Example of circular reasoning. The Muslim asserts that allah is god. When it is proven that allah is not God he returns to his original assertion that allah is god.

Example of circular reasoning. An absence of knowledge produces edification. When it is shown that edification requires knowledge we return to the original assertion that edification is present without knowledge.

A logical fallacy is a fallacy period it is simply not logical.

For once I can agree with your post. However, your implication is baseless.

Matters spirituality will always seem foolish and illogical to the 'wise' of this world. You tell them Jesus died and resurrected on the third day- they'll say it is illogical; of course it is illogical when viewed in the context of the world's wisdom, that's why we apply faith.
That may be how the "wise of the world" view such things. I think that God's ways are very soundly logical.

The word of God is the base of the knwolegde of God as a law of His faith .

What kind of base are you seeking after?

My post has nothing to do with "seeking after a base". It wasn't addressed to you, and apparently you are unaware of the context in which I wrote it. Roger was making an implication regarding my position which is not true. That is why I wrote that his implication is baseless - it is not based on truth.

Good question. Are we edified when we attain knowledge? Are we edified when we attain understanding? Are we edified when we attain wisdom? Do we require all three or is any one of them sufficient in its own?

Attaining knowledge may edify the one who attains. It may not.

Attaining understanding may edify the one who attains. It may not.

Attaining wisdom probably edify the one who attains. It may not.

Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up... as in... edifies (1 Cor 8:1).

Well you are close.

Without knowledge there can be no edification.

Without understanding there can be no additional edification above knowledge.

Wisdom is the greatest edification and depends on knowledge and understanding.

Knowledge consumed upon the lusts of mans heart puffs up and does not edify.

Love edifies through the Holy Spirit. Love requires a knowledge of Christ to edify.

1 Cor 16:13 ¶ Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
14 Let all your things be done with charity.

What is your biblical authority for the bolded statements? Where is the love that is clearly better than knowledge for edification?

Without knowledge how will you know? Love does not supplant knowledge. Without knowledge of Gods saving grace how can you love?

Round and around we go.

Knowlegde puffs up the self righteous, the self edified ones. It does not build up the whole body of Christ as representative glory of God not seen . Love covers a multitude of sin. It is not effected when it comes beside the pride of others that idolize themselves .It suffers long and is kind toward the self righteous edifiers of self in a hope that God would apply the gospel and humble them

1 Corinthians 8:1Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

The Scripture says, "knowledge puffs up, but love builds up". You twisted that to say, "Knowledge puffs up the self-righteous."

Anything else you wish to add to Scripture? It's disappointing from the one who frequently writes, "Why go above what is written?"

Yes those who seek to edify their own self as a outward sign the Holy Spirit is filling them puffing themselves above that which is written as if that which they did freeiy receive (no human endeavor) was of their own selves and not God who makes men differ from one another .The self righteous like the man in Mathew 7,

"Why go above what is written?

That'a a lot of words, but it isn't a sentence.

You are still using circular reasoning. Neither you nor Roger has established from Scripture that the "edifies himself" of 1 Cor 14:4 is a bad thing. Both of you are starting from the premise that self-edification is bad, and you conclude that self-edification is bad. No matter how much other material you put in between, it's still circular, and is not logically sound.

Back to basics. The word "unknown" was added all six times ( (I Cor. 14:2, 4, 13, 14, 19, & 27,) to those who seek to edify their own selves as a false evidence they are being filled with the Holy Spirit .The one inspired by God spiritual gift not their own selves as a unseen gift speaks in a tongue unknow to the hearer. not to the one being inspired (he knew what the words meant when they t left his lips )God does the interpreting so the person can believe God and both can understand the other called having a conversation .

It is a sign of God mocking them who mock the Holy Spirit ….against those who go above all things written in the law and the prophets .

Why go above that which is written as if God was still brining new prophecy as new knowledge? Is God a circus seal that he must perform a sign before one believes?

John 6:30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, "that we may see", and believe thee? what dost thou work?

John 4:48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

What makes you believe that those questions are logical?

Do you believe that love edifies if there is no knowledge? Surely it is not logical to find edification without knowledge.

Christ loved us before we knew Him but we are edified after we come to know Him.

1Jo 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
