I think our understanding is limited to His word as it is written and wonderment or amusement that startled some that would try and change his word by adding to it should be forbidden unless they violate the warning not to add or subtract from as it is written. With the word it representing the unseen faith of God.

Are you saying because I do not know Greek or Hebrew. I must trust that it is God speaking bringing new prophecy when someone makes a noise?

What was the Latin interpretation, and who said it was Latin, the person making the noise?

I think the word of God is the only source of wonderment by which we can "marvel not".
Not at all what I am saying or I should say asking were you saved hearing the preaching of Gods word in Greek or Hebrew?

There is no "new Prophecy" Jesus has fullfiled all. there is only Confirmation now.

So much in this post is inconsistent with Scripture, whether it's blatant disregard, twisting, or conflating of completely unrelated passages.

It think it is inconsistent with those who desire a sign before they will believe. Sign seeks that Christ called a evil generation, the generation Adam (no faith) that walks by sight, deflate prophecy .Making it to no effect.

The unbelieving Jew (no faith) that God mocked, by brining His interpretation into other languages other than Hebrews still refused to hear prophecy . Holding tightly to the oral traditions of men therefore making prophecy without effect. Can't serve two teaching masters

Why promote seeking after a sign?

They mocked God and made him into a circus seal. Show us a sign and the we will believe

John 4:48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

John 6:30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, "that we may see", and believe thee? what dost thou work?

I would think if you are looking for consistency "walk by faith" the unseen eternal and not by sight after what the eyes see the temporal. The 20/20 prescription below

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.2 Corinthian 4:18

Mt 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

The things which a man speaks reveal what is in his heart.

Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

What does your speech reveal about you? What you say in public or what you pray in private is it all under the Holy Spirit's control?

You are so far off base with this line of thinking that you're playing in the next county. Seriously, man, nobody here is advocating "sign seeking". You're bleating irrelevance. For goodness' sake, get off it.

No, because that isn't how the Holy Spirit works. It isn't true of me, and it isn't true of you.

I understand you are not or say so .

I am addressing the Charismatics (sign gifts) or Pentecostalism coming up with new signs . Falling back slain in the spirit, holy laughter, drinking poison, healing as a sign of evidence etc

Make me wonder when Christ does come on the last day will he find faith or men seeking after signs like the Apostate Jews that required one before they would believe.( Commit faith) In the end making God into a circus sea,l I believe

It would seem you are providing some help by confuses tongues and prophecy as if there was a difference and God was still brining new prophecy as revelations from God?

I have never read an expiration date on any of the gifts of the Holy Spirit throughout scripture. From Genesis to God claiming, My SPIRIT (Holy Spirit) will not always dwell with men (because we die) to Christ (God in the flesh) preparing the Disciples for the Holy Spirit to act in place of Christ after He ascends...to the end of the Book of Revelation's...I never once read where the gifts of the Holy Spirit have actually ended.

Now, have churches felt like they no longer wanted to use any of the gifts throughout time? Of course, this is why there is a thread based solely upon TONGUES.

But from Discernment, Tongues/Interpretation, Healing, to any of the gifts of the Holy Spirit...these are ALL still very active and alive today.

People might have put an expiration date on certain topics of the KJV Bible, but GOD NEVER DID!!

So clearly, according to scripture from Genesis to Revelation, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still fully functional and alive this very moment!!

Great! So could you please stop mentioning it in your discussion with me. Anyone else who reads the thread will see it... repeatedly.

We've been over this so many times. Paul clearly distinguishes them in 1 Corinthians 14.

To show you how your position is untenable, I'll quote an earlier post of yours...

Tongues is God bringing his living abiding word in all the languges of the word and not Hebrew alone is prophecy .It is a sign aginst the Hebrews who refused to hear prophecy (God word)
Without changing the meaning of your statement at all, I can write it like this:

"Tongues is prophecy, a sign against the Hebrews who refused to hear prophecy."

NOW do you see how ridiculous it is? Tongues and prophecy cannot be the same thing!

Please read 1 Corinthians 14 carefully, without your preconceptions in place. Paul clearly is writing of two different things. The very argument you keep making (that tongues are a sign) actually proves my point!

garee,

I believe some people can have more spiritual insight into the Bible than others. There are unbelievers who can read other things, but just can't seem to comprehend basic ideas in the Bible. And there are those who see deeply into it.

But it is just hard to buy that you are getting deep spiritual insight into these passages when it is clear that you do not understand some of the most basic truths, and interpret one passage to contradict another. I'm not buying the idea of you as the revelatory mystic who gets revelations against revelatory mysticism, and the irony is just a bit too much.

No, because that isn't how the Holy Spirit works. It isn't true of me, and it isn't true of you.
No doubt the reason we defile ourselves by what we say at least as far as righteousness is concerned.

Still we are to endeavor to yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit that our speech will glorify God by evidence the fruit of the Holy Spirit revealing His presence in our heart.

Which Israel is that which one has been replaced? The one he renamed Christian as residents of the city of Christ that he has called to be His bride?
I didn't write that explanation. The author didn't rename. Jews are Jews and Christians are Christians. I am against the Replacement Theology.
Read carefully Romans 9-11. There was a devotional booklet that was just focusing on Romans, but it ignored completely those chapters. Why? Because the author of the devotional booklet was for the Replacement Theology.

