1PETER 1:3.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy
has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,...
The resurrection is a part of the gospel, which includes the cross . . .

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (I Corinthians 15:1-4).

What did Jesus say about the Cross?

DISCIPLESHIP

25 And there went great multitudes with Him (proclaims Him having left the home of this Pharisee, and now continuing His journey toward Jerusalem): and He turned, and said unto them (He was anxious now, at the end, clearly to make it known to all these multitudes what serving Him really signified),

26 If any man come to Me (no exceptions), and hate (prefer) not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also (no affection, however strong, must be permitted to compete with or displace Christ), he cannot be My Disciple (once again, no exceptions!).”

“27 And whosoever does not bear his Cross (this doesn’t speak of suffering as most think, but rather ever making the Cross of Christ the Object of our Faith; we are Saved and we are victorious not by suffering, although that sometimes will happen, or any other similar things, but rather by our Faith, but always with the Cross of Christ as the Object of that Faith), and come after Me (one can follow Christ only by Faith in what He has done for us at the Cross; He recognizes nothing else), cannot be My Disciple (the statement is emphatic!; if it’s not Faith in the Cross of Christ, then it’s faith that God will not recognize, which means that such people are refused [I Cor. 1:17-18, 21, 23; 2:2; Rom. 6:3-14; 8:1-2, 11, 13; Gal. 6:14; Eph. 2:13-18; Col. 2:14-15]).” Luke 14:25-27)

No; Jesus said this:

25 And there went great multitudes with Him: and He turned, and said unto them,

26 If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”

27 And whosoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:25-27)

However, Jesus was not talking about the cross on which He was crucified.

Neither the crucifixion nor the resurrection are in question.

we all who Love and adore our Saviour should be putting our Love for Him upon
His RESURRECTION...

put those dead crosses in the grave where they belong...
Yes the cross atoned for our sins to a righteous GOD and the resurrection proved that HE IS the TRUTH and the WAY and the LIFE.

Death Is the one thing no one believes can be overcame but JESUS overcame death.
amen.

What does Brother Paul mean when he says, "...we preach Christ Crucified,..." (1 Cor. 1:23)?
More to the story

"Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength."

I think its importamt to look at verses before and after as well..

I think he was talking of believers in the faith..

uh, the crucifixion and the cross are one. You still haven't shown us how the cross is a fulfillment of a specific prophecy. HINT: Genesis 3:15.
Irrelevant. MoTC continually posts quotes which idolize "the Cross" and put it above Jesus Christ Himself.

When MOTC constantly mentions the cross In many of his post, sometimes I feel that I’m missing something and It starts sounding mysterious and then when he explains what he means,I think didn’t we all know that already?

agreed, we should 'always' check-out the over-all context' as well as what is -before and after
the scripture in question - we, hub and me, call it 'the sandwich principle', because it is
so good to eat, and every time we 'eat', we learn' something...

Christ is the same word in Hebrew as what applies as Messiah. This was Paul's mission to Europe and the start of his forming a church in Corinth. Some Jews there rejected Messiah crucified. It was Paul's intention in the full chapter to bring the Jews that disagreed with the crucifixion of Messiah together with those who accepted the truth. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+1&version=CJB

The cross did not atone . . . but it was the method. The word 'cross' however, incorporates the whole

I don't agree with his constant reference to Jimmy Swaggart but, in my opinion, he is going out of his way to ensure the the central theme of his message is the cross - which I do agree with. Now, I hope that with his zeal he knows that his eternal destiny is sure by the FINISHED work of Jesus Christ upon that cross. That is, I hope he doesn't share Mr. Swaggart's view that God does His part and we must do our part leading to a works-based plan of salvation.

Yet, Paul does tell us that he chooses to know nothing else . . .

"For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified" (I Corinthians 2:2).

I think that a few of you are going to seed worrying about MoTC's emphasis on the cross and should find some other hobby horse to ride. You done rode this one to death!

