See that's what I mean, you don't believe the scripture. In your mine I can't possibly be being taught by the Holy Spirit, and you just read it. If you can't believe that part you may as well not believe any of it. Well, God Bless.
I do believe the scriptures, but I also have teachers and mentors that help challenge me in my faith especially in this crazy world.

For the record I do believe the holy spirit guides, teaches, and protects us....but we do not live on bread alone meaning we do need to study the bible, follow the Holy Spirit as well as be part of a church family which helps us grow. See, I like to think of it this way, when we become saved we are a seed that God has planted in his garden. Reading the bible is the food/fertilizer that provides us with nutrients to grow and kills the disease the enemy tries to bestow upon us, the Holy Spirit prunes us so we become a beautiful flower. Our church family is the water we need to develop strong roots and helps lift us up when a storm comes our way reminding us of Gods promises.

Holding on to traditions. Mark 7:8 8You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions. besides that Nimrod change the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. In honor of the Sun God.
Mk 7v8 describes human traditions which are quite different from spiritually observing GOD's HOLY Day/time. Why are you stating that I hold to traditions ? WHY would JESUS describe the Sabbath as a tradition or man-made invention when HE HIMSELF kept it ? You have to give this a little more thought pj. Negating the Sabbath of the Lord Lev 23v3, is not something He will approve of....it's Holy time to a Holy GOD which HE institutd as a Perpetual covenant for ever ! Ex 31v16,17.
However, in the NT it becomes your own choice if you want to observe it or not.....but there is more teaching on it to be carefully considered for it does not end well for those who make the wrong choice.

I would not quite agree with the 'church-family providing the water and the roots to our growth - it is GOD and the Holy Spirit who do that !!! DON'T let HIM be replaced by fallible humans.

Have you read any of my post. Can you see that I do know the bible. And I do have someone who helped me in my learning. I'm absolutely, positively sure that he is of God.

I'm not saying that. If you actually read what is written we need to have all of it in order to grow

Hebrews 4:9-11 9There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
Hebrews 4:3 3Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, "So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.
Mark 2:23-28 23One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?" 25He answered, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions." 27Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28So the Son of Man is LORD even of the Sabbath."

I don't get none of that.

Maybe? "You", weren't supposed to "get it." ;)

Being this forum is more or less "fairly public", in its "accessibility?" There are people that "drive by", let's call it, in their "surfings", are "seeking", people, who (perhaps) like themselves, have a "certain inner unction, or "drive"", that keeps "propelling" them "onwards, THROUGH the fog!" Of their own particular Spiritual journeyings. In the hopes of "finding some connection." People, who like yourself, and myself, and others, have "ESCAPED" the "butchery" of "the Pharoah's" "abortion clinics", of Moses' day, and King Herod's, of Jesus' day. As well as very many other "incidents", during the passing of this earth/heaven age. Much "akin" to:
1 Peter 1 King James Version (KJV)

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

Verse 6, are the "one's" "we" are looking for! And, yourself as well, as your posts, in this particular thread, as well as other "posters." Not only in this thread, but other threads as well.

It's like a "Roll Call" of sorts. Or, like a "Rallying Call, or point", "shotgun approach, or tactic", for those "surfing by, or lurking", for those whom, like you, have had, and held, or hold a "heaviness of heart", due to the "manifest temptations", we have seen, and been subjected to, in "the church!"
This "heaviness of heart", manifests itself in various ways. Not the least of which, is a very intense, and internal disappointment, of heart wrenching proportions, that CANNOT be "taught!" One either, "has it", or "not!" Like "something" you're "born" with!

I don't know if you have watched "Star Trek TNG", or not, (see?, shotgun appraoach....MAY apply to you? May be more applicable for some one else), but, there's this "certain episode", where the Enterprise crew, (save one) are at war with the Kingon's, when Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg, whom I horribly detest these days. Yet, for this "illustration/explanation", she hit "the nail on the head!), calls up to Picard, and asks: "What's going on?" And when Picard explained to her that they were at war with the Klingon's, she made the remark: "SOMETHING'S NOT RIGHT!"
And, so it is with the one's Peter makes mention of in verse 6. They (perhaps, but, not always) have gone, or were taken to church, sometimes, at a very young age, ie "grown up", in church, and comes a time, when this "internal drive/feeling/unction" begins telling them: "SOMETHING'S, NOT RIGHT!" At this point, they are unsure, concerning just "WHAT" that "SOMTHING" IS! Just "SOMETHING, ISN'T RIGHT!"

