The Catholic Church teaches a lot of deception. Jesus created everything that is, and was there before the beginning of time as we know it. If you think Jesus only exists or existed as a human being constrained to a specific time of history, then you can say something existed before He did, but, no, there is nothing that preceded the self existent eternal One. Plus, you reek of your pride :cool:

Yes, and the "One" is different around the world. There is a creation story for every culture. Different names, similar events, same idea. Have you watched the documentary Zeitgeist? I recommend it. Eye opening. I reek of pride? lol Thanks! :) You wear your cross with pride, and I wear my Mjolnir with pride.

I do not "wear" a cross. Zeitgeist is full of deception and error. Do some research ;)

Well, a lot of Christians wear a cross. Most I know. Which is fine. Zeitgeist may have some factual errors, but what's true is that every religion and culture has their own creation story. You've chosen the Christian one. Someone else may choose the Norse one. Doesn't make yours any more valid than theirs.

But you think your views are more valid than ours, or you would not be here arguing against Christian beliefs. However, you are blind to this. If you want to pretend that everything people believe can all be true at the same time, then you again show how deceived you are. This is something people who want to pretend are "tolerant" are intolerant of. Jesus Christ is the Truth. Nobody comes to the Father but by Him. I prefer the truth to lies. I was for the majority of my life as dead set against it as you are. I understand you have many reasons and excuses to give for rejecting the Truth of Jesus Christ. There is also a Biblical reason. Do you pray? Do you pray to the One true God? Do you believe there is one true God, or is it all just nice stories people tell to comfort themselves, and you get to pick and choose which ones suit you best?

Nope. I never said that. I said that the Christian creation story isn't any more valid than the Hindu one, the Norse one, Egyptian, etc... There are many pathways to GOD, you've just chosen the one that works best for you and resonates in your heart. Let others do the same. You said "Do you believe there is one true God, or is it all just nice stories people tell to comfort themselves, and you get to pick and choose which ones suit you best?"...I could ask the same of you. Do you see where we're at a stalemate here? lol

If you start examining different religions, you will find that the beliefs are simply incompatible. That means, logically, that some must be false.

How am I stopping anyone from doing what they want? Here you are, you said you were done talking to me, and many posts later we continue. The one that works best for me is not something I chose in the way you seem to be presenting it. God chose me. He revealed Himself to me a number of times in a number of different ways over a period of many years. I did not want that God. I was looking for something else! I was attempting to define God in ways that were acceptable to me instead of defining myself in ways that were acceptable to Him. Did I eventually surrender to the Truth of what had been shown to me? Yes, I did. Where are you going to go from being shown the Truth? Back into deception? All these other people who are choosing some other god... do they have personal relationships with those gods? Or are they just traditions of men as you have suggested you are following?

The Creation stories are all so similar. More similar, than different. And unless God him/herself appears to me and tells me which one is the "right" one, I'll stick to what feels right in my heart. And so should you. We were gifted with free-will for a reason.

No, I do not see it as you do, that should be obvious to you by now, and, you did not answer the questions. Do you pray? Do you pray to the One true God? Do you believe there is a One True God? If there is a One True God, is He not the One people should be seeking? For all others would be but paltry imitators at best, and wicked deceivers bent on deception and ultimate destruction at worst.

If you're familiar with Paganism, then you'll know that yes, people have very personal relationships with other Gods and Goddesses in their own way. That's very personal, and not something I can fully explain to you here. There are different paths, but ultimately, they all lead to the same place. Of course those paths will be different depending on culture and geographical area. You explained a bit of your own journey above, and just like you, everyone is walking their own life journey. It's great that you've found what feels right to you, and I've not once told you it's wrong. You, on the other hand, have said that people can't possibly have a personal relationship with God, unless it's through Jesus.

As I noted in my response to you in the Bible Discussion Forum thread, what is written in the Old Testament is not the set of "laws" that Christians are to follow. As for this specific verse, I'm not familiar with it, but if you can locate it I'll be happy to discuss it with you. You can use BibleGateway.com to search using key words. Honestly though, it sounds more like something from the Koran.

  • Ephesians 5:22-24 ...wives should submit to their husbands etc.
  • 1 Timothy 2:11-15 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent etc.
  • 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 ...women should remain silent in the churches (and following).
  • 1 Corinthians 11:3-16 Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man (and following).
  • Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
  • Peter 3:1-6 Wives in the same way be submissive to your husbands (and following).
  • Titus 2: 4-5 Then they can the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands so that no one will malign the word of God.
Oh and this one is just lovely:

"God smites women, children and often animals with equal gusto, he seems to equal evil and wrong doing by association, rather than by being guilty of the personal, individual act: "Behold with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods: And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day." (II Chronicles 21:14-15)

Jesus is God. Hey, if you understand ANY thing about Christianity, you should know that. Relationship with God = relationship with Jesus. You have told us in many ways how wrong you think Christians are. It is certainly not hidden from me.

And what if I believe God is Odin? What if I believe there are multiple Gods as the Hindus believe? What if I told you God has a consort and there is a Goddess as well? Would you tell me I'm wrong? If so, then you are being closed minded to other beliefs. I've not ONCE told you that believing Jesus is God, is wrong. Not once.

To tell a Christian there are others ways to God (aside from Jesus Christ) is to tell a Christian that what they believe is wrong.

Yes, and now that I'm here, I'm reminded as to what turned me completely off of Christianity and Catholicism in the first place. It's funny, because for someone who is supposed to spread the word of God and lead people to "the One", you sure aren't convincing me. Quite the opposite. As I stated before, it's attitudes like yours that keep people from learning more and feeling welcome.
