Fact List About Forgiveness
(author unknown)

The most creative power given to the human spirit is the power to heal the wounds of a past it cannot change.

We do our forgiving alone inside our hearts and minds; what happens to the people we forgive depends on them.

The first person to benefit from forgiving is the one who does it.

Forgiving happens it three stages: we rediscover the humanity of the person who wronged us; we surrender our right to get even; and we wish that person well.

Forgiving is a journey; the deeper the wound, the longer the journey.

Forgiving does not require us to reunite with the person who broke our trust.

We do not forgive because we are supposed to; we forgive when we are ready to be healed.

Waiting for someone to repent before we forgive is to surrender our future to the person who wronged us.

Forgiving is not a way to avoid pain, but to heal the pain.

Forgiving someone who breaks a trust does not mean that we give him his job back.

Forgiving is the only way to be fair to ourselves.

Forgivers are not doormats; to forgive a person is not a signal that we are willing to put up with what he or she does.

Forgiving is essential; talking about it is optional.

When we forgive, we set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner we set free is us.

When we forgive we walk in stride with the forgiving God.

Luke 17:3
“Take heed to yourselves:
If your brother [or sister] trespass against you, rebuke him [or her];
and if he [or she] repents, forgive him [or her].”

TO LET GO TAKES LOVE-- An Introspection Tool After “Heart-break”

Note: After each statement, type a response in relation to each individual you want to go on from or/and forgive.

To "let go" does not mean to stop caring,
but it means that I can't do it for someone else.

To "let go" is not to cut myself off,
but it is the realization that I can't control another.
To "let go" is not to enable,
but to allow learning from natural consequences.
To "let go" is to admit powerlessness,
which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To "let go" is not to try to change or blame another,
but to make the most of myself.

To "let go" is not to care for,
but to care about.
To "let go" is not to fix,
but to be supportive.

To "let go" is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.

To "let go" is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to effect their own destinies.

To "let go" is not to be protective,
but to permit another to face reality.

To "let go" is not to deny,
but to accept.

To "let go" is not to nag, scold, or argue,
but instead to search out my own shortcomings and to correct them.

To "let go" is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes, and to cherish myself in it.

To "let go" is not to criticize and regulate anybody,
but to try to become what I dream I can be.
To "let go" is not to regret the past,
but to grow and to live for the future.

To "let go" is to fear less and to love more

- Adapted from Can Christians Love Too Much?, by Dr. Margaret J. Rinck

Philippians 4:4-8
Rejoice in the Lord always.
I will say it again: Rejoice!
Let your gentleness be evident to all.
The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
And the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers [and sisters],
whatever is true,
whatever is noble,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever things are of good report--
if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--
meditate about such things.

To forgive is to forget; read Hebrews 8:12.

We need to forgive so that God will forgive you and if you don't forgive then God won't forgive - Matthew 6:14-15.

We need God's forgiveness because we can't be a new good creature w/o it. the proof that God forgave you is you are cleansed from your sins'; read 1 John 1:9

Besides hatred will bring you to hell - Galatians 5:19-21.

Those who hate his brother is a murderer and murderers will go to hell as said in Revelation 21,

Forgiveness in fact is one of the keys for change and to inherit the Kingdom of God.

To forgive is to forget; read Hebrews 8:12. ***Forgive and forget is not a Biblical doctrine. Human beings cannot forget.

We need to forgive so that God will forgive you and if you don't forgive then God won't forgive - Matthew 6:14-15. ***
Luke 17:3
“Take heed to yourselves:
If your brother [or sister] trespass against you,
rebuke him [or her];
and if he [or she] repents,
forgive him [or her].”

We need God's forgiveness because we can't be a new good creature w/o it. the proof that God forgave you is you are cleansed from your sins'; read 1 John 1:9 ***Your interpretation of that verse is wrong. And there are not supporting verses.

Besides hatred will bring you to hell - Galatians 5:19-21. ***There are many wrong hatreds, but there are many right hatreds. What are examples in both groups? So be careful of generalizations.

Those who hate his brother is a murderer and murderers will go to hell as said in Revelation 21, ***That is not what Revelation 21 teaches. And the Lake of Fire is not mentioned by Jesus Christ or Apostle Paul as Hell. It is a final ending of the anti-God anti-Gospel people.

Forgiveness in fact is one of the keys for change and to inherit the Kingdom of God.
***Where are Bible verse that state that. Forgiveness is the only way to live what Romans 14:17 says is the Kingdom of God. Romans 14:17 "for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Luke 17:3

We as humans can't forget wrongs done against us, but we still should pray for those who have done wrong against us that they will become sensitive to the Holy Spirit convictions about their wrongs and make the appropriate confessions and changes to Christ-likeness. Repentance to righteousness is a major theme in the Bible along with Divine Love and Divine forgiveness and Divine compassion.

But Jesus Christ also commanded us to agapè love our enemies.
True Christians should be going for God's best in relating with all others.
So agapè is for spouses on down to even our enemies.
Think of a 10-1 scale:
10-9 love for enemies (with no praying for bad for them),
8-7 love for acquaintances at public places,
6-4 for best friends and relatives,
3-1 for Christian spouse.

Exactly. That's why I was asking the OP for clarification. :)

So many carnal Christians say to individuals like us, "just forgive" or "you must keep forgiving". And also others claim that God forgives all. But He had many of His Chosen People killed in the Old Testament for disobeying His Commandments via Moses. And the second half of Romans 1 states that God has given up on many and continues to do so.

2 Timothy 3:5 is the hardest command for me to obey. Many many times I have kept trying to reason with a mixed-up or mis-informed individual past the urgings of the Holy Spirit, because of my soft "heart" and compassion for him or her. The hardest of that was recently with my former wife. So many "have a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof". It took me until now to move on. I had to leave Nigeria on November 9, 2016. But now I am fulltime again doing ministry, mostly via the Internet. Please pray for me daily. The spiritual enemy doesn't like those who are sharing God's wonderful truths, wisdom, and concerns.