I can tell ya this though! One KNOWS when one is on the "right track", when the "prince of this world" starts pulling his "psychologically spiritual manipulations" of employing "creature comforts", in his continuing efforts of keeping his "illusions of peace, when it's actually piece!" Via these creature comforts! Grrrr!

Please stop backpedaling and sidestepping the issue. You stated:
You claim people do not understand you, then post 1 Cor 2:14 as the reason, inferring that people who do not understand you do not have the Spirit. Own what you said.

Also, concerning your phrase "by yourself", the Bible says that God gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ. There are teachers in the body of Christ for a reason. And the Bible encourages us to not forsake gathering together. Playing the Lone Ranger generally doesn't work out too well.

pjharrison makes a "valid" point! As do "you!" But, only "TO", a point! Yes! The Holy Spirit did/DOES "give" unto the "body of Christ", apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ.

Yet, I don't see anywhere, that one who is being taught, by those "apostles", etc., are to REMAIN being "perpetually taught!" Even Paul admonished, and chastised, believers, saying: "Is it "fit" that we should then REMAIN in sin, so that Grace may abound all the more?" GOD FORBID!!

Which "infers?, "STEP UP TO THE PLATE, PEOPLE!" When Christ confesses you before His Father! "GO!" DON'T be like that "whiney bleeding heart servant", who in Matthew 24: 24-26 - Then he which had received the one talent came and said, "Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine."

And RUN, from the churches of Laodicea, where the Spirit says unto the Angel of that Church, in Revelation 3:14-20:
These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

This "Spirit?" Is not Jesus! It IS the "Spirit of GOD!"

So, CEASE in these "feeble attempts" of justifying laziness! As well as you can read? You "see", they fall on deaf ears!

All the rest that you said is right on.
Don't know who "Tour" is, to whom you are referencing.

Revelation 3:1 3 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; etc.......

John, in his introduction to the Revelation, gives a "rundown", of sorts, to this "Holy" "Chain of Command" "Governmental Structure", that is "IN Christ?" And, "Runs Upwards, to the God Head" Through Christ! Revelation 1:4-6
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

In verse 8, If you "listen" carefully, one should be able in one's ascertaining, that EVERONE'S COMING!

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

In verses 13-18: One sees John's describing "The FULL MAJESTY of CHRIST!" Including the "FULL God Head, WITH The Holy Spirit in FULL Display!
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

In verse 8, of Chapter 2? 8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; Here one can "hear" where the Father was interrupted by the Son, although, t'was coming from Jesus' mouth. It's "like", however, "Who's at the microphone?" To the "untrained" ear, it sounds like all words are being spoken by Christ. One has to listen very carefully, to distinguish the differences.

And here in verse 20b-24, Here is Lord God Almighty, who has LONG had this "reigning war" against Jezebel saying: "To teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

And from verse 25 to EOC, It's Jesus speaking again:

25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

28 And I will give him the morning star.

29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

And Jesus continuing in Chapter 3:1-5

3 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

In verses 7&8, one sees the "Open Door", TO the "Governemnt on the Shoulders of Christ!" The "same door" That Solomon, as a child, didn't even know, and was so UNSURE, as to his comings on goings!

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

In verses 9-11, one hears the the Father speaking in, and from the "Gift of the Holy Spirit" (as it is known in these days).

9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

And, in verse 12, is Jesus speaking again:

12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

In verse 14b-15, The Father IN the Son speaks: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

In verses 16-18, is Jesus speaking:

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

In verse 19, is the Father speaking: 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

And from 20 to EOC, is Jesus speaking again:

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

In verse 14b-15, The Father IN the Son speaks: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Tour was a typo that I forgot to erase. I was asking about that quote that you said. That what I didn't understand, because Jesus and God are one in the same.

Could you explain, This Spirit is not Jesus, it's God. That's where you lost me.
I realize that you are discussing a specific passage, but what is your view on Acts 16:6-7?

Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.

God didn't want them there, either for their protection, or either he didn't want them to waste their time with those people because their preaching would have fallen on deaf ears.
Is that what you want to know are do you want to know how the Holy Spirit kept them from entering the cities?

Sorry, I should have addressed my question to NayborBear. I was looking at the statement, "This Spirit is not Jesus, it's God" which you quoted. I didn't notice at first that you were quoting.

This "Spirit?" Is not Jesus! It IS the "Spirit of GOD!"

Why don't you start a conversation with him. I asked him a question and he didn't answer. So you will have a better chance starting a conversation with him. Sorry for butting in, but I think you'll have a better chance.

I'll give him a day or two to respond. I'm in no hurry. :)