I think he was talking of believers in the faith..
“17 For Christ sent me not to baptize (presents to us a Cardinal Truth), but to preach the Gospel (the manner in which one may be Saved from sin): not with wisdom of words (intellectualism is not the Gospel), lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect. (This tells us in no uncertain terms that the Cross of Christ must always be the emphasis of the Message.)

“18 For the preaching (Message) of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness (Spiritual things cannot be discerned by unredeemed people, but that doesn’t matter; the Cross must be preached just the same, even as we shall see); but unto us who are Saved it is the Power of God. (The Cross is the Power of God simply because it was there that the total sin debt was paid, giving the Holy Spirit, in Whom the Power resides, latitude to work mightily within our lives.)

19 For it is written (Isa. 29:14), I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent (speaks to those who are wise in their own eyes, in effect, having forsaken the Ways of the Lord).”

“20 Where is the wise? (This presents the first of three classes of learned people who lived in that day.) where is the Scribe? (This pertained to the Jewish Theologians of that day.) where is the disputer of this world? (This speaks of the Greeks, who were seekers of mystical and metaphysical interpretations.) has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (This pertains to what God did in sending His Son to Redeem humanity, which He did by the Cross. All the wisdom of the world couldn’t do this!)

21 For after that in the Wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God (man’s puny wisdom, even the best he has to offer, cannot come to know God in any manner), it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching (preaching the Cross) to save them who believe. (Paul is not dealing with the art of preaching here, but with what is preached.)

“22 For the Jews require a sign (the sign of the Messiah taking the Throne and making Israel a great Nation once again), and the Greeks seek after wisdom (they thought that such solved the human problem; however, if it did, why were they ever seeking after more wisdom?):

23 But we preach Christ Crucified (this is the Foundation of the Word of God and, thereby, of Salvation), unto the Jews a stumblingblock (the Cross was the stumblingblock), and unto the Greeks foolishness (both found it difficult to accept as God a dead Man hanging on a Cross, for such Christ was to them);”

“24 But unto them which are called (refers to those who accept the Call, for the entirety of mankind is invited [Jn. 3:16; Rev. 22:17]), both Jews and Greeks (actually stands for both “Jews and Gentiles”), Christ the Power of God (what He did at the Cross Atoned for all sin, thereby, making it possible for the Holy Spirit to exhibit His Power within our lives), and the Wisdom of God. (This Wisdom devised a Plan of Salvation which pardoned guilty men and at the same time vindicated and glorified the Justice of God, which stands out as the wisest and most remarkable Plan of all time.)

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men (God achieves the mightiest ends by the humblest means); and the weakness of God is stronger than men (refers to that which men take to be weak, but actually is not — the Cross).”

“26 For you see your calling, Brethren (refers to the nature and method of their Heavenly Calling), how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are Called (are Called and accept):

27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise (the Preaching of the Cross confounds the wise because it falls out to changed lives, which nothing man has can do); and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty (the Cross is looked at as weakness, but it brings about great strength and power, regarding those who accept the Finished Work of Christ);”

“28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen (it is God working in the base things and the despised things which brings about miraculous things), yes, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are (God can use that which is nothing within itself, but with Him all things become possible):

29 That no flesh (human effort) should glory in His Presence.

30 But of Him are you in Christ Jesus (pertains to this great Plan of God which is far beyond all wisdom of the world; we are “in Christ Jesus,” by virtue of the Cross — what He did there), Who of God is made unto us Wisdom, and Righteousness, and Sanctification, and Redemption (we have all of this by the Holy Spirit, through Christ and what He did at the Cross; this means the Cross must ever be the Object of our Faith):”

“31 That, according as it is written (Jer. 9:23), he who glories, let him glory in the Lord. (He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord, and not in particular Preachers.)

Never heard Brother Swaggart or his Pastors ever preach a work base salvation. He teaches that anything and everything that is not produced and birth by the Holy Spirit is wood, hay, and stubble from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In other words it is the work of the flesh. If it is of the flesh the bush will be consumed. If it of the Spirit the bush will not be consumed. Exodus 3:2-3
