Matthew Chapter 21

41 They say unto him,
He will miserably destroy those wicked men,
and will let out [his] vineyard unto other husbandmen,
which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures,
The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner:
this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you,
and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

So tell us...

What nation had the Kingdom of God
taken from them and what Nation was it given too...
as according to the written and spoken Word of Jesus the Christ
the Son of the Living God?

It is my considered belief, determination, and understanding that all who have ever believed are Israel, even before the earthly Israel brought on by the Joshua son of Nun.

It may be splitting hairs but it is, to me, slightly a different color horse than the New Jerusalem….I thought I would toss that in..if you want, comment, if not it is not so important that I becorrect about it.

Well, for starters, I look at the phrase "will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen," and I see that Isaiah 5:7a says,

"For the vineyard of the LORD of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the plant of His delight."

...and that Luke 13:6 states,

"He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted IN his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none."

… showing us that the "a fig tree" is something distinct from the "vineyard" itself (but associated with it, as the "fig tree" is planted "IN his vineyard" [which was "the house of Israel," as we saw in Isa5:7a).

I realize that doesn't quite answer your question, but perhaps it is something to consider along with this...

Israel as a God rejecting nation had the Kingdom of God taken from them.

The Kingdom now was in mystery form and would be composed of the nation of believers known as the Church, but would also have in it much that is evil. See (Matt. 13) Especially the parables of the tares, (24-30) (36-43) mustard seed, (31-32), and leaven, (33-34).

The Kingdom will return to Israel in the future and will be again a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

The kingdom was taken from the Pharisees, and given to the true israel. Those who follow Jesus, like His disciples.

It was "taken", by God Himself, FROM the nation of Israel/Judah!

And, GIVEN unto, the gentiles! Until the fulness thereof! Or, in "their season."

It was given to a new nation known as the church made up of believing Jews and Gentiles. The church is referred to as a nation in 1Pter 2:9.

(Mat 21:43 KJV) Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

There is no where Christ says the "Jews" will be given the kingdom back.

It does not say "The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof then given back to you 2000 years later.

You people need to stop inventing myths.

Israel may be translated as ruling with God……..this is the Israel of all who have believed, do believe and will believe.

Jew, from Judah or Yahudah, is another name which means something other than the name of the one of twelve tribes of Israel.

You and I are the Israel of God forever, and we also are by translation Jews for we are indeed praisers of God, are we not?

If this is not seen in the Word it is only because it has not been revealed or it is not taken to heart.

Praise God for salvation in His Only Begoten SÇon, amen.

Acts 1:6-7 comes close:

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Yes, I was also thinking of Acts 1:6. You beat me to it. :D

Here is an excerpt from an article by Paul Martin Henebury, pointing out something similar:

[quoting from "40 Reasons for Not Reinterpreting the OT by the NT" (key word "reinterpreting")]

"33. It [that is, 'reinterpreting'] ignores the life-setting of the disciples’ question in Acts 1:6 in the context of their already having had forty days teaching about the very thing they asked about (“the kingdom” – see Acts 1:3). This [that is, 'reinterpreting'] reflects badly on the clarity of the Risen Lord’s teaching about the kingdom. But the tenacity with which these disciples still clung to literal fulfillments would also prove the validity of #’s 23, 26, 27, 28 & 32 above.

"34. This resistance to the clear expectation of the disciples also ignores the question of the disciples, which was about the timing of the restoration of the kingdom to Israel, not its nature."

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

I don't think this Acts 1:6-7 has anything to do with the kingdom being taken away from the Jews in regards to Mat 21:43.

Jesus was speaking to Jews/Judah, the other ten tribes of Israel were at that time cut off from the kingdom. So Peter is asking if the cut off tribes would be restored to the kingdom.

That said, the kingdom that they would be restored to is not the physcial kingdom but the spiritual kingdom and temple.

We know that the tribes were being gathered/restored into the kingdom as both Peter and James writes to them:

James 1:1 James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.

The above is the gathering of the tribes under one stick:

A comparison between Ezekiel and Corinthians shows that Paul is virtually repeating the prophets words and applying them to the his time and his ministry:

Ezekiel 37:26-27 I will make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will set them in their land and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

2 Cor 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

What is significant about Paul's use of Ezekiel here is prior to the above is the regathering of Israel under on stick - bringing the tribes together as one:

Ezek 37:16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:

Ezek 37:17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

Now if what Paul is stating from Ezekiel's prophecy is happening in the 1st century AD "they shall be my people" then it must follow that the previous actions were already under way "I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen".

Ezek 37:21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

^ The problem with that idea is what is given in Luke 21:12-24a (which portion of the Olivet Discourse covers the events surrounding 70ad); note v.24a (and 24b parallels Rev11:2, concluding at His Second Coming to the earth, future [Rev19]):

Luke 21 - [BEFORE "the beginning of birth PANGS [plural]" events (just described in vv.8-11 [and parallel to the Rev6 SEALS]), BEFORE THAT, these 70ad events must occur]

12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. [pt b parallels Rev11:2, far future (from that 70ad events)]

Okay, Locutus, what do you believe the following portion refers to (since you disagree with what I've suggested):

22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all the nations […]

[Ezekiel 39:7 "so shall I make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel..." (in this way, the context)]

And here's what Jesus had said "to Jerusalem" (the city) on Palm Sunday/Nisan 10 (just days before His death) :

Luke 19:41-44 -

41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round [see Lk21:20, as I mentioned], and keep thee in on every side,

44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

So tell us... What nation had the Kingdom of God taken from them and what Nation was it given too...
The nation of Israel should have altogether been in the Kingdom of God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ -- Yeshua ha Maschiach. However, because of their unbelief, the *nation* to whom the Kingdom was given is the Church -- the Body of Christ.

While it is called "a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof" it is actually comprised of saints from every nation, tongue, and tribe.

John 10:16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold:
them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice;
and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
