posthuman, I can never understand why when an electric field goes in one direction, it rotates in some weird direction at 90 degree angle, clockwise while piercing through that one direction

ok, kingdom can be spiritual kingdoms, with hordes of demons running rampant, Jesus would look at it and be like "eew" unless if Satan is also a crafty liar that makes the kingdom look desirable

ah ha, one of those hidden assumption we make when we read the Bible
it doesn't have to be full of demon hordes to be spiritual..

but the Bible doesn't talk about for example the kingdom of Tyre as the land and buildings of Tyre. it's an abstraction, not a piece of real estate.

Maybe it was alternating current?
maybe it's a coil of wire around a cylinder?
it's not clear what field he's talking about. everything depends on the geometry and direction of the flow of charge, of there is any. he might even be talking about a magnetic field. every different configuration of shape and current produces different field geometry, but they all obey Maxwell's equations.

what's weird about a 90º angle?
Newton's law of motion

1st, things go in a straight line or rest unless of acted by another force

2nd, F = m*a

3rd law
equal and opposite reaction,

now where did that 90 angle force come from?

I know nothing about direct or alternating current
I don't either but I know that there is direct current and alternating current - AC / DC. I am surmising that a lightning strike is direct current. I read somewhere that a lightning strike actually starts from the ground and moves upwards. Don't know if that's true or not but that to be very interesting as it appears to do the opposite.

that was kind of a joke, but yeah, if you don't recognize Maxwell's equations it's probably safe for me to assume that there's no reason i should expect you to understand why an E or B field takes the shape it does.
so pointing out that the observed magnetic field of the earth totally contradicts flat-earth and totally confirms globe-earth would be a wasted post. you're probably completely unprepared to have that conversation, or even to understand why that's significant.

that's the real trouble, for me, with these flat threads.
the participants generally don't really have a clue what they're talking about ((can't think of a gentler way to say that)). so i can spend hours refuting arguments, but it's wasted, because they don't comprehend their own arguments -- which, for the most part, are arguments they would never make if they understood them.

((from my perspective - post has multiple degrees in physics, astronomy, math))

it's interesting to me, still, in any case. i have to figure out ways to explain things to people who don't have the background to really participate in the discussion they want to have. that's a puzzle, and as post's friend says, "if it wasn't a puzzle it wouldn't be any fun"

how lightning come from the ground up does not make sense
lightning is a complicated process. by and large it's produced from friction between the stormclouds and other things ((lighting can be between the earth and cloud, cloud to cloud, and above the clouds to the stratosphere)) building up polarity - a high electrical potential difference. this starts polarizing everything in-between, and a channel of ionized air forms from both directions, from the earth up and from the clouds down. when they meet electrons can flow - which is from the cloud, down. but what you see isn't the electricity; it's the air the electricity passed through burning up in superheated plasma. thunderclaps are literally the sound of the air falling apart. that exploding air event that we see doesn't necessarily start at the cloud, tho iirc it can.

howstuffworks.com is usually a decent place to read at a not-too-complicated level about stuff like this, and many other things: https://science.howstuffworks.com/nature/natural-disasters/lightning.htm

this is off top of my head & i'm not a climatologist; i might have some things wrong and the article could contradict me. i should look things up but tbh i don't have time at the moment :)

clearly, layman's intuition on physics can be wrong for some reason

that's absolutely right and i need to be always reminded - thank you :)

what i was getting at was something closer to Proverbs 10:21, and Hosea 4:6 -- lack of knowledge is destructive.

because God made it this way, that knowledge has to be searched out. the Bible is the same - any part of it, you can devote your whole life looking to understand and find all the knowledge of what He is saying to us, and not begin to uncover. and there are many things that superficially make no sense, but prove Christ when they're found out.
He commands, "search the scriptures" saying the testify of Him. He wants us to dig, and find things out.

um, no, it would be fake if their hair didn't do that.

that's what you should expect their hair to do.

btw what kind of background do you have? how much physics do you actually know, well enough to actually talk about these things?
do you know anything about optics, like how to draw a basic ray diagram? or art, drawing in linear perspective?
I know how to draw. If you want to believe in the solar system, that's your business, but what if the earth is flat. Does it make any difference. It does too me, because the government has lied to us. They told us in school that we came from monkeys. They said the dinosaurs where here before man. Trying to make us think differently about creation. The earth was dark and void at the beginning. Trying to make us think God wasn't the one would created the earth. Trying to make us think there is no God. Creation came from a big boom.

this big boom you are talking about is God creating the world in Genesis 1:1, and for a long time, everything around earth is "dark and void" Genesis 1:2, and the God was hovering over the surface of the water, because God made earth to be waters.

Perhaps you should stop relying on the government for your source of information. It has been known for centuries that the earth is round, rotates in a 24 hour cycle and revolves around the Sun once every 365 1/4 days. By the government do you mean the US government? This is not the only government in the world you know. There are those that believe that the earth is flat but in the centuries since creation no one had the ambition or the means to travel to the edges and document what is there. That in itself is unbelievable. Someone has indeed lied to you but it wasn't the government.

Someone did fly to the edge. Admiral Byrd. He flew to the south pole. He ran into an ice wall. I believe he found where the earth ends. At Antarctica. After he explored it and they did operation high jump, all of the leaders from every country signed a treaty that no one would ever be allowed to go to the south pole. I believe it is a ice wall that goes around the whole earth. After operation high jump the Russians started shooting missals straight up. I believe they were trying to see how high the firmament is. because I believe they found the edge and don't want anyone else to know, and they are not able to pass through.
