Is this another way of saying, "I don't believe God's word"? It seems to be a position of compromise, not willing to stand on God's word, and rather be a people pleaser. Risking the chance of offending others, they submit to political correctness. They seem to approve of communities that boast in sin, while professing to be "Christian." They alienate themselves from traditional values to make peace with the world. One might take the stance of "let go and let live" but to actually endorse, approve, and rejoice in the practice of sin?

Love is not approving of sin, love is showing the way to overcome sin and its penalty. We do not love the world by embracing its fallen nature. We reveal the light to them, the love of Christ. We share the Gospel. We do not feign interest in their indulgences, but offer genuine interest in their souls. We love them, because God loves them. Just as the Lord lets it rain on the good, and the evil, and lets the sun shine upon both. We love people.

If you proclaim to be a Christian, do not be so open minded that you would make friendship with the world at the cost of their soul. You have done them a great disservice. Offer them an embrace, but not an embrace of their sin. Show them love, true love. Preach the Gospel, share the truth. Will you have blood on your hands? Tainted with those perishing, as you lulled them into a false sense of security. They need to repent, and believe in Jesus. As you too ought to repent and stand with God's word.

May God bless you, guide you, and the Spirit guide you into all truth. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Preach it. I think it's a case of ignorance or misinformation though. Most 'open-minded' Christians, if not all, have good intentions. Just misguided. The good news of His grace is the power to overcome sin, not to empower sin.

You should define an "opened mind", I think.

Because its not a "political correctness". Its an ability to think out of the box you were put in by tradition, culture, faith, surroundings, education etc.

So, if you were raised as a believer in policital correctness, your open-mindness may be the opposite of it.

To have an open mind is to go where the evidence leads, regardless of your inner belief system.

Yea, I thought ‘open minded christians’ were those people who are ‘open minded’ to hearing about other peoples faiths/beliefs, which can be dangerous as you are being open to all sorts of nonsense.....

It’s abit like having a open relationship, you are ‘open’ to being with different partners, but you could run a higher risk of catching a STD.

I take most of us here are conservative Christians, so by open-mindedness, I understand that as being the opposite. Semantics always makes things complicated.

It's pretty clear in the context of OP too, by open-minded Christians, I think he means those who tolerate living in sin. Or think it's OK by God's standards.

In that case its "liberalism" as the opposite of "conservatism", not "open mind".

Semantics has a purpose. Terms have meanings.

BTW, what do you mean by "conservative Christian"? What does such a Christian have to believe in?

We can argue about semantics and lose track of what's important. I've made my point. :)

That's out of topic. See my post #6

Not only tolerate, but outright endorse. Contextually I am speaking of the myriad of comments I was reading on a video on Youtube by Lilly Singh (Superwoman) about homophobia (in celebration of Pride), and I kept reading Christians say, "I am open minded" and go on to show their approval of homosexuality, gay marriage, and LGBTQ community. Saying how they loved the video, that bashed Christians and their "archaic book."

Its probably hard to be a Christian in a traditionally Christian country.

Most of Christians are just cultural Christians and now who can recognize what is Christianity and what it is not. It may certainly make the world confused about it.

I live in an atheist country where there are about 2% of protestants, so when I meet one, its mostly a real one.

Yes, this happens a lot nowadays. I guess we're now in the time the bible said when people are calling evil, good and good, evil.

It was not my term, but their use of it. "I am an open minded Christian" is often used to alienate oneself from the perceived traditional understandings of scripture towards certain practices or sins. Its their way of saying they don't agree with the Bible (or such interpretations of it) that negatively portrays anyone within the LGBTQ community.

I see. If its their wrong use of the term, I would put it into quotations, then. "Open minded" Christians.

I wouldn't want to be close-minded, and not accept their terms. I think the idea of claiming open-mindedness to them is in direct correlation to Christians being called bigoted. They don't wish to be looked at in that way. So, they come in agreement with people about things contradictory to God's word.

As Christians we are instructed to be single minded. We are simple people, the unbelievers are very complicated and everything is complicated in their world view.
Non believers find the Gospel too simple, they expect to hear a complicated formula to solve life's problems.
I have found the "intelligent open minded people" the hardest to share the Gospel with. It seems the more educated they are the less likely they are to believe the Gospel.

For a conservative Christ to "think outside the box" means to take every belief and examine it in the light of God's Truth (the Bible). The world thinks within the box of worldly wisdom.

Open minded is just the PC code words for an unguarded mind..

When you mind is unguarded anyone can fill it with all kinds of garbage..
