The world's first civilization - Sumer suddenly invented and applied a myriad of engineering, mathematical and
cultural firsts; like an alphabet and writing, buildings, irrigation, astronomy, government and administration.
This occurred at the time of Adam, and the departure of Cain to Nod where he and others built a city.
The Sumerians wrote of the Annunaki or sky people who directly gave them this knowledge.
It may well have been angels from God (references to such in Genesis) and then later no doubt Satan and his gang
also appeared to humans and gave false religion and deceiving knowledge to mess civilization up and oppose God's
purpose.
Nimrod and worship of false gods; which still continues until this very day.

Though his detractors abounded during his life and writing career, if you are of a mind search out the writings on this by Zecharia Sitchin. "The 12th Planet", is a real page turner.
Also, "The God's of Eden" , speaks of the Anunnaki, the Nephilim, which is a word used in the old testament, and sources Sitchin's work as well. That book is written by William Bramley.
There's another book I have but haven't yet gotten to that sources the research of both men. "Slave Species of God" by Michael Tellinger .
All three authors use archaeology and Cuneiform tablets translations to support their contention that these were ancient astronauts. And in the case of Sitchin's research, the Sumerian culture appears to attribute human creation through genetic engineering to the Anunnaki. Which if I recall, translates to, "those who from heaven to earth came". Great reading though in my opinion .
