is this thread, feminine or masculine? if "neutral", then "neutral" does exist
and neutral is possible without any connotation of feminine or masculine
Not in french. In the french language everything is masculine or feminine. That's what Calvin was concerned about in school.

https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1994/02/23

Transcript: (Calvin at his desk in a school classroom)
Why aren't you teaching us the gender of nouns? Is "desk" masculine? Is "chair" feminine? Foreign kids know, but WE don't! No wonder we can't compete in a global market! I demand sex education!

...I wonder if her (teacher's) doctor knows she mixes all those medications.

Sorry, folks.

But even I've done given up on this one (the thread).

I'm pretty sure that the only thing that keeps a conversation going in the forums these days is controversy.

All I know is it seems to be really important to God that people be able to tell at a glance whether you are a guy or girl. The Bible talks a lot about what pertains to a man or woman, and effeminate men are not regarded highly. (Though the Bible never says anything about butch women... guess that wasn't a problem back then.) But yeah, God seems to care a lot that you look and act like what you are.
I totally disagree with that Lynx. my Grandmother and grand father ran a 1000 acre ranch. My grandmother fixed breakfast in the morning for us , plowed the fields. fed the cattle. came home, fixed lunch for us when we finished our chores. and cooked dinner for us after our long evening.I, Honest to God don't think that God Cared what my grandmother "looked like"... She was the strongest , most beautiful person I've ever known...

Telling someone they are going to hell isn't exactly the greatest approach.

Jesus told people they were going to hell.

Before debating the contents of a book, it's best to read the book.

I think this might be more about roles... the role of the woman vs. the role of the man... God said the role of the man is to rule over the woman. ;)

To the woman he said, "I will make your pains in childbearing very severe... and he will rule over you."
(Genesis 3:16 NIV)

Don't look at me, I didn't say it. :sneaky:

Apparently, to be "masculine" in 2018 is to disregard God and your career ... but instead to take on the feminine gender role that God assigned to women to "pursue" sex and relationships.

The masculine men of old who understands that their proper Biblical role to allow women to come to them are no longer strong; we are "weak". We need to "man up". We need "confidence".

Femininity no longer means showing a man that you are interested and trying to win his affection like Ruth, Rebekah, and Rachael did. It now means to be passive in romance, to view love as a "transaction"; to deny their sexuality, but condemning men for "failing" to convince them to give in to it.

Other terms have been re-defined too. "Traditional" no longer means to be a helper to a husband. It now means that he "provides", she gives nothing in return. And if he cannot keep up with a democrat economy to "provide" her the luxuries she craves, then he is "afraid to work hard'.

"Confidence" now means: for a male to be a sexual deviant, when a woman gives absolutely zero indication of being even remotely interested in the physical.

This means that if a Millennial girl tells you that she is a "Christian" conservative ... and you treat her like one by not daring to "make a move" and kiss her (while she hides her desire) and wait on sex ... then you are "weak", "scared", and will be hearing the "No Spark" speech when she inevitably leaves you ...

Some "Christian" ...

Welcome to the thread, Mr. Deckard! So, are you REALLY a replicant??? That would be another interesting controversy to hash out, but maybe in another thread... (Sorry, I digress.)

Anyway, your post (not making moves, etc.) reminds me of a news headline I read a few weeks ago in which a young man (in his 30's, I believe, and assumedly not a Christian) said he was going to start taking chaperones on his dates just so that he couldn't be accused of any misconduct (in light of our #MeToo era.)

While I think it's interesting that such awareness might be making even unbelievers nervous and cautious about one's behavior... (and of course, I am all for victims getting justice.)

However, you make a good point in that it's also seen as being possibly undesirable or a sign of disinterest if a poor guy doesn't even try to go for a kiss--and yet in this day and age, he might get slapped with a lawsuit for doing so.

I don't have any answers, that's for sure.

I tell all my married friends, "If you've found someone you can live with, stick with them, because it's nothing but a shark tank out here," for both the guys and the gals.

MeToo is so absolutely ridiculous, it is infuriating. We live in a misandrist society, not a "misogynist" one. I am 29 years old; at 24 I lost a girl that I truly thought I was going to marry. Because she presented herself as a "Christian" conservative, I treated her like one. That means you wait at least several dates before the kissing stages and save sex for marriage. But because I didn't "make a move" (despite her giving any sign whatsoever of wanting it to go there), I lost her. I was "weak". I was "immature"/ I "lacked confidence". I wasn't a "real man". Insert any excuse a woman scorned uses to break things off.

Now? With the birth rate dwindling and church attendance drying up, the church is sadly jumping on the anti-male bandwagon and blaming men, instructing men to "pursue".

SINCE WHEN do men "pursue" women???

I'm going to write a thread on that topic tomorrow hopefully; I truly believe instructing men to pursue and telling women to be passive in relationships is going to have a devastating impact on Christianity.

This is the reality of relationships for Millennials; Christian men have got no chance. It would be wonderful if "conservatives"/"Christians"/Baby Boomers would recognize this instead of crying/demanding their precious grandchildren ...

I think you greatly overestimate your ability to thwart God's plans for you.

Q: How thin should a drinking straw be to be considered feminine?
A: that question is far too absurd to answer

And I truly think that the translation was that men should take care of his wife. Not to rule over her. You think that makes more sense?

My apologies, Kim... for participating in the derailment of your thread.
Though I do not apologize for standing firm on the Truth of God's Word... I now bow out :)
