(y)

My point was that unfortunately our modern culture has taught us to see everything throw the lens of sex and romance.

What I mean here is sex is the highest form of love a man can show to his wife.

of course the highest form of love is to give his life for your friend according to St. John.

I would have disagree with that too! You are to love your wife as Christ loves that church (believers).

I live in a Catholic majority poor and corrupt nation and our local bishops say that using contraceptives is a sin and tantamount to abortion.

What will you say about this according to the belief you learned from your Bible based group? Is it okay to know what is the name of your Bible based group too?

There are lots of Bible based groups in the world and I don't know if majority of them agrees with our local bishops.
Hello Jameen,

A good rule of thumb is that, if anything is being used or done to prevent the natural process of conception or aborting birth, then it would be a sin, because you would be interfering with God's process of birth. It is only because of technology and science that we have been able to alter this process.

There is a scripture that touches on this:

"Now Judah acquired a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the LORD’s sight; so the LORD put him to death. Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and raise up offspring for your brother.”

But Onan knew that the offspring would not belong to him; so whenever he would sleep with his brother’s wife, he would spill his seed on the ground so that he would not produce offspring for his brother. What he did was evil in the LORD’s sight, so He put Onan to death as well."

The reason that God put Onan to death would be two-fold, one, for breaking the law of raising children for his dead brother and two, because he spilled his seed on the ground circumvention God's natural process of conception.

I think it is Onan only who was commanded in that verse and not to all married people. because if it what happened to Onan will happen to some people then those Catholic brethren who used birth control medicines will automatically die.

It is clear also in the Bible in Genesis "Go forth and multiply and SUBDUE it" subdue means control.

And this verse is for sure will not be read by our opportunistic Catholic priests. they keep insisting preaching that Catholics must multiply because It is commanded by God and God will provide for their children's need.

Ecclesiastes 6:3 If a man begets a hundred children, and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but he does not enjoy life’s good things, and also has no burial, I say that an untimely birth is better off than he. (tantamount to it is better for you not to live)

I never believe using contraceptives is automatically a sin. I believe it depends on the intention.

If you'll use it for your fornication or extramarital affairs then it is a sin but if you'll use it because you know you can't afford to raise children if you copulate, then God will not include this as sin.
