I know one who is a real Apostle. He has definitely been sent by God. He lives by faith.Yes there are still apostles but the self proclaiming ones hehehehe
To be a real apostle
you should have met Jesus in person and even dined with him once.
For sure there are those persons who are self identified apostles. However, they are not actually Apostles. Some Christians says that there are no more apostles today. Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers. Some Christians believe that the others are still around, but not the apostles.
Gal:1:19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. , Acts 14:14 , But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting. Roman 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.For sure there are those persons who are self identified apostles. However, they are not actually Apostles.
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus used "apostle" to refer to messengers sent by God to preach to Israel:
Because of this, God in his wisdom said, "I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute." (Luke 11:49, NIV)However, the primary definition applies to a singular group of men who held a supreme role in the early church. The apostles were Jesus Christ's 12 closest disciples, chosen by him early in his ministry to spread the gospel after his death and resurrection. In the Bible, they are called Jesus' disciples until the Lord's ascension into heaven. Thereafter, they are referred to as apostles.
19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother.

Does Paul's reference supersede that of the Christ?Gal:1:19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. , Acts 14:14 , But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting. Roman 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.

Apostles ad prophets are no longer around because we have a complete Bible and there are only TWELVE APOSTLES OF THE LAMB (Judas excluded and Paul included). Some Christians says that there are no more apostles today. And the wall of the city [New Jerusalem] had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Rev 21:14).

Not relevant.because we have a complete Bible
Yes, there are twelve apostles of the Lamb, but there are apostles in the church today.and there are only TWELVE APOSTLES OF THE LAMB (Judas excluded and Paul included).
Yes, that is referring to the twelve apostles of the Lamb. There are others. And the wall of the city [New Jerusalem] had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Rev 21:14).
Responding to Gal 1:19 with Gal 1:18....Gal:1:19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. , Acts 14:14 , But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting. Roman 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was. And there are even more.
Well this all depends on one's "definition" of "apostles" for as far as "Apostles" meaning "original 12 of the disciples"(matthias chosen by lots in place of judas iscariot) one who was chosen by Jesus as a chosen vassal there were but 12 with the "exception" of Paul because unlike the rest he was chosen before hand as an apostle/chosen vassal and did not "follow him" as a disciple only through the revelation of Jesus and stopping him from slaying more people did Saul come to know Jesus in any "good wise".Yes they are.
Not relevant.
Yes, there are twelve apostles of the Lamb, but there are apostles in the church today.
(and what about Matthias? [Acts 1:23ff])
Yes, that is referring to the twelve apostles of the Lamb. There are others.
Thanks this saves me from having to clarify in my post because basically you said what I was about to say.We need to define what we mean by the term:
a) in a general meaning, somebody who is sent or feel to be sent to spread the word
- there are many such people today, we call them preachers or missionaries
b) in a special meaning, people sent personally by Christ, with special authority and special signs, to give us doctrines about Christianity
- I think that they are not here today
SCRIPTURE DOES NOT CONTRADICT ITSELF.Gal:1:19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. , Acts 14:14 , But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting. Roman 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was. And there are even more.
