No. See post #113 where Penn Ed said
"I don't care if you trot out Mother Teresa, Billy Graham, Pope Francis, Ghandi, Maharesh Yogi, Martin Luther, John Calvin, your priest, your Mom and Dad, or ANYBODY else living or dead, they will die in their sin if they have not received Jesus Christ through the ONE GOSPEL! "

I merely responded to please leave my parents out of it. And I still do. I have no idea why Penn mentioned my parents along with several other people in he first place, but he did. I have no concerns about their spiritual well being .
Please leave the issue alone. thank you.
Fine with me but if God is dialing your number you had better pick up the phone.

Many years ago I heard an evangelist, back when men of God did not fear proclaiming the word of God, say that God will call you once then God will call you twice then God will call the third time. After that if you have not responded God will burn your barley fields. God is patient and long suffering but God does not strive with man forever.

Do not blame those who show from the scriptures that you must be saved in accordance with the scriptures. The Holy Spirit is the One giving life to the words not the mere mortal man speaking them.

So what's your point?

People can't be great unless they are religious?

People can't be fair? do justice? be right? honorable? trustworthy? do great things? be a hero?Unless they are Christians?
-------[/QUOT
Some people are obsessed with the souls of others when they would do far better to tend to their own. I agre fee with yu abcdef, but no one else will. You have to be an evangelical brand of christian too . dont cha know? Peddling fear of God only works for children and I think it is the wrong tactic.
PS: John McCain WAS a strong Christian. Maybe not their "brand". :).

I can’t be sure about this, I’m no psychologist or psychiatrist, neither am I well versed in Christianity, but maybe our relationship with God is a reflection of our upbringing?

Those of us who are been on a short leash will tend to see God as a strict old man, and those who haven’t will not.

Of course, these are horrendous simplifications, and just some stuff I’ve heard here and there, then added some of my own thoughts.

Why would we expect that anything less than our best should be acceptable to our heavenly Father? We must be disciples and we must study and learn Gods word to be disciples.

God our Father is longsuffering and it is His goodness that leads us to repentance. God will chastise us to bring us to a closer relationship with Him.

Why do some only wish to go part way with God? Why is just having a hope of heaven sufficient for some? Why not seek all heaven has to offer? What in this world is so good that one would sacrifice any of the joys of heaven to attain it?

The pleasures of sin are but for a season but the joys of heaven are eternal.

I’m not sure that I understand this. Could you please elaborate?

John McCain is dead, and only God knows what the condition of his heart was. If he was truly a saved Christian man, he's in the portals of glory at this very moment. If he was not, then he is screaming from the pits of hell this very moment. I have heard way too many conflicting reports about the man, from where yes he chose to remain in prison, but as a klutz, caused the fire on board the USS Forrestal.....I've also heard this man was a traitor on different levels....in old times, he would have been stood up against a wall and executed for that treason....and just the fact that the family chose who could or could not come (invite) to a funeral is just arrogant and stupid, who does that? It's not a wedding, IT'S A FUNERAL!! Even if me and my biggest enemy never settled an argument or sought peace, I'd still pay my respects to him if he passed, regardless of any disputes or differences between us. The fruits tell me all I need to know.

John McCain was not perfect, but he was a hero. (trump would have lasted 5 minutes as a POW. He'd be singing our secrets and he definetly would have taken the NoViet's offer to leave before his men. McCain didn't.)

I like that he didn't tow the party line. He did what he thought was best for his state and his country. While I think he did vote agains repealing Obamacare to get back at trump...Oh well, as I said no one is perfect. Maybe if trump hadn't been such am a** to him, McCain might not have given trump the finger when he voted against repeal.

All in all, I am glad he was a senator as long as he was. Most don't deserve to be in longer than 2 terms. He did.

BTW - a conservative, humble, Godly, well educated 65 year old pastor of mine called trump an a** (to me in confidence), so I am going with it!!

Intersting view considering he accomplished absolutely nothing as a Senator, hence why no one could proclaim he did anything! And when he could have done something meaningful for we the people he chose himself instead! Typical of him! A hero? Well I served two tours in Vietnam myself, and know many real people who I would consider a hero, not John the Coward McCain! he cost 25 lives from talking to the enemy! Wonder if you knew that?? You will also notice that there were no Veterans, speaking on his behalf either! He was a jerk to most who worked with him, and for him,I met him once here in Michigan I saw, and I sure know! He was highly emotional, and had very little self control, ask Sarah Palin who also was not invited to his passing, and the money they wasted on him could sure have been much better spent else where!! And last, but sure not least he betrayed himself, he betrayed us the people,he betrayed the President, and he betrayed us Veterans, whom he did NOTHING FOR! He became what he looked to hide, making promises he never intended to keep. The dems are sad, many are sure not! His death is not sad, but rather comforting to many of us! He was dead being alive, there was no difference to me! President Trump was called what you said because unlike many in Congress he speak his mind. LOL He has done more in a year and a half then McCain did in a lifetime!

I think we should honor a man making such sacrifices for his country and family.

It’s disheartening reading all the fake and cowardly attacking going on here.

Thanks for your service, Mr McCain.

While I agree that John McCain III served this country in Vietnam the important thing is his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All his years of service whether they are good or bad mean nothing if he is lost and cast into hell. There is no nobility in the final judgement for the lost. A lowly soul with little to no education and poor as dirt has a far better inheritance in heaven with Christ than the high and noble lost soul.

All our glory hungry politicians need to know without Christ will perish for eternity while simple folks who go to Walmart on Saturday and church on Sunday have an eternal inheritance far greater than can even be imagined.

No seed!! I met him once! Religion has nothing to do with human decency and he had none, neither as a believer or a non believer, which by his own life he sure showed! Because he served he thought everyone should kiss his you know what! He was a VERY selfish, self centered individual!! That is why no Veteran spoke at his sorry waste of money for tax payers funeral!