I wrote this in another forum:
John, if you say or do something right after you have re-committed to living Proverbs 3:5-6 and Jude 20-23, then what you do or say will be perfect because it is being urged by the Holy Spirit. He is the perfect guide for each of us about what to say and do. He says what He hears (John 16:13) and Who does He hear. Mostly Jesus Christ Who experienced being a human, and so He knows the proper time we each need the divine Truths.

Amen, Prophecy God's tongue begins in Genesis and ends in the book of Revelation with the word Amen (the end) .

No such thing as a spiritual sign gift in temporal healing. We walk by faith, the unseen spiritual.

Not all gifts have ended with prophecy .

God is not brining new revelations after any manner . Why go above that which is a written as evidence called a gift? Which is evidence someone is trying to add and violate the warning not to add or substract now that we have he living, abiding, perfect?

The last chapter in the Bible is still Revelation. Do you need more than he has given us?

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.Revelation 22:18-21

After Saul met Samuel, he met prophets coming from Shiloh. They prophesied and he prophsied. Those prophecies are not written in the Bible and were not added to the book of Revelation. Why would a prophecy today have to be added to the book of Revelation.

Just because the Book of Revelation ends in AMEN does not mean things ended...yet...

The second coming, the taking away (rapture), Tribulation, the true antichrist (has not been revealed nor have the Jews accepted him as their Messiah), Armageddon, the 1,000 year reign, the Adversary being released from the bottomless pit (he is not even in there yet), all of the church dispensations according the Asia Minor churches, the MARK of the BEAST, beheading, white throne judgement, Lake of Fire, and so forth and so forth...

None of those things have come to pass and we believe they all will. So they might actually end at the AMEN in the end of the Revelation. But until that time has passed, they still are yet to come.

And the Holy Spirit still dwells in all believers. You can still be saved and receive the Holy Spirit. So, the Holy Spirit is very much active today, which means the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still very much active with the Holy Spirit.

So, your AMEN at the end of Revelation is still waiting to be completed. Until then, the gifts are still as alive and active as they were when Peter and Paul used them!!

Some gifts are still active .Like prophets or apostles that declare the existing living, abiding will of God found in his book of prophecy, the Bible, or called the book of the law. (no philosophical theories of men)

The end of the living revelations that God has brought to rule a living world is not the end of the world. Just as in the same way the world did not begin moving until God revealed Himself with His finger as it is written as a law God spoke. Moses was moved to record the first five books thousands of years, after the beginning Genesis.

It is no different then any time period in which God did not move people to record His will. During the four hundred year silent period between the Old and new testament time did not stop. Many private revelations that came from the will of men were offered.

Many in their anxiety said; thus says the Lord, he said this or a saw a vision and created the secret books called the Apocrypha .Prophecy God's word, or tongue is not limited to the future.

The perfect law of God protects the integrity of God's lovingly commands us. He informs us not to add or subtract.... now that we have the whole or the perfect spoken of in 1 Corinthians 13.

It is how we test the spirits to see if they are of God.

Any assumed new revelations today or visions or any manner God did reveal his will in the past we can know they are not of God . The knowledge we do have of God is in respect to the perfect.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away1 Cornithinas 13:8-10

Need more that he has revealed? How much?

I am not suggesting that others did not prophesy, prophecy . Obviously what they were moved by God to say this or that ....God did not move men to be written down.

It is no different than God moving Enoch. It does not mean there is a lost book of Enoch... fill in the blank pages

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.Jude 14-15

The Catholics use that kind of ideology to try and make the oral traditions of their fathers to rise above that as it is written . They use Peter in the last chapter of John saying that if God wrote down all of His prophecy. I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.

But Christ did not perform those words because he did move Peter to prophecy as a false prophet but because he did not it was a sign against Peter. It was the same kind of intent by which Satan moved Peter in Mathew 16 in a hope to destroy the integrity of God's word, as it is written

Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen..john 21:22-25

Rumors do not constitute God has spoken.

I do not believe in the concept of "replacement theology" other than replacing the theology that comes from the word of God in exchange for the philosophies of men as oral traditions...... called blasphemy .

God's theology as his perfect law has nothing to do with the corrupted flesh of men.( Jew or Gentile male nor female) The time of reformation has come. The fig tree is cut off the previous time period as a parable using their flesh as a shadow had come to the end. a great tribulation for the unbelieving Jew (no faith)

The bride of Christ made up of new creatures began with Abel . I don't think he was called a Jew as if God was a man as us to begin with and there was a fleshly Jewish mediator set between God and man as a infallible umpire.

Supernatural God who remains without mother or father, beginning of Spirit life or end is not Jewish nor Gentile, male nor female .

God will not share his glory with the flesh of men. Even the Son of man, Jesus said His own flesh ...it profits for nothing, zip, nada

Okay then, so we are in agreement that God is able to move men to speak without writing it down, or even adding it to the Bible.

So you should not accuse those who prophesy of adding to the Bible or to the book of Revelation.

And you should also recognize that the book of Revelation predicts two witnesses that would prophesy. I would think any eschatology would put the fulfillment of those events at a point in time after the final 'Amen' in the book of Revleation.
