"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (I Corinthians 2:14).

So many highly educated Bible scholars are just plain stupid when it comes to the Bible. They see designations, such as 'natural man' and make the assumption that this is just any old, run-of-the-mill lost person and then build their entire theory of election around their chosen interpretation. They simply 'elect' to be wrong.

What is a natural man?

The natural man is shown to us in Romans 1 . . .

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen" (Romans 1:18-25).

The natural man is herein described as the man that chooses Nature over the truth of God. The natural man is one that has suppressed the truth to the degree that he has already rejected the supernatural and has preferred the natural elements over the spiritual.

The natural man is he that professes himself to be wise, but in his foolishness has traded the uncorruptible God into corruptible images. He worships man, birds, beasts and things.

The natural man is he whom God has rejected . . . given up on him . . . and allowed to go his own way on his self-made path to destruction.

Folks, don't let these geniuses twist Scripture to the degree that you allow them to convince you of error over God's revealed truth . . . EVEN IF THEY START QUOTING THE GREEK . . .

All the unsaved are "natural men". All those who are devoid of the Holy Spirit are "natural men".

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Cor 2:14).

When a person (having been born again) has the indwelling Holy Spirit, he is led into all truth, because he has the anointing or unction of the Holy Spirit. Which means that God teaches him spiritual things.

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things... But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (1 John 2:20,27)

But God has certainly not given up on everyone, and He has not allowed everyone to go their own way. That is exactly why we have th Gospel, which is to be preached to every creature.

Even those who resist the truth and resist the Holy Spirit are given multiple opportunities to repent.

I just posted this over in the Does God love all mankind thread:

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The word "natural" in 1 Cor 2:14 is the Greek word psyxikós and it describes the natural ("lower") aspect of humanity, i.e. behavior that is "more of earth (carnality) than heaven."

Paul equates the believer who is "carnal" with the natural man.

As we see in 1 Cor 1:10-11, the believers in Corinth were contentious. In 1 Cor 3:3-4, Paul tells us the believers were "carnal".

We see the same thing going on today because believers do not follow the Lord Jesus Christ. They follow men and doctrines of men. As a result, we see those who claim to be Christians behaving no differently than unbelievers.

Believers who do not follow the Lord Jesus Christ will remain immature and will not understand / comprehend spiritual matters.

I prefer understanding a passage in its context.

Who are these people you speak of, hang on, I'm trying to remember the content of your post... Sound's like your talking about people like me, who've just gone their own way, given their lives to the fleshy thing's. Do you think all these judgmentally aimed posts at the world does any good?

No need to quote the Greek; I can see that "natural man" doesn't appear in English in this passage either.

If you want to argue a point, it's good to ensure that the Scripture clearly supports the point you're arguing. Your connection of "natural man" with the Romans 1 description is tenuous.

Romans 1 describes the one that worships the creature rather than the creator- creatures are created, the world was created... what do you worship with your worldly music?

Surely you missed my point, accusing me of worshipping worldly music is arrogant and rude/ugly to say. I'm alittle disappointed in your actions.
