Canada is a nice country too.I would like to reside in US, but I do not.
yes Alexis de Tocqueville .... I remember writing a paper on him many moons ago. If I remember correctly he believed that France failed in its revolutionary efforts whereas the United States did indeed succeed in creating a democratic state.
The United States is based on strength and power.
How many times have I heard that before.

Florida has early voting and I already mailed in my ballot so I am very much involved in the political process. You live in a fantasy world.
This is a section concerning politics. If you don't want to get involved, then stay out.
The thread is not pointless. I am addressing real situations. Your 'united we stand and divided we fall' statement may be true. But that just means we are going to fall. This is something you are refusing to acknowledge. We are divided. A euphoric pipe dream doesn't make us all of a sudden 'united'.

Goodbye only means our discussion is going nowhere, but there is always hope on a different day...maybe.. hehe
No it's not. It has strength and power. But it was not based on strength and power. Every nation can be said to be based on strength and power.
Quantrill
Why 'nowhere'. Because you did not prove your side? I felt like it was going somewhere.
No matter.

The United States of America will absolutely fall, sooner rather than later.
I don't have no pipe dreams either as I don't give this unity stuff any serious thought whatsoever but am merely responding to your OP.
What is the point of a state seceding from the union if the residents themselves are divided? Really, I don't understand what you mean by secession being the only hope for the US because if this was actually implemented there would now be 50 divisive states instead of one divisive country. Your proposal is not practical and will never be implanted.
The only thing that you are addressing is your inflated ego while treating those that disagree with you with contempt and disdain. This is not very unifying in my opinion.
Every nation can be based on strength and power but very few have the capability to back it up with an overwhelming unified military force.
Your response to those that don't agree with you or understand what you are proposing are condescending and mean-spirited. It does say in the bible that even though we live in the world we should not conform to the world. Perhaps that is applicable in some sense to what you have proposed. Anyway, I don't believe you to be a bad person, find you to be interesting and I enjoy reading your posts. What's your take on the Federal Reserve System? If you read the OP, then you noted where I stated some 'sort of secession'. I was not suggesting a secession as occurred in 1861. Though that may well occur again. If you read on you will see I suggested a form of secesson where the States get back much of their power and the Fed. Govt has less power over the States. Everyone remains in the Union. The Fed govt. controls certain areas but the States have more control over the way they want to live. If you read several pages you will see what I am saying.
Thus your statements of this being impractical don't apply since you have't understood or read what I have said. And your statements of my having an inflated ego make no sense. I have tried to remain civil throughout. I respond in kind. If it doesn't unify, then I am not interested in unifying with you.
Quantrill
No, because you never elaborate on your position with additional information or evidence to support what you state.
Give me the name of one reputable historian/political scientist who supports your claim that democracy and republic are mutually exclusive political systems.

Is it pertinent that I complemented you to be an interesting person and enjoy your posts? Probably not.I respond in kind. Is that pertinent to this topic?

OK, let's just agree to disagree and move on to another topic.Let's see. Long before your 'complements' you address me as one with an inflated ego, (#405), was condescending and mean spirited, (#411).
So, right, probably not.

I'm sorry, I thought the title of the thread was Secession offers no hope for peace in the US. My bad, per usual. My dyslexia must of kicked in.Well, the topic here is 'Secession is the only hope for peace in the US'.

I still don't understand your position as it was not articulated clearly and the solution offered was a pipe dream. My work is done now in this thread. It's been a slice but now it's time for me to be moving forward once again. No, just your Adamic sinful nature. "I dont understand what you mean by secession being the only hope for the US..." Your words post (#405).
