My hubby, kids and I live in a 100 year old house. It was built in 1918. We moved in about 4 years ago. We have had some strange things happen in this house that I can't explain. It doesn't scare me as much as it makes me question my beliefs. I'll list off some things that we've had happen.

1. Lights and water taps turning on and off.
2. My son has felt something grab his legs at night.
3. Doors opening and closing when there are no windows open or drafts.
4. A kitchen chair was drug across the floor and woke my husband and I up. Found the chair moved to a totally weird location in the room, laying on it's backside on the floor.
5. Cupboards are open in the morning with items fallen out on the counter, like tea and coffee filters.
6. Footsteps upstairs when we're all on the main floor.

I could go on and on.
Anyone else here have strange things happen in their home?

Okay, that is spooky... I think I would be moving by now... Especially after the leg grabbing... Nope, nope, nope...

My son described the leg grabbing as "playful" and not aggressive. Almost like a smaller child's strength. It's only happened a few times that he's told us, an he otherwise is comfortable sleeping in his room. He is 12 now, almost 13 - and hasn't mentioned it for about a year now. Our daughter is 7 and she hasn't had anything like that happen. I sometimes wonder if the leg grabbing is happening as a dream, and he's being startled awake thinking he was actually grabbed. That's what my rational mind wants to think, anyway.

My mom had some weird instances where there was a supposed ghost.
The problem is ghosts don't fit with the bible.
The leg grabbing is a phenomenon. My dad has had it much of his life, through various residences. He has actually been pulled.

That's why I'm uncomfortable - because it doesn't fit in with the Bible. And yet, it's happening. I'm not scared of the actual things that have happened, but am disturbed by the fact that ghosts aren't something that mesh with the Bible's teachings. It makes a person wonder if they're going kinda crazy. But my whole family have seen things, heard things, felt things in this house. Even babysitters have had things happen here. We love this house, it's cozy, and not at all like some creepy old house you'd see in a movie or something. We don't feel the "ghosts" are "evil"....more like they are curious, and clumsy!

Well "feeling" isn't fact.
The most common answer for such things is actually that they are demons masquerading as ghosts. An effort to discredit the bible and traditional faith by tricking people into questioning what they believe. Or fooling non-believers.
And a sense of something not being evil doesn't prove anything. The bible does say satan comes as an angel of light.
People that have "spirit guides" don't sense anything evil, either, despite the demonic interaction.

Not trying to scare you, just give some answers.

What can I do to rid our home of such things?

Moving is not an option, just FYI. At least not now. And we love this house. :(

Any advice on how we can rid our house of this?

Hi Merida...I have had simala things happen to me before I was saved , now my advice for you would be to pray without ceasing...Pray and ask God to bless your home from roof to bottom , speak Scripture out loud and cast them things out in the name of Jesus , you have His authority over such things...You do not know what has gone on in your home within the 100 years , but Jesus has overcome this world and everything in it , I will pray for you right now...xox...

There certainly are no such things as ghosts. Demons seek a person, a body, rather than a structure. However, if any are worshiping some statue, I have no doubt a demon or satanic angel will indwell that statue to obtain the worship. But they have opened the door to it.

1.) Are you and your husband both born-again Christians?
2.) Have you both been water baptized after becoming born-again?
3.) Do you have a Church or Christian fellowship you attend regularly?

One last thing, and I know you are going to disagree with me by what I read of a statement of yours in another thread, but, 4.) you need to denounce that yoga stuff. It is not of God and neither is it neutral. I don't know that you practice yoga but you accept it as good and safe. It is not.

With all four of these things in place, you need to bring up this concern before your fellowship and have them pray for you and your family. All the while you and your husband are praying also. Fasting for a certain time is very helpful. It reveals to God the depth of your concern in the matter.

Jesus Christ has all authority in heaven and earth. No demon or devil can stand up to Him.

If anything like that was happening in my home i would be walking from room to room with my Bible and declaring that Jesus is LORD and in his name ordering all demonic spirits to leave..

Hubby and I are both not Christian. Not baptized. Don't go to church.
We're reading the Bible together and learning.
We're newbs.

With that being answered, does a person need to be baptized and attend church to be Christian? This is something that I've asked several times in my life, but have never been given a straight answer. I'd love if someone here could clarify this. I live in a small town and I find that our churches are very cliquey - and almost like a club you have to join.

To become a Christian all you need to do is accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. You recognize you are a sinner and that Christ has paid the price for sin and you want His sacrifice applied to you. You go to God in prayer and tell Him that. On that basis, you will be born-again, and have eternal life.

Water baptism is something which follows your being born-again. You should seek a church, which is a fellowship of people like you who have been born-again, and ask to be baptized. Water baptism is not necessary to go to heaven as that is already accomplished when you placed faith in Jesus Christ. But it is important as it is an outward public testimony of your faith in Jesus Christ. It is important in your walk of salvation in this life.

In looking for a church or fellowship of believers, I would consider these things. Make sure they believe the Bible is the Word of God. No homosexual preachers. No women preachers. Most of the old denominations have fallen away to these things. If and when you turn to Jesus Christ, pray about this. I trust He will lead you.

But, first things are first. You need to come to Jesus Christ as your Saviour.

Why can't women be preachers? The United Church in my town is run by a woman.

I love that you asked this question. I must warn you though, this subject gets even more heated debate than the one about translations. My view is that women can be preachers. :)

I agree with everything above. It has been edited to exclude certain things.

I guess I'm asking all the heated questions. lol Oops. My bad. I'm just really wanting to learn, and honestly not wanting to start debates. I'm open to ALL perspectives here.

As I said, first things first. Do you want Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour? Nothing else matters till that is settled.
