Because of health issues, I am often awake during the night. And as often as I am able I walk.
We are blessed to live in a rural area, and it's v-e-r-y quiet and peaceful during the night, with rarely a car passing.

Earlier this morning, I was walking, and admiring the sky. There was Orion, and the Pleiades, and Castor and Pollux, and Ursa Minor, and Jupiter and Venus shining so brightly. And, rising in the east was the waning crescent moon. This tiny sliver of moon was bright enough that it cast shadows!

I thought of a t-shirt I saw years ago that said: Be the moon. Reflect the Son.

I thought of the sun as the light of God, and the moon as believers, and the earth as carnal things that get between the Lord and His people. But even with almost all of the moon blotted out by the earth, it still showed enough light to walk by.
Just so, even when I, as a believer, let worldly things come between me and the Beloved, His light is so bright that it's still seen.
And if I were to reflect God's perfect Son entirely, the earth would be illumined by that light.

It reminded me that to walk as the Lord adjured us to is to not allow earthly things to get between God and me. It reminded me that we are the light of the world. And I hoped it might encourage you, too. :)

Blessings to all-

Sometimes I can be the moon. Sometimes I'm a really small star. And sometimes I'm a supernova but I'm so far away from anybody else that nobody will ever know of my brilliance. And sometimes I'm a black hole.

Psychomom was the very first person who was ever like a real mother to me and she was the first to adopt me as her son, since I never knew what it was like to have a caring mother she made such a difference in my life and healed many wounds and scars I had inside. Sometimes just having a real mom can make a world of difference, then I received a second who goes by Jesuslives I was blessed with not one but two caring and loving mothers as if God was saying what you never had you will have double.

She came back by the username notmyown but I haven't seen her on often

I realize this is a very old post, but I am surprised that none mentioned (Job 38:31-32) in regard to it. For the poster here spoke of seeing Orion, and the Pleiades just as God so mentioned in this verse. "Canst thou bind the sweet influence of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season?"

Mazzaroth is the signs of Zodiac. So, can we not see that what we call the Zodiac has it's origin in God. Not to be misunderstood for astrology, which is condemned in Scripture, but as used by God to give the Gospel message in the heavens. Starting from Virgo and going to Leo the Lion.

It is an interesting study. One can find it explained in the book "The Gospel in the Stars" by Joseph A. Seiss. It certainly brings a new understanding of (Ps. 19:1-2) "The heavens declae the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge."
