Silver just hit $15 an ounce, any precious metals buyers here?
Gold just dropped below $1200 for the first time in a long time

Gold is worth 2-3x its value right now, just because it dropped does not make it a bargain
That being said, if you take pennies, even modern ones, melt them down and extract the metal, you just made a 3x profit....

Thanks for the heads up.... I used to watch the spot price of silver, but lately have not.

Good time to buy some... I don't plan to make a killing on it, just a hedge against TEOTWAWKI.....

It's only a $10,000 dollar fine, so technically there is a lot of money to be made..... Double jeopardy is a thing so yeah :censored:;)

I think gold is dead. It used to be a safehaven for when the market tanks but it hasn't been going up during downturns. I think a lot of investors stopped using it as a safehaven after it got over $1000 an ounce.

Silver... ah yes I did own some silver back in the early 2000's but wasn't smart enough to hold onto it. :( I got tired of people saying it was due to breakout while it remained flatter than a lake on a cold winter morning. I guess it could be a good investment now at $15. I don't really know what pushed it to almost $50 around 2010, but I guess it could happen again.

we know fiat currencies all have failed and we know how tenous the worlds currencies are now, especially the dollar, Greece and Turkey now have taken huge hits.
Still, the safest place for anyone is in Christ, and He may well lead some to preserve His substance that they hold for a coming time of trouble. After the rapture those left behind will need resources, and we know there will be saints of the tribulation.

Yes, we are certainly in a strange time right now. The emerging markets are no longer emerging, we have growing economic uncertainty in the EU, which may be on the verge of economic collapse, oil prices are no longer completely manipulated by OPEC (now that the US is a major oil producer), and the US economy seems to be having one of its strongest growth periods ever and interest rates are still low.

I vote for this one because when crap hits the fan...........destruction of a nation tends to change one's perspective of gold and silver.....

How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! street.

Yes... those two metals are good to have... I have quite a bit of them already.... in various iterations....;)

I also have all the necessary items to convert plumber's lead or wheelweights into more, um, useful shapes.

Haha... I hear wheel weights have the perfect amount of tin for bullet casting. ;)

I believe it may be antimony in wheel weights, not sure, but we know it isn't pure lead.
We also know we have fiat currencies, and they always fail, look at how the fed. monetized the debt, that is usually the last straw.

Yes, wheel weights have a percentage of tin, and antimony. The tin helps it flow well, and fill out a mold, and the antimony allows the bullets to be tempered, or hardened, which makes them excellent for heavy handgun loads, and even lower level rifle loads.

The big problem with them is that some of the newer weights have zinc in them, which really ruins the metal for casting. You have to be careful about the weights you smelt, to keep the zinc out of your mix.
