What Will Our Heavenly Rewards Be?

The one reward is the same for all a pennies worth eternal life.

Matthew 20:2And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

Matthew 20:9And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

Matthew 20:10But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

Matthew 20:13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

Wow what a good question. We read of all kinds of rewards, don't we? Crowns, dwellings (mansions), eternal life, no more sorrow, imperishable bodies, even streets of gold and pearly things.

I think we can only fathom and speculate the specifics and conditions of a glorious estate that is not yet fully explained and defined. The truths that for me are certain with regards to Heaven are found in Psalms 16:11

He will show us the path of life, in His presence there is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forever more!!!

I don't think we can ever comprehend the fullness of all that we will have or be in new heaven / new earth.

7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

The Lord is the portion of our inheritance [WOW!!!]. In new heaven / new earth, we will be in the presence of the Lord and in His presence is fullness of joy and pleasures for evermore. I do not believe we will lack any good thing.

And interestingly enough, we are His portion (Deut 32:9 - For the LORD'S portion is his people).

I sure don't want to be amongst all those riches in heaven and have a charge card with a zero balance! Laying up in store and laying hold on eternal life are not different things.

I keep in mind this verse when it comes to things that are yet future:

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

I think in this life God reveals to us as much as we are able to comprehend and I understand there are things we cannot comprehend due to limitations foisted upon us through Adam.

ND what ever Paul is discussing in verse 9 is revealed UNTO US -->1st Corinthians 2:10 But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.

If we are willing to listen.......and to use verse 9 as it has been used by many as the "go to verse" about what we cannot know is erroneous at best.....

Seriously though, just making it to Heaven will be reward enough for me...I don't care if I get any rewards or not...I'd be happy just to shine the other people's crowns as long as I make it there....Because whatever it's like there, it will sure beat the alternative...

Here is what Paul wrote concerning that hidden wisdom briefly mentioned in 1 Cor 2:

Ephesians 3:

1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

The mystery has been revealed - the one body in Christ which consists of Jews and gentiles (vs 6).

However, the riches of Christ are unsearchable [aneksixníastos (literally, "not able to trace the steps of") – properly, impossible to "track" ("trace the steps of"); unable to follow or fully comprehend ("incomprehensible"); inscrutable, past finding out]. There is always something more we can understand. And to be honest, I think even when we do live in new heaven / new earth, there will always be more to God than what we understand even then. God is so much more than anything anyone can ever understand. God is that magnificent.

Back in the 70s, I knew this guy and he absolutely loved chocolate. He got a 5 lb (it might even have been 10 lb) Hershey chocolate bar. The thing was humongous. He asked me if I'd like a piece and I said sure (which I think disappointed him - he really did not want to share ... he was just being polite). He shared one little mite of it with me. Sure enough, he ate the whole thing and wanted more. He was such a funny man.
